Spellbound (2011)

Do you want to have mix emotions rolled into one? Yep, you come to the right movie!!! You'll get goosebumps scared to death with the horror, laugh your ass off at funny scenes, amaze at the magic and be in love at the romance!

The scenes are great and rewatching it will not bore you. The story has many genres and well, as the old saying goes, love will conquer all!!!

The cinematography here is notably well done and I love Son Ye Jin in her character, she is really a versatile actress. in one note, as Lee Min Ho said (Personal Taste) she is really funny, even if she's not saying anything, just look at her pretty face.

I really get scared and amazed on the scene where the ghost is coming out the cabinet into the audience! check it out to get scared too!

The only way for me to describe this drama is a more mature, yet still silly, version of Bring It On Ghost (2016 Korean Drama). When I decided to watch this, I was in such a weird funk - a combination of being super bored and not being able to go outside because of my county's stay at home order, but also nothing seemed appealing as I was getting over a cold. I had been binge-watching another drama the previous day and had to stop because all the episodes had not been released yet and I was becoming antsy, as I only wanted to find out what was going to happen next. Then, as I was scrolling through Viki, I found this drama. A "Thriller/Romance," with, what I thought was a star cast. So I watched it. And to put it simply, it was super satisfying to watch. It was a basic drama, but it had elements of a ghost thriller (a few jump scares) and an emotional rom-com. I teared up once or twice because of Kang Yeo Ri's backstory and I couldn't help but giggle at her and Ma Jo Goo's friendship. This drama just, "hit the spot," and it didn't seem like it was a 2-hour movie. It was well-paced and a lot more entertaining than a few drama movies I have watched over the years, but not enough for me to give it a 10. I would 100% watch it again and would recommend it if you are wanting to watch something cookie-cutter, but with a horror twist.

Aww It's over?

All I can say is I wish this was a series....It was so cute that I would have loved to have seen more. It had a few good scares but it also had me laughing out loud. And of course some sweet romance. And the ending was hilarious. But not really conclusive in my opinion. Maybe I'm too used to the same old horror almost predictable endings.
I loved all the characters. They were all funny adding to the comedy. But not stupid funny if you know what I mean.
And the story was unique. Some may not be as impressed as I am but I liked it a lot. I am really holding back to not give any spoilers lol.

Great movie! Don't watch it at 1 AM like I did tho lmao

I watched this movie quite a while ago (when most movies on viki were free lmao) and I remember it being very interesting. The acting, storyline, and characters were all top tier which makes the movie easy and fun to watch.

As many of y'all know this movie combines the genres of horror, comedy, and romance which sounds weird at first but somehow they made it work! and really well for that matter!! the combinations of these genres that normally wouldnt go together makes it so entertaining and unique.

One thing I will say is that it is easy to forget this is a horror movie lmao. you will go through a whole lot of romance/comedy scenes then suddenly u see a ghost lmao. so if ur looking for something like the Conjuring then this is not for you. if u are not a person who likes watching horror movies but would like to dabble into the genre, this is a good movie to watch to experiment with horror.

like mentioned before i dont remember a lot of the details (i watched this almost three years ago) but I recommend and will watch it again

Wow. What a cute a cute story.

Pros:
Acting: I enjoyed all the actors, and thought both lee min ki and son ye jin did a great job. son ye jin especially did a great job of portraying the loneliness of her character, and gave you someone worth rooting for. lee min ki was cute, and great boyfriend material. He did comedy really well.

Jo Go: I really liked him, and how he refused to leave her side. Poor girl, even her sister requested for her to leave. Not Jo Go though, he'll stay by her side :)

Ju Ri: Besides the fact that she sees ghosts, Ju Ri was pretty relatable. She did a pretty good job of making you feel for her character. I really loved her and her story :)

Ju Ri friends: They were great comedic relief, and I loved them so much, haha. I loved the bond they share with Ju Ri.

Moral: I just like the moral, that no one should be alone, and you should have someone by your side :) It was really cute to see that through Ju Ri and Jo Go's relationship

Chemistry: I thought that Jo Go and Juri had a lot of chemistry, and were super cute together :) They always made me feel so happy when they were together :)

Comedy: this movie did comedy really well, and was super hilarious at times. Actually laughed out loud!

Cons:
Music: nothing special, it was there but not memorable.

Dramas vs Movies: I mainly watch dramas. So some things that I feel would be dragged out in dramas, weren't here. Which is good and bad. Sometimes I think they needed a little more time to sort things out....but it's better to have a quicker resolution then endlessly dragging. So sort of a pro and con.

Overall, it was a good watch. Nothing overly special, but I wouldn't mind watching it again. It was cute, and I enjoyed it! Would recommend :)

Sometimes movies have third act problems, where they set up too much and they can't resolve it well. This movie has second and third act problems. The initial premise and the first act are quite strong, but then it just goes off the rails. There is way too much crammed in that it could have been two--possibly even three--movies! I want to see the premise and characters filled out better and then cut out some of the nonsense in the back half. As a result of the plot-crowding, the pacing is off too. There's a lot of good stuff there, it just needed a defter hand to step in during the writing or production and tell someone to pump the brakes.

so cute! just a little bit dark, it's definitely not an horror and it develops pretty rapidly in a super cute and uncommon love story. the male lead is literally the guy every girl's asking for: romantic, funny, handsome (just a little bit too thin in my opinion), sensitive and brave. the female lead is really uncommon for Koreans standards, because she can drink, she's very brave, she's not afraid to speak her mind and has sexual desires too (like every human in the world, but I don't know why Koreans always tend to show super shy girls, that don't even know what a man is). the plot is well-developed and combines well all the genres.
