Can you be hopeful in a hopeless world?

Time to hunt is a scifi crime thriller and is the most anticipated film of 2020. This is generally because of the A list cast But more on that later. I have sooo much thoughts on this film both good and bad, let's start.

As soon as it starts, we are introduced to a dark and eerie society and gives off that atmosphere just right. The cinematography was stunning and made us feel that we we're living the dystopian world with them.

It was also shot well it was able to advance the story, show the hopeless world, reveal character motivations, and create emotions. The music also guides and invokes the suspense when it is needed and it heavily enhanced the film. The acting was amazing as well, they gave the right emotions for each scene that you can't help but wow. Furthermore it was a new side to everyone, it was a different Lee Je Hun in architecture 101 and a different Choi Woo Shik in parasite.(also the other casts)

My favorite parts were the heist scene and one towards the end where our main experiences hallucinations. I also loved how it wasn't super dark, there was a lot of humor points to balance it out. Furthermore, The pacing was great for like 2/3 off the film, I was always in the edge of my seat. Their are small details in the film that may seem like it isn't important but comes to play later on, so pay attention!!

The premise was tackled well, the general notion of the film is about friendship, sacrifices, and regrets of a person. Even if it seem like it wasn't the focus it was still delivered subtlety. The story was nothing special, we've seen so much dystopian films in the west but not as much in Korea, as a standalone it was top tier. Plot was also top tier until the last 50 minutes of the show, which I will talk about on the next part.

For the bad parts, I have quite the complaints.

1. The ending
I did say that my favorite scene was around the ending scene but this is different. The ending action sequences was very unsatisfying that I could have imagined 3 better scenario's this might be just personal preference though. However I'm not going to go deep into it because I want this reveiw to be spoiler free

2. The last 50 minutes
The plot progression and pacing went so slow for whaaaat?? this would have been better of around 95-100mins instead of the 140mins

3. Predictable and no shock value
I get it this isn't supposed to be plot twist left and rights but it went just the way it's supposed to, it was too focused on the chase instead of the characters development. Which leads to me not having enough connection between them, because we weren't shown anything, we just randomly follow these 3 friends and their heist.

Overall: time to hunt was an enjoyable thriller but honestly it could have been better with everything they had. I enjoyed the watch but not something I would be rewatching anytime soon. Don't get me wrong I still do recommend it to everyone it was a great film and landing on my favorite Korean thrillers

Absolutely nothing

Absolutely nothing! There was no script, no tention, nothing at all. There was a boring story and nothing could captivate my interest. Only the casting was worthy. I was struggling to stay focus and finish this movie. There was no suspens at all for a thriller/adventure film. It's also really really hard for me to write more than 500 characters in order to submit this review. (I really wonder, how many characters I still need for the submission? ). I think I am close now, to reach the minimum amount of characters, cross fingers.

Oh the suspense, I'd recommend

I really enjoyed this movie! I went in blindly without knowing much but it pleasantly surprised me. Just a warning, it starts off slow but not long after, it begins to pick up the pace (kinda like a slow buildup). The storyline was really simple but the execution was done so well. It was really suspenseful too which made it so much fun to watch with friends. The cast was perfect!! The acting was superb and their chemistry was off the roof. Just a tip, I feel like the movie was really dark (I don't mean the storyline but rather visually) so I'd recommend watching in the dark lmao

This review may contain spoilers

I am extremely annoyed. Read second paragraph if you dont want the movie spoiled.

(skip to next pargraph for short summary without spoilers) SUMMARY WITH SPOILERS: To summarise this movie: annoying. There are so many scenes where the thinking of the leads isnt logical. How are CRIMINALS so afraid of a single guy as if he's a vengeful spirit that they cant easily get rid of lmao. It almost feels like the director got a criminal heist storyline from someone layed out in front of him on a table and just decided to scribble horror elements all over with a crayon... There were plenty of moments where Han could have been killed, but for some reason these three buddies decided to keep running and running. I havent even finished the movie. I was so bothered that i decided to share my annoyance before finishing this movie. The scene right before the 2 hour mark where one of the friends died was my last straw. He did not have to die if it wasnt for the main lead being an idiot. In that parking lot scene he couldve shot Han in his head, but he decided to be a pussy.. i mean the acting was amazing, but that wont make up for the amount of times ive been bothered by the horrible storyline and the horrible decisions that were made. And the chase that broke out when one of the friends left also has me annoyed. Han keeps popping out a cigarette whenever he feels like it and he starts smoking out in the open as if hes inviting them to shoot at him. BUT THEY DONT. THE ONLY MOMENTS THEY DECIDE TO SHOOT IS WHEN THEY ARE GETTING SHOT AT. The thrill during the first half of the movie was insane, but now im just left with frustration which ruins the whole movie. It honestly gets cringe. Suspenseful music starts playing when the main lead decides to confront Han after his friend got killed. It took the death of a friend for him to come to his senses. At this point he might aswell lay next to his dead friend and wait to get shot. I cant believe a movie managed to pull so much hatred out of me. Its also hella annoying how Han manages to dodge every bullet, but is also able to hit shots unlike others. By the way im updating this as im watching the movie. Im proud to announce Han finally got shot. In his shoulder... Make it more fatal cmon now. Ok so i finished the movie. Han gets shot multiple times, falls into the sea but doesn't die so main lead decides to chase after Han. His friend that went back to his parents is also supposedly dead and the end of the movie is main lead leaving Hawaii to go back after Han.

SHORTLY SUMMARISED WITHOUT SPOILERS: Plotholes, stupid decisions that make the movie unbearable, not enough backstory, horror elements thrown into a money heist movie (done in a horrible way), the bad guy is portrayed as way too mighty and the only good thing about this movie was the acting. Its crazy how a newbie director managed to get hold of this cast, but please someone take away the writing from him cuz multitasking is not for him. The great acting sadly doesnt make up for the bad story. And the end is an open ending if anyone cares about knowing that.

A pretty decent crime thriller

I picked this movie up because Choi Woo Shik was in it. After Parasite going global and winning so many awards, Woo Shik is basically an actor to watch out for in my book.

Time To Hunt is a pretty decent crime thriller. The visuals are striking and the cinematography is quite good. There's enough action and thrills to keep you interested and the gun fights are intense.

One of the best things about this film are the performances of the 3 main lead actors. They have good chemistry and you really feel like they're looking out for each other with a strong sense of brotherhood.

The premise and worldbuilding of the universe the characters are living in feels decently fleshed out. There's enough explanation to make you believe this dystopian Korea is real and that the characters are believable.

The only letdown of this film is the writing. The plot seems a bit nonsensical at times and you wish characters did things differently. There's a scene where a gunfight happens in a hospital around other people but the bystanders in the hospital don't react to the violence around them, which I thought was kind of nonsensical and shows how the writers didn't pay attention to the little details of the movie. Also, there are moments where you wish the main characters had common sense and did things differently. The main characters have guns and its them vs the villain but they mess up many times and lack the instinct and motiviation to outwit the bad guy.

Anyway, this a good movie to turn your brain off and enjoy the thrills if you don't mind the poor writing. I would've been more than happy to pay money and see this in theaters.

So many talented actors and a hot garbage storyline

No Back story, No character development, No world building, and yes smoking cigarettes together = cool bromance.
The plot goes something like this:
3 people(best friends, trust each other a lot and 2 out of 3 have been in the army) armed with an M1, 2 Shotguns ,revolvers and pistols and wearing bulletproof vests, couldn't kill 1 guy trying to kill them for no FUCKING reason at all and also without protection. The End
HOT GARBAGE
further i have to complete 500 characters to put this review so ignore this :
