The original book is best seller in JPN, and K-drama did great job making this movie

The original novel is very popular in JPN and I had to read it twice to fully understand the twist in the end. That’s why it was said to be impossible to make movie or drama of this book. I watched the JPN movie version then watched this Korean version. Both are made well despite the hard story to make in movie.

I also experience long distance relationship , so I was able to relate to main couple. Some reviews criticized the cheating issues, but this drama’s core is the ENDING. . It’s a fantasy so you cannot take it too seriously.

I wonder how many viewers are able to guess what is the outcome. Very interesting story and recommend to watch for some fun.

Fun

I'm not surprised by the low ratings (the topic is controversial after all), but I'm glad I watched this one. I heard there was a twist coming, but I didn't predict it. It made for an excellent reveal at the end, and I think it's the right message for this story.

The whole security guard addition was puzzling and unnecessary. Otherwise, the story was tight. I like the characterization of our two main leads. Krystal was meh as usual, and so was Lee Jang Hyeok at the beginning. But the idea of this wary couple, trying so earnestly but struggling from an endless commute and overwork? So relatable, and portrayed so well too.

I also like the parallelism at the end and the choices our protagonists made. It's not clear who drove who away, or who's more at fault. How'd we end up here? Excellent question.

This movie was like its title, sweet and sour.

This movie was like its title, sweet and sour. When the truth was finally revealed, it tasted bitter.
I wonder what will happen to the child. Will lee jang hyuk (the guy staying at the hospital) be able to accept that Da Eun is pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's baby, they even have similar names so I can imagine how he might react to that.
I feel disgusted after watching this...
Lots of loopholes in the plot and what the hell was the security guard doing, meddling in their affairs.. and why does the security guard look like a CEO?
I don't like the ending. It made it seem as though the other's love interest was a revival. I think the end of the movie should show that they are no longer compatible, and I found someone else better along the way. This will close something the parent didn't do.

Really good background noise

I never condone cheating in any capacity but this movie really highlights how serious emotional infidelity can be. Once you check out of a relationship emotionally then no amount of physical presence can really bring you back. This movie is very realistic about how relationships are very fragile and can be broken by just about anything. I will say, I think her abortion really affected Da eun more than we see. Jang Hyuk's reaction to her news was probably everything she needed to realize he had checked out. Just saying.

I, unfortunately, saw the spoilers before I watched so it didn't surprise me but I enjoyed the movie still.

Loved that this movie's ending caused such havoc online!!
Because the ending is realistic and she the female lead - PROUDLY made the right choice.

Shocked, annoyed and simply disappointed that the main lead did NOT ONCE mention his girlfriend the ENTIRE time. With every encounter he had with his work co-worker. - That's SHADY behavior already.

Also that old security guard setting them up like that is just unnecessary - like your trying to live out your fantasies through younger , better looking young men and push pressurize them into doing the dirty so you can feel some second hand ooemmph.

LOVED the sweet and kindhearted boy she took with her to Jeju Island - this just proves that its NOT about the way someone looks (which it seems is EXTRA important in KDrama culture). Its about the way they treat and respect you. Love is an ACTION word!!

This movie actually left me stunned at the end. As someone who usually predicts plot fairly accurately, this left me confused and somewhat disappointed. I went to Google to find out what happened. I was amazed once I realised how much of the plot I missed. And it's so easy to do so if you don't take a closer look and pay attention to the hints. In that case it seems like a predictable, horrible and gutting movie. Once you do pay attention it transforms into an amazing story with a heart warming twist and a satisfying ending.

I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this movie even almost a day after watching it. The story and twists were something I did not see coming and had me rethinking everything I had just watched.

-- Spoilers Below --

The way this movie is laid out, I thought that she had fallen in love with him and he lost weight for her and it was the same guy the entire time. Skip ahead... we're all in a huge hidden twist.

Hyuk was likable and funny in the spots that we got to know him at his job and he definitely tried to make an effort with Da Eun. He was coming back home every night to see her, granted it was just to sleep, but he made that commute and took the time to do that for her. It was hard to like him during the pregnancy scenes because of how obviously detached he was from the whole entire situation. It's also around the same time that it becomes obvious how much he likes Bo Yeong. It's also hard to watch their relationship knowing that Da Eun is an hour away working while him and a co-worker are flirting. He shouldn't have given in so easily to the flirtation and temptation of another woman before fully breaking it of with Da Eun.

