Actually quite nice and sweet

I had been putting off watching the En Of Love... series for quite some time now, but there was a slump in good BL dramas so I thought why not give it a shot. I was actually pleasantly surprised! The leads seemed to fit quite well together and although it did not crackle and sizzle, I felt quite a bit of chemistry. The gradually falling in love of Bar because of Gun's unrelentless but super sweet wooing was believable and there was start, middle and end to the story. Was there a real plot? No, but that is not always why we watch. Sometimes we just want romance and cuteness. And that is surely what we get in this one. Butterfly lever about 6 and quite re-watchable on another slump :)

- Cringe and bad development -

This first installment of the series did not completely convince me.
The story was interesting but it has a lot of holes, it's very fast and the characters don't have time to develop. I find their story beautiful but very superficial, I would have preferred to see it develop in a different and more truthful way.
Too bad, because it could have developed much better.

Cute story worth watching with some small flaws

I honestly enjoyed this short story more that I thought I would. Reading the reviews and seeing what the show was rated my expectations weren't high when I starting watching the show initially. Watching the show I found Bar and Gun to be cute together and I enjoyed the consent between them and the way they were able to have conversations with each other like adults. I also enjoyed seeing the growth of Bar's character and how he became more open and accepting with his relationship as well as affection for Bar. With this being said the show wasn't perfect and had some small flaws. The show was short and this led to the development of Bar and Gun to be rushed at times. Also the acting isn't the best I've seen. The actor that played Bar had better acting than the actor that played Gun. His acting needed a little bit of work, but it wasn't to the point of ruining the show for me. Besides the acting at times and the pacing of the story I didn't really have any other problems. I may be in the minority of my review of this show, but honestly I think reviews are a bit harsh and the story was pretty good for only having four episodes to work with.

The story of this 4 episode series is effortless. It doesn't have an elaborate back story nor a complicated twist, it just shows how Gun and Bar developed as a couple with minimal character development. That makes it easy to watch, at least for me.

I find the actor that played Gun, good looking but not as much as the story is trying to portray. I don't want to be mean, but casting is very important part of the story telling. It's his first series and I hope he will continue to improve himself. Even though this is just a small seriea, they managed to have a lot of supporting characters, which I find enjoyable to watch. Vee is cute. Beam is cute. Lol

I don't know, but I like TOSSARA more than Love Mechanics. But they are equally good series.

Not as bad as it has unfortunately been made out to be.

Disclaimer: I don't review very often, so I would like you to give my thoughts some thought.

Granted, it isn't the best BL (looking at you, episode one)- but I loved the communication. The way Bar slowly gains confidence in his relationship is so wonderful to see!

I'll admit, Gun's character could have done better, and the pushy/overly enthusiastic behavior (NOT between the leads, I meant between Bar and his friend group) kind of put me off, but I don't think it's something that should diminish the series as a whole.
Did I mention the AMAZING consent & communication between the lead characters?

No hate, but the top review is from the perspective of that person. I would consider myself a "long-time BL fan", and I don't have too many qualms against this series. After all, a cheesy and predictable BL is something we all need once in a while.

I'm being repetitive, but i'll say it agin for the people in the back- consent is sexy... and this series is very, VERY sexy.

TL;DR– It's not as bad as it seems. I suggest you watch it YOURSELF, and then decide whether you like it or not.

The first con to this series is the pacing was severely rushed throughout the series as if the writers wanted to cram in as much from the book as they could (quantity over quality). I understand that the writers only had four episodes to work with, but that makes it all the more important to carefully select which scenes from the novel to adapt, make sure the writing is super tight, and that every single word and interaction has meaning behind it so that not a second is wasted.

Bar's character was very confusing to me because from the very first episode we see Gun constantly force himself into Bar's life, control who Bar can and can't speak to while Bar responds with looks of disgust, discomfort, and flat-out refusal.
Yet on the other hand even though Bar didn't seem to show interest with those nasty faces towards Gun, he would offer Gun to come to dinner with him, or he would accept Gun's rides to school even though he didn't seem to want it going by his expressions. Bar's character is really hard to read because the way he looks and acts around Gun seems to go against the way he's actually feeling around Gun. It's clear he wants to be around him even though he refuses him. He's not an easy character to read and I presume this is due to bad writing.

