this is what happen when the leads have no chemistry and poor acting!

watch 10 episodes so far.

1. This drama looks like one with budget, since the CGI is beautiful. Scenery is breathtaking. Pictures are awesome
2. That's too bad we dont only live for that.
I like Xu Kai Cheng in well intended love and even Moonshine and Valentine! He really clicks with simona the female lead!. I guess that's whats also making the drama get its 2nd season and attract viewers. the Acting and Chemistry
here: oh my... the acts are sooooo horrible. I know the female lead is pretty, but she definitely needs to learn.
She's main component in the drama, and when she sucks, she drags the whole cast.
Xu Kai is talented and handsome actor. He just didnt nail in here.
The chemistry is so poor, I dont feel sad when I had too, happy when i supposed too, or got buttefly in stomach when the scene is intended too.
3. Saying that I have just finished romance of tiger and rose: Xu Kai, might have to learn from Ryan Ding in term of chemistry?
4. I just finished love by hypnotic, see how Allen Ding act as cold leader? see how he transformed? even the second male lead as Yun Xi. done a superb job eventhough he's a newbie
5. Have the director watch Hua Rong from Romance of Hua Rong? see the acts? see the chemistry? and it doesnt even have the big budget or stunning CGI Dance of the phoenix have, or Eleanor Lee from Fake Princess??
6. story is weak.
I continue watching hopinng that just might (even slight) change in story or chemistry,
sadly not until episode 10

ps. I like Wang Hao Xuan acts. He delivers. also Caesar Guo.

Poor script, absurd ending.

the story is interesting, but the script is so bad. poor script that make every scene looks like a "twist".

the earlier part of story isn't clear enough, about who is the "new" Feng Wu, why she know medicine? why she came to become Feng Wu? the ending is absurd. at the end, "new" Feng Wu is just a disposable summoned soul ??

the acting of main character is well enough but the side character act is just so-so, fortunately they are all beauties.

the good thing is, the one deserved to die is died.

good but not to watch it on repeat

This story is good, it's just that in my opinion the plot is messy, I don't really understand the storyline, i don't get the end or the beginning. I don't understand why she suddenly entered Feng Wu's body and don't understand why she has to leave in the end. The synopsis says that Feng Wu is from the modern world but Feng Wu doesn't know her true identity from the beginning to the end of the story. I was quite annoyed at the final chapter, when they were about to get married, teacher Feng Wu took Feng Wu away, why???. To be honest, this really wastes my time while watching it.
This is just my opinion, I know everyone's opinion when watching it is different.
That is all and thank you<3

Started promising. Ended meh

It started promising. Like the costume, and intro was good. But then as the story progress, the chemistry between leads are somewhat lost? Also dont judge me please but I think there is something lacking about the female lead, the male lead became not stoic too quickly and um "im not sure about this" ah but I think they change feng wu`s personality. Based on my glimpse, feng wu in the novel is supposed to have a somewhat reserved and quiet personality and she is supposed to be a very bright student which was not really emphasized in the drama. It is hard to explain what is lacking because I havent read the whole novel. Cant make an accurate comparison. Or Probably, the phasing was too quick and a lot of parts were too implied that when viewers havent read the novel, they will really get confused with the plot. I actually look up the net to understand some other parts.

I really hate open ended ambiguous endings

The story was fairly good up to last two minutes of the end. Let me take that back. Besides the crappy last couple of ambiguous minutes, there was also no explanation of the FL's back story. If the original novel was this bad, it is a wonder it was developed into a drama.

With Scarlett Heart, both the Chinese and Korean dramas, similar story of the FL taking over the life of another individual, the audience at least had closure with the ML experiencing a little karma for choosing politics over love, but leaving a window of hope for the couple in the ML's next incarnation.

Now I will get off my soap box to say the leads, was well as the side characters, were engaging. They all had great chemistry. The antagonists had no redeeming qualities. One might pity Quin Luan just a little, because she constantly had Wu's accolades rubbed in face, but she always had an alternate choice. The rest of the antagonists were pathetic losers who were driven by ugly obsessions.

Due to the poor ending, I will not be rewatching this drama.

listen

this drama, i thought it was gonna be super good with the fighting (which it was so dobt get me wrong) but i just wanna say if u wanna get super excited and then get super upset right after then go watch it. this drama had a really good plot tbh and if they put effort into it then it would be hella good but it was just ugh. at some points when i thought the main charcater was going to fight the second lead evil girl aka goddess zuo i think, i was expecting them to have a really bad ass fight but noooo then i thought it was gonna be smth even better but lemme tell yall, whoever wrote the story for the end was just tired and didnt try cuz it seemed to me feng wu didnt use all of her powers to show evergone what it really was they just put a little sprinkle and called it a day AND LISTEN HOW COULD THE QUEEN JUST KILL HERSELF LIKE THAT, OTHER CITY MASTERS OR QUEENS DIDNT GO DOWN WITH A FIGHT NO MATTER HOW WEAK THEY WERE BUT SHE WAS LIKE OKAY KEMME JUST DIE. also clearly this drama has nothing to do eith a modern day studeny cuz the drama never said anything abt a modern world, its more like she got her spirit switched out with someone else but that someone doesnt rmr shit.

Incomplete?

