Interesting Plot & Side Characters Save a Drama that Botched It's Main Relationship

What really drove this show was character development. Of the 6 main characters, most of them ended up completely different than they started the show. Wei Qing starts as this abusive, borderline sociopathic guy who thinks he can buy, steal, or manipulate anything outcome he wants... even making the FL his girlfriend. Lin Fei Fei, friend of the FL, thinks that money is everything she wants out of life, even in love. Her other friend, Bi Qiu Jing, thinks love is something that is nice to observe, but nothing she'd ever want to participate in. FL's childhood crush Li Ming Cheng has a similar logic-brained view on relationships. Ning Fei, sorta brother of the ML, is a complete mess of a person, who can barely function in society, much less in a relationship.

This show really finds it's form in the middle, when each of these characters grow up and start to find themselves. Wei Qing becomes more emotional and empathetic. Bi Qiu Jing & Li Ming Cheng begin to see value in love, even in their own twisted ways. Ning Fei becomes a more confident and stable person. Lin Fei Fei sees there's more to happiness than money.

The problem with the show is the FL, Zhou Shi, doesn't have this character development. She starts off hands down the most normal of all of them, but by the end, you got the feeling that they all grew up and became adults while she didn't. She'd spent ten years in love with brother Ming Cheng for simply helping her study for an exam. She had this misconstrued notion that she should love someone simply for helping her. Literally, everyone in her life knew that she was in love with Wei Qing, by episode 20, but instead of acknowledging her feelings, she was indecisive and dragged it on. Then at the very end, she decides to kiss him, after he revealed he saved her life in a swimming pool a decade earlier. This shows her character clearly didn't grow. She kept finding love as an emotion of reciprocity for a favor, not as something deeper. She clearly had a deep emotional care for Wei Qing, but for someone, she couldn't recognize it as love... even if the whole audience and all her friends could. And because of that, the audience was deprived of seeing them date at all. They are literally together for 2 minutes before the show is over...

This ending where they get together is incredibly rushed, which I'll be a little less harsh on them for, given that there is a sequel in the works. I hate how that sequel is sending her abroad for grad school (I hate this plot trope... she is literally about to be independently wealthy from having ownership rights of Xun Ran's paintings, on top of dating a multi-billionaire... don't you think she could get private training in China that means she doesn't have to leave her whole life behind to pursue inferior training? It just felt like she was running away from her new adult life at the end) and how it's already revealed they break up. Hopefully, through this breakup, they can explore her character growth as she begins to develop a more mature perspective on love as the other 5 characters in the show did in the original series. If she does, then this will have been a satisfying drama with 6 complete character arcs. If not, oh well at least we have the nice side characters, and hopefully Wei Qing can find happiness elsewhere.

It is so amazing Drama serie ❤❤❤❤❤❤. I have seen all episodes three times with English subtitle. Acting of Wei Qing was tremendous!!! I really fall in love with his acting ????????????????????????????. His every expression was too cute!!! Thanks to all characters for giving this interesting drama.

It's been a while since I last watched a CHINESE DRAMA. I didn't expect anything but the 1st episode just hooked me up.
PLOT:
The plot may seem like 'Im not a Robot' but it's not! the similarity will just be both lead man have a special allergy on humans .
About is Love is a light weight drama, one of the best romcom I've watched.

CAST:
The lead female is someone stronger, I thought there will be more crying scenes but I'm wrong,
The lead female and male are so matched. I hope they would start dating for real HHAHAHA
Yan Xi is a best kisser HAHAHAHAHA
The supporting casts have really interesting side stories. Specially
The acting was great. Not that cringy unlike those I've watched before.


WARDROBE:
Yan Xi looks so handsome specially when he's wearing SUITSSSSS! I LOVE THE DESIGN OF ALL HIS SUITSSSSSSSS


OST:
The music is catchy. Cute!

OVERALL:
I'VE RECOMMENDED THIS DRAMA TO ALL OF MY FRIENDSSSSSSSS! I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS DRAMAAAAAAAA! I HOPE THE LEADS HAVE ANOTHER DRAMA TOGETHER!!! THEY REALLY LOOK GOOD TOGETHER .
TOO MUCH FEELS HWILE WATCHING THIS DRAMAAAA!!!



I hope more drama like this will be made.