Moving on to the acting which also relates to Bar's behavior of one minute giving Gun the refusal face to the next minute riding with him in a car or willingly hanging out with him. It feels very forced and not natural whatsoever. The chemistry between the 2 boys for me just doesn't exist until the very last episode. Everything about them feels uncomfortable to watch and very awkward, some scenes you might even find yourself skipping.
The acting on both ends simply just wasn't good whatsoever.

The problem with Gun in here is the fact that he seems somewhat controlling, before they got in a relationship and even after he was always making Bar's decisions for him without even hearing Bar's say in it all. When Bar's friends ask him to go to the bar together, instead of letting Bar answer, Gun just says "no he's not going" and in that regard I don't respect him, but in the regard I do respect him in is he's very good about consent during kissing or sexual activity, you can tell he truly cares about the comfort of his boyfriend, which brings me to the fourth episode where their actually a couple. Now I'll tell you why I enjoyed the episode, not only because of the consent (which many series don't have), but also because we saw Bar's mature side.

When Gun was acting childish and only thinking about missing Bar, wanting to be around Bar, even if that means skipping class and forgetting responsibilities, Bar brings him back to his senses and tries to help him think about his own future and love himself and not only worry about spending time together. He helps teach him to be responsible and not only think about their relationship. It shows he actually cares about his boyfriends future and wellbeing. Bar is very straightforward and uses common sense while also being loving, caring and kind.
Something I will point out is if you are for natural cute kissing scenes, this isn't the right series for you, the kisses here are barely pecks.

Now something I loved about the series from it's start to finish is when Gun & Bar were upset about something and had a problem they didn't just avoid each other and create a bunch of unnecessary drama as most other series do, instead if they noticed one was upset or had an issue they talked to each other about it and worked things out right then and there and understood each other. Communication is the number one thing boy love series lack in my opinion, so it's nice to see a change. Bar & Gun properly communicate and disagree, without insulting each other or fighting which is a rare thing to see.

Last but not least, there were scenes that they blatantly copied from more popular boy love series word for word, action for action which bothered me, and I also didn't like the typical thing of one going from straight to gay within an instant, the series clearly isn't very original but most really aren't. Also the production quality was not very good. That's all I have to say, I spent over an hour putting this together so I hope it helped as many people as it could. I'm glad I watched it because the last episode made it worth it, but all in all I wouldn't recommend it.

I lasted about twenty minutes and turned it off to come and check the reviews on here.

The reviews agree that my instinct was correct and that ‘off’ was the best thing to do with this show.

In the few minutes I watched I found the lead actor rather creepy and sorry to be shallow, too unattractive for the part given that he was referred to by the supporting cast as some sort of hunk! A hunk he was not. If you’re saying hunk I want a hunk. When it started I though he was a support character rather than a lead.

Life is too short for me to go any further with this show.

It's not spectacularly terrible or anything! The cons just far outweighed the pros for me.

TOSSARA is O.K. enough if you are willing to bear with it. Perhaps you, reader, would be more forgiving than I am, ahaha! I would've given the 2nd episode a shot, however, the reality is that I have more shows lined up and ready to be watched, so, I dropped it. There were simply things that I disliked, both technical and otherwise.

For instance, the sound. I found that the inconsistency in the audio bugged me a lot. Especially the voiceovers, where the recordings were not polished, and the quality of audio sounded different from one another. Sometimes, there would also be these slightly awkward silences when they're reading comments or text messages. That ticked me off, too.

Gotta admit though, the character Gun's voice at a low register is so pleasing to listen to.

The characters, most of them were actually fun! There was the slight charm of TOSSARA feeling, natural (?), for lack of a better word. The acting isn't cringe-to-the-bones, it was just right. But I guess in the end, the plot at the beginning didn't engage me enough so as to keep me watching.

Perhaps, in a later time, I would have the heart to pick this up again. Until then, I'll catch up on other shows.