Guys, it was bad. My only explanation to the ending... and beginning, is that the production ran out of money or the writer disappeared and no one else was able to fill in the gaps. I watched it until the very end because I was committed to Xu Kai Cheng, what a handsome man and he did a great job with his character. Otherwise, I would not have finished it. Overall the characters felt flat, no depth to them... Particularly our leading lady. The narrative makes it sound like she is coming from the future-- well, first of all, there was no reference to that from the very first episode, and sadly at the end, she is taken back to... we have no idea where. No goodbyes, no indication or reference as to how the other characters may process her absence. It was such a downer. I am ok if they were going for the Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo kind of ending, but at least give us some closure, you know? The poor man basically was stood up on his own wedding and we had no idea how he processed that. Save yourself the disappointment, go watch something else.

a promising beginning...but..

it was a promising plot. i thought it would be exciting until the end but it turns out it was the opposite. it was dull, boring, bland. too common plot. predictable.
i must admit i got hooked on the first 15 minutes of the 1st episode i thought it would be worth my while like i said it was boring. the first episode was good though...
the leads needs more acting lessons although they are nice to watch..because you know they are trying. i almost gave up on this drama if it werent for the curiosity on wether she can awaken the her xifu. i was left hanging towards the end. questions unaswered. mystery unsolved. totally a waste of time.

Over-rated cdrama with some A-list actors

Silly plot line with a disappointing ending, saved only by the memorable performances by Xu Kai Cheng and Vardy Wang. Yang Chao Yue’s acting comes across rather wooden as Feng Wu, like she was detached from the whole romantic affair with Jun Lin Yuan. On the other hand, Xu Kai Cheng gives us another strong performance as Jun Lin Yuan . He never fails to impress us as a great actor who can display his talent as both a comedic and serious actor as well. Furthermore, Vardy Wang woos our hearts once again with his heartfelt performance as the demon lord’s son Yu Ming Ye.
Honorable mention is Feng Ming Jing‘s performance as the Shadow Assassin. Coming from the high-profile cdrama The Untamed, he showed what great acting skills he has, as the two characters he portrayed in each drama were very different

Brownface and fatphobia, really?? That was so annoying.

The plot was ok but not outstanding, the relationship between the two leads kind of boring and sexist (come on, why can't she have ONE fight without him saving her?). I liked the relationship between Zhao Ge and Xuan Yi, it's sweet, but the fatphobia ruins it a little.
Actually, I was really in to the tragic characters. I especially loved Mu Yao, she had a complex character and her relationship with Zuo Qing Luan was very interesting. And Yu Ming Ye had a very sad storyline which was quite emotional.

Oh, I liked the ending tho! I hope that there will be no season two. The plottwist was so surprising! :)

Mostly Good, Poor Finish

I really enjoyed this drama for the first 20 or so episodes. After that, the story seemed to become slightly messy, scenarios didn't make a lot of sense (particularly towards the end) and it just felt very rushed. The ending really disappointed me too. Some examples of when it felt quite rushed included Mingye's disappearance after the lightning incident that lost him his arm. Also when crown prince Jun was "killed" it was swept past and forgotten about. The last episode felt like a rushed mess, and it was quite confusing.

E.g. second couple die, magically reappear at the end with a one line explanation of how they could still be alive (which i didnt even notice at first and had to rewatch), Master Mu supposedly gave up his spiritual energy to crown price Jun (which felt like a sacrafice) but still turned up at the wedding to take the bride away (i assume to the world she came from) with literally no explanation of what was going on. I can't accept the fact that the character would just choose to leave everything behind. The fact that a character that was always portrayed as a good character (master Wu) could so quickly turn so bad when he showed no signs of his past love affecting him ever before.

This sounds negative but I promise it isn't. Most of the drama flows well and the story makes outstanding sense. A really enjoyable drama for those parts!

Fantastic episodes 1-29 but a questionable 30

I enjoyed episodes 1-29 thoroughly and was wondering during these episodes why it lost out to 'A female student arrives at the Imperial College' in rating on mydramalist.com. Both dramas featured the tall handsome Xu KaiCheng with settings in an academy. Being a fantasy drama, this story was definitely more interesting. My question was answered in the last episode when it ended wishy-washy and open-ended with a lot of unanswered questions. In contrast, the ending for the Imperial College drama was very well crafted - heart-rending and yet with positive vibes.

The beginning and ending of a drama are very important. The beginning determines whether we would watch on, the ending leaves the parting impression. This ending looks like it is preparing for a sequel but as we all know, sequels can take years before it can even start filming - just look at Joy of Life. And at times a flop - like the sequel to Journey of Flower.

However, I enjoyed the humour during the initial one-third as the reincarnated and cunning Feng Wu (lead female) tricked Jun LingYuan (lead male) and Yu Ming Ye (second male lead) who were from two opposing camps and played them against each other. Her ultimate aim was to steal the celestial fruit to help her regain her lost power. Subsequently, they ended up in the same academy while a conspiracy was brewing. The intense rivalry was attention riveting too.

The second lead was Wang Hao Xuan who acted the good-looking evil Xue Yang from The Untamed, who left a deep impression. As I realised, he has a lot of fans from that drama. In terms of actresses, the leading actresses were all very good looking, especially the second lead.

Excellent backdrop, interesting scenes (except the last), good looking cast and some would even say nice music. Watch and you may enjoy it but be ready for a disappointing ending.
