In one of the episodes it said that getting your throat sliced is painless which is not true. Overall it was an ok drama, but with many untrue facts and plots that made no sense . Acting was fairly good but the rest wasn't anything good, would not ever rewatch and I do not recommend to anyone. I recommend you to find another drama to watch that is better and more interesting, intriguing and exciting. It got boring fairly quickly and it just did not keep my attention for long and I am quite patient with dramas and films. Also in one of the episodes it describes Stockholm syndrome as freaky but victims can't help it. Also in one of the episodes one of the bad guys makes out like there is something wrong with crying in which there is not and it is also at times sexist to both females (making them seem weak) and males (toxic masculinity) . The show also names one of the characters fatty which seems like fat shaming and that's wrong. The characters never seem to get upset when someone died which just seems abnormal.

I started the tomb of the sea really not expecting to like it much since it didn’t seem like it would really appeal to me but it actually was really good. It took me some time to really get into it once I was there I really enjoyed it. All the characters were really good in their interactions with other characters and although the romance in this was slight it was very emotionally and conveyed well. I haven’t watched any of the other dramas in the tomb series, however, I was able to follow this pretty well? Really wasn’t that confusing and if it was a bit I kinda just skimmed past it and it was fine/explained later. Initially When I started the show, I did like the characters but I wasn’t too heavily attached, however, by the end of the show I was attached to so many and I Loved them sm. Anyways. I liked the romance arc played out in the later half of the drama. There wasn’t really an ost with actual words here just instrumentals mainly which were good but not memorable. The outfits for this drama specifically for wu lei were so nice and pretty I really liked them. Overall the plot was interesting and I really didn’t expect what was gunna happen next most of the time. I wouldn’t rewatch this simply cause it’s too long, however, I do recommend trying this out!
Edit: I got attached to shen qiong way more than I expected like I seriously adored her props to the actress

The plot is very complex as you have many side stories which are all important and connected. But for me it wasn't too hard to follow, it was just that in some storylines I was more interested than in other... Imo you can also watch this series when you haven't seen any of the other Lost Tomb series (like me). The plot is overall thrilling but some things just shouldn't be questioned. And there are also some cliffhangers, so don't expect a clear fine ending...
The series has everything, really! Mystery, Friendship, Bromance, Comedy, Action, Adventure, Slight Romance, ...

I began to watch this just for Wang Haoxuan (with whom I liked every few scenes he were in ^^) but I ended loving so many of the cast. And also other characters were so cool, I really loved their side stories :D (though most of them don't get enough screen time o.o) The main character though, Li Cu, was just pretty annoying and stupid. Especially in the end parts his scenes were so boring and dumb, unfortunately most of it is important for the plot.
Sooo, the series was very impressive and maybe you should rewatch it to get some points you maybe missed in the beginning, but for me the rewatch value isn't that high because it's such a huge amount of episodes.

Where is Xiao Ge and Pang Zi??

The story it self was really good. I was not a fan of it having 2 stories being told in one dramam.... sort of. i
I felt there was much of to jumping around with the main characters.
I wish they explained more about what happened to Xiao Ge and Pang zi. They were mentioned briefly but i don't remember them being mentioned later on.??? I know the drama series were based off books but i wished they explained what happened between each drama series instead of having a totally different story line each time.??

Wu Xie Belongs In Slytherin

I loved it. It scratched all my archaeologist Indian Jones wannabe itches. I love adventure, thrills & chills, mixed with a little bit of mystery and murder. Tomb of the Sand Sea has it all. The only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is because the end seemed rushed and there are unanswered plot holes that will probably go unanswered unless I find a translated version of the book series or they make a prequel or a 2nd season of Mystic Nine. Although they have MN listed as a side story, you will probably want to watch it first just to know some of the background of the 9 families.

Let's get the issues out of the way. I thought I was watching the Tomb releases in order, but turns out I watched Tomb 2 too early. That's where part of my personal confusion came in. (1) There is an actor in both series but he's not playing the same character. (2) Wu Xie is much older. He is not the 20 something naive kid from Lost Tomb or Lost Tomb 2. And that's fine. What's a little off is that he's some kind of mystic able to accurately predict people's actions 5 moves ahead in order for his crazy elaborate plan(s) to work. He's a master manipulator, hence the Slytherin reference. (3) Lt. Zhang Ri Shan from MN is also in Sea with no explanation as to how. I thought they were using him to replace Zhang Qi Ling (and in very many aspects they did), but Qi Ling makes appearances, too. (4) The families have apparently intermarried and there are last names that are unfamiliar. They really needed to include a family tree instead of the outtakes. (4a) Where are the Hongs? There are no Hongs in Sand Sea, which leads me to (5) Lay Zhang. Lay plays a main character in MN and a minor supporting one in Sand Sea. The issue I'm having is who was he really. Is he Er Ye from MN, a reincarnation, or just a look alike? I just couldn't figure him out. The issues I've listed may seem like a big deal, but really they're not. They easily become unimportant.

The story is about a kid trying to pass his college entrance exam that is attacked, kidnapped, and forced on a whirlwind adventure. It's kind of a coming of age story with a few masterminds and a lot of guns. The production is fantastic. The stunts and fights are well done. The script and direction were pretty solid. At times I did feel that the editing was a little off.

The cast is great!! I'm not much for romance, but even my heart was fluttering in the last few episodes thanks to Lt. Zhang's actor, Zhang Ming En and his sexy self. woo * clutch the pearls * He's not just a pretty face either. There were tell tale signs of his age in his mannerisms, the way he stood and walked, and sometimes in how he spoke. He had on one outfit that looked like they stole off an old man in the park doing Tai Chi. The entire cast has a lot of chemistry.

The music was good. I don't tend to rewatch things, but I can see myself rewatching this to find clues I may have missed.

Overall, it's a really fun watch. Does it have some problems? Yah, sure you betcha! But they're minor. You just need to tell your left brain to shut up and go for the ride.

Wu Xie is all wrong so it’s a Hell No from me

Honestly? After getting into Daomu Biji via Reunion: The Sound of Providence and then devouring every other adaptation I could find, I couldn’t make it more than two episodes into this one, and it’s pretty much entirely because of Wu Xie’s casting. That’s just not him, and while the actor is fine as far as I could tell, he isn’t remotely the Wu Xie I’ve come to love in the other versions (even the other versions that frankly sucked). He doesn’t look or behave like Wu Xie and since Wu Xie’s character is the whole reason I’ve come to love DMBJ, that was just way too off-putting for me to continue. (Also, you want to tell me it’s been like 8 years since TLT2 and he’s suddenly middle aged??) I wanted to give it time to grow on me but UGH, the whole look and attitude is just so wrong I can’t stand it.

Added to that, Li Cu just wasn’t a compelling character, so no way was he saving it for me.

I very, VERY rarely give up on a series this early, but you can’t mess with my favorite character like that. Thank God for Zhu Yilong is all I can say...