Speaking of her, her character was incredibly likable and sweet in the beginning. She was a nurse that went above and beyond to make sure her patients got the best care and healed quickly. In the scenes after the beginning, she becomes incredibly cold to Hyuk and you can tell that the shift of him getting a job in the city was huge in their relationship. During their long distance relationship, she doesn't really put in too much of an effort and wants him to do all of the work and help even though he is commuting to work. During the pregnancy, she also is so detached and I couldn't tell if she was even excited at all about it. She tells him to go wait in the car and seems stressed talking about it at all, even when she was depressed afterwards.

This all makes sense towards the end, after Hyuk mistakenly called Da Eun Bo Yeong's name, the two split up and go separate ways because Da Eun senses that he is cheating on her. Months go by and he begins a relationship with Bo Yeong as they finish their project for the city. He goes to meet up with Da Eun who hasn't cancelled their vacation to Juju Island yet and changes her name to insinuate meeting him. When he arrives at the airport he sees Da Eun and goes for an embrace, where he bumps into a man... The man from the very beginning.

It turns out the entire time almost Da Eun was cheating on Hyuk already. She had met Hyeok at the hospital and slowly fell in love with him and started inviting him over at night. Their relationship stretched out even after Da Eun and Hyuk break up. He is the guy she's planning on going to Juju Island with and that's what they end up doing. Hyuk curses and goes back to Bo Yeong who he confesses he has feelings for, he asks for her hand in marriage and she says she isn't ready for that yet. It basically ends on that note of things and had me really conflicted on if I liked it or not.

I couldn't like either character at all really, I felt for Da Eun until the end when it showed she was actually cheating on Hyuk first and then it clicked as to why she seemed so cold and detached around him. It made me rethink everything like why she aborted their baby, which is probably because it was Hyuek's, why she blamed him for abandoning said baby when she was literally cheating on him behind his back, and made me just feel so icky for the both of them.

Misleading trailer...AGAIN

The Asian drama world is notorious for creating trailers that are completely and totally misleading, as seen here yet again. The trailer makes this movie look like a rom-com, but in reality, it's just meh - it's not fun or comical, more of a melo. The ending is a true twist that I 100% did not see coming, which was cool, but at the same time, by the end of the movie I was kind of like, "ugh, what a messed up relationship."

To be completely transparent: I am really not the intended audience for this kind of movie. It's about adultery, which I just don't find entertaining at all. And while my best friend told me it likely wasn't my speed, I wanted to watch it because... THE TRAILER...ugh you K-drama useless trailers. >.<

I wouldn't recommend Sweet & Sour to really anyone.

genuinely entertaining

despite the low ratings from a lot of people i actually enjoyed watching it ! it was a fun lighthearted movie to watch and i admit it was a waste because the casts were so good but the plot was rather disappointing (even though i enjoyed it). just thought they could've done so much more with the casts. a wasted potentiaaal.

the climax was literally unimpactful i would've preferred if she slapped him or something instead of a fight in the middle of a drivethru . which wasn't even resolved by thee way. i SAW the vision the team who worked on this movie had but in a way i feel like it would be better if it was a 3ep drama since i felt like there were sm things lacking in between the chemistry of the characters & the characters themselves. i get their main focus but the little things count too.

as for the twist @ the end , tbh i expected it since they never clarified the timeline for it. it just sucks because i know they both still have unresolved feelings for each other i would've preferred if they had closure on that. also > where did the baby go < ... its funny because the lack of attention and affection and the distance adding on to their relationship was what lead to searching for attention from someone else & receding feelings for each other. also the writers never showed how in love they were !! it would've add sm more flavor and angst ! ugh

nevertheless i see myself rewatching this movie because the leads are very hot people and im just a bad movie enjoyer. if you have time to watch it then go ahead but you wouldn't rlly miss out on anything if you don't watch it ( except vry hot people working tgt )

Neither sweet nor sour but bitter

It took me time to digest the plot twist at the end after watching it because only the plot twist will make you think about the movie or else everything is tasteless here.

Can't blame them too cause the trailer was clearly potraying how the movie will be so it's just another romcom k-movie with way too simple plot. The jacket scene was funny and I couldn't understand what's the role of that mysterious man here maybe it was his conscience. You keep doubting on soobin's innocence. Jang ki yong's expressions are improved; and that breakup scene was so good I felt cheated by my nonexistent bf in that scene lol

So if you have some time to spend and you don't want to watch something heavy so you can watch it.