Okay

Good: I thought it started out VERY good. I had some good laughs. The introduction of the first true meeting of the male and female leads was GOOD. It started to slow down midway through the 30 episodes, for me. I also thought the male lead bodyguard, assistant guy, was an excellent touch. I loved him. I liked the young guy that lived with the girls also. At least he had good insights was nice and did not give bad advice to the female lead. I also LOVED the closeness and intimacy of the male and female lead when she was helping him with his problem. That was when I saw the potential of then being in love and as a couple. I love the male lead, " maleness" and manliness by his pursuit of the female lead. I like a good , strong male lead. He is very handsome also.
Mediocre: The three female friends were fine in the beginning with their support of each other and giving advice. BUT as the episodes went on, they became too involved in the female lead love life. I thought they gave her some poor advice that made her become even more confused about her feelings for the male lead, which in turn caused a delay in them getting together. The brainy female friend definitely went WAY overboard with her spying on the female lead and the male lead private area. She would be charged with a crime in real life. I understand looking out for your innocent friend but sometimes those two other girls went overboard or gave bad advice.
Bad: The ENTIRE romance was ruined for me when the female lead still had a "crush" or love for her best guy friend (since childhood) all the way up until the 20 something episode. The story did not even have her showing or thinking romantic or liking" feelings" for the male lead until the 20 something episode of 30. That is too late. Also the constant "not sure of my feelings" and the male lead and female lead playing games of who will cave first in the last episode was BAD. They did not really " get together" or dated. I skipped over all the mom scenes. She gets worse mom of the year award.

This is a good drama to watch while waiting for a great one. The drama is lighthearted with some melodramatic moments. The acting is fairly good and the highlight of the drama is the relationship among Zhou Shi, Bi Qiu Jing, and Lin Fei Fei. The drama is full of clichés and the resolution between Wei Qing and his cruel and absurd mother was sensationless. There were some good romantic moments between Wei Qing and Zhou Shi, and between Ning Fei and Lin Fei Fei. Sadly, the rewatch score lowers the overall score. Although the drama is not memorable, it is entertaining. Enjoy it!

this is a pretty cool drama to watch when you just wanna feel good. i've watched more than 40 chinese dramas now and i've been putting off about is love. so i just decided to watch it. although the story line is not very creative and certain thing are not cleared till the very end, i would say the story writing was very poor. yet the actors lifted it with their performance and dedication to the drama. just loved ning fei. he was my favorite throughout the whole thing.
BUT THE BEST PART ABOUT THE DRAMA WAS THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE THREE FLATMATES. THEY'RE SO DIFFERENT TO EACH OTHER YET CARE AND RESPECT EACH OTHER SO WELL. IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL. AND FEI-FEI WAS TOO GOOD WITH HER ROMANCE WITH NING FEI. SO GLAD THEY GOT TOGETHER!!!
all the couples were perefcty matched. just wished that the main couple asked ecah other out early and not drag it till the very last. but overall so good

this is good drama to watch but i don't like the lead couple. both of them don't have chemistry with each other. i hate that male lead don't respect to girl but it's drama btw. the female lead seems over act and awkward but she is so pretty. the instersing in this drama is feifie xuafei couple. they have chemistry. feifie such a good sister to treat xuafei but end with romance. xuafei is really childish and cute. i love him so much. i need their own drama. overall this drama was good but i don't like about business part.. yeah i don't understand business world yet but okay.

ok, so let me start by saying, the plot may not be plausible to most people and it can be cliché-ish, but i just love this drama. I keep coming back to it. I dont even rewatch parts, i go through the entire show again and again. One of my absolute favorite.
Why?1) Fl is adorable and kind of set in her ways. She makes no qualms about who she is and where she want to be. Plus she really showed thar he was getting on her nerves well. Yet she kin hearted and she isnt mean. She ends up raising him in his mother's stead.
2) Ml might be pushy and an asswipe, but his loneliness is heart breaking (hopeless romatic here).
3) most dramas can live on without the sub romances, but the ones in this drama are almost made for each others. They arent thrown together, but happened upon each other.
So i recommend, i recommend and i recommend this drama.

My problem with this drama is the lack of chemistry between the lead pair. They are good actors individually but somehow found them lacking (but this is solely my opinion, of course). The story is ok. I did fast forward and see the last few episodes. The last episode ended as if they were in a rush to finish it. And the mother seems to have completely vanished by then. The second and third pair are fun to watch. It's just not my cup of tea. Watch it during a lull period if you may.

I agree with other viewer's comments where the way the female protagonist is portrayed in most of the Chinese dramas. They are represented as foolish, naive and stupid. They are not strong characters. They cannot express their feelings nor thoughts appropriately to the sentiment of the moment. They are push overs by the evil women. Again, a negative aspect of the representation for the women. I must add that the feeling among the female roommates was excellent. They got along fine. Overall, women need to be better represented by other women, i.e., the director is a woman and she poorly represented women in her film.
