The acting is great. The setting is great. The emotional pulls are great. The premise is great. The cast is great. I don't even know where to begin.
Perfect cast. Song Joong Ki plays a mute boy, which is in itself the hardest kind of character to play. Everything conveyed in that character must be shown through body language, and Joong Ki NAILED it. I'm sure there were several laughs as some adorable scenes were shot, because it's almost impossible NOT to smile when Cheol-su is learning to wait before eating, or how to tie his shoes. In addition, Park Bo Young does a superb job of showing her character's transition from a depressed and physically weak teen to a strong and courageous young lady. I won't even mention that one asshole.
The story itself is something that has probably been done in some shape or form before: one character is raised by animals, and the other cleans them up and teaches them how to be human. But the way that it was executed is different and unique and because the script is so strong, it makes the production as a whole that much stronger (combined with the cast performing marvelously makes it strong enough to withstand having a steel beam fall on it).
It was cute, it was fun, it was dark, and it was a roller coaster of "he did not just do that" and "can't you see the truth here!?" The ending was beautiful (though not the way I would have liked it to go), pulling at just the right heartstrings to make you wonder what could have been.
I definitely recommend watching this movie.

First of all, the story isn't exceptionally original. It's been done numerous times but nonetheless, it doesn't stop it from being poignant and unsettling to some degree.
Song Joong Gi plays a boy who as the summary states appears to have been raised by wolves. He is discovered when Park Bo Young's character moves to the countryside due to her sickness and he happens to have been inhabiting the shed of the place that they just moved in to. Park Bo Young's family eventually pick him up because they cannot find anyone to adopt him and so the story is triggered.
This story isn't really about a werewolf. It's about monsters. Song Joong Gi's unrefined character through living with Park Bo Young's family starts a transformation to become human or to attain human qualities. He develops an affection towards Park Bo Young's character amidst his transformation and they develop quite a bond. However, due to numerous predicaments, he reverts into a "monster" and is dubbed as dangerous. However, a "monster" in appearance is not a monster at heart and in watching the movie you start to distinguish who exactly the real monster is.
The tale is somewhat light hearted but with very heavy moments that made me sweat a little from my eyes. However, I lamented a little that we never truly delve into any important details regarding Song Joong Gi's character. It's mentioned but not shown. It's not ridiculously relevant but I would have liked to know. Also, the villain is somewhat stereotypical and other than being a rich arse hole, there's not much we know about him. However, I guess his character is relevant in the success of this plot. However, the philosophical undertones didn't stop me from wondering what his story was. Take that as my need to always over think things.
Overall, a very poignant story with minor flaws.

No other movie could give that kind of.... peaceful feeling??! While watching it like this one could, people say it's sad, but i don't think it is, when i watched it i didn't feel sad nor happy i just felt at ease maybe?! i dunno what i'm saying... but i know that loved it more than any other movie ? it's just that kinda movies that leaves you speechless.
The story was perfect from the beginning till the end, for me, the best part was the end: it's just the most suitable ending for this movies, i can't imagine any other one ...
The acting was flawless, every single member of the cast was a pro, especially song joong ki ... i thought he was a real wolf in his other life ! after seeing him in this movie he became, not only my favourite actor, but also my ultimate bias ?
As for the OST ... i'm totally addicted to "My prince" ?.? OMG !! it is just amazing and Park Bo Young's sweet voice make it even better, i listen to that song daily more than 10 times ...
It's totally worth watching! i rewatched it 3 times and i think it's not enough

But in all seriousness, this is a good melodrama. Really strong performances from most most of the cast, and it looks GORGEOUS. The main villain is sort of cartoonish (think Snidely Whiplash) but I think that's OK in a film like this. I enjoyed it. I may even watch it again someday!

The story was endearing, though I personally think the plot moved a bit slow. Or maybe I was just too sleepy at the time, and two hours was too much for me then. What I liked the most about this movie though was that I never expected to laugh so much. I thought it was a really heavy melo, but it proved me wrong. I think I may have laughed more than I cried. But the thing is, the moment I started crying, it was too hard to stop. The acting was very outstanding. Considering that Song Joong Ki barely spoke, his acting was really impressive. As for Park Bo Young, I never saw her in anything than this, but she's quite good. She just grew in me unknowingly as I watched.
Overall, this movie is indeed a masterpiece, and deserves all the love it's getting. And I'm not saying this out of my love for Song Joong-ki. But then again, he definitely owned this movie. He is the heart of it, hence the title.

I'll get to the point. The movie was as expected and publicized a BIG HIT. I loved the touching story, not just the romantic side of it but the humane part as well. In other words, not just the relationships between the two main leads but also the ones between the family members (especially the mother and Choel-Soo's) But of course the main attraction was how Sun-Ee's feeling towards Choel-Soo gradually develop from "Disgust" to "Curiosity" to "friendship" and finally to "Love".
The acting....well there's nothing to say above the rating I gave. more than anything Song Joong-Ki did a MARVELOUS job expressing all the character's complex emotions through his eyes (I've noticed through watching Innocent Man that he particularly excels in that field) To think that such a new and rarely played character came out so nicely expressed without the use of a single word!! Park Bo-young also did a wonderful job there's not one scene where you felt her acting was not good enough.
I have some minor objections mostly regarding the action scenes especially the CG used in the transformation scenes was simply horrible, a bit of an insult to the Korean Cinema industry.
I have yet to watch the director's cut with the alternative ending, looking forward to it.
It's a movie that has laughs, smiles, tears and even sobbing. If you're the type that easily cries watching movies and dramas, don't forget to get packed with some tissues, and if you're not the type that cries easily, I think you should also keep some at hand just in case ;-)
So, now that decent (but not official) English subs are out, anyone who had been looking forward to watching this, I suggest you do now fast.

CAN SOMEONE STARE AT THE POSTER AND FIND PARK BOYOUNG LOOKS LIKE JOONGKI a little?First of all, I didn't cry. And I don't like the ending.
BUT I LOVE THE PROCESS OF THE STORY. It's unique. And I totally say this: this is not a werewolf movie. You can't judge the movie by its title.
(I might give spoilers unconsciously)
WHILE WATCHING, YOU'LL NEED: Pillows to squeeze, and water. to live.
Song Joongki here is a lovely pet. His acting is near natural. Near natural, because I remember taking note that I find him funny playing innocent at first (but the following minutes I find it natural). And also the girl's acting. It's really cute. They are cute. Not the type you would ship, but the type that you could consider.
Most especially Joongki's learning process. How do you teach someone to eat without finishing everyone's plate in one go? Joongki ate a lot here. The discipline he got is so cute.
Everything's cute, until you see the ending.
I hated the ending. I should stop here I guess.
