Not very put together.

In all honesty, this was a bad drama. At first, it was to my liking, but the main storyline had already been overshadowed by other things as time went on. I was also very disappointed in the ending. It's nothing confusing about the show, but it still just didn't feel complete at all. I was also still left with a lot of unanswered questions. The female lead was super immature and impulsive. Her decisions always left someone having to clean her mess up and it got very annoying after the first three times. The male lead is petty and doesn't listen. He always does things(Kind of similar to the female lead) without thinking and listening to the other party. The guard of Prince Yu and his love interest are lowkey the best characters in this drama. Either way, I would not recommend this drama to anyone who is looking for an actual plot and not just plain fluff. The acting was also bad. That drama was just as all over the place as my review just now.

Adorable main leads :D

I love this drama especially the love-hate relationship between the two main leads.
I loved the aura of the male lead-Prince Yu. I dare you all to finish this drama. Truly, I sometimes hated the female lead for her poor delivery of the dialogues. Also, for almost all the episodes, the female lead acted weak and doesn't know wuxia, then at the episode finale, she did showcase her martial skills. I totally in vague hahaha xD
Moreover, what I like the most in this drama is the jealousy scenes between Prince Yu and Jiyan. Indeed, she's a legend. Prince Yu did ignore all his consorts except a girl named Jiyan:D

For me this is a filler drama where liberal use of ff button is needed.

It is a drama focused on the romance of the immature leading characters. Plenty of good looking cast members but there is no great chemistry, love story nor overarching plot/ story.

It is hard to like the silly and stupid character of the FL as well as the petty and petulant ML. You’ll find yourself rolling your eyes at ridiculous scenes (ie FL and dowager queen “drowning” when ML, 2ML and solder who came to the “rescue” are standing the water, monkey in a party).

If you are looking at the reviews to check if you’d push through and watch this series, I’d recommend that you skip it … unless you are big fans of the cast of actors/actresses and would gladly plod on 34 episodes.

Bipolar frustrating annoying characters

Initial thoughts FL was frustrating...then turned to annoying. It felt like the characters were bipolar or the characters lines were stitched from several different stories just to buff up an episode length.

34 episodes was far too many. I got to 10 and thought I will bare it till the end to be able to complete it on mydramalist. It was torture.

This is NOT a rewatch drama. This is not a binge watch. For many it is not even a watch once.

I thought it had potential. Actors could act however the story and character motivations were not logical or consistent.

Its really bad

Ok i start with ep 1 - ok i think dis is fun
Ep 2 - things getting good
Ep 3 - things start to go downhill.. but still acceptable
Ep 4 - ok just gona watch when she reveal herself
Ep 5-27 still nothing ! Its like im watching 5 years old kid who needs to be scolded!
Most of the time i can tolerate stupidity, but the lead female char is so stupid/clumsy/etc that half way i was rooting for her to die. Just kill her already. I like her sister char very subtle, u cant read shes good or evil, and also the princes and the princess dowager. In fact i like everything about the movie except the lead female character! My advice.. dont waste your time and watch it! There are so many costume chinese drama that are much much better than this.

First Sight Love do Exist - eh?

I have been waiting for several weeks for this series to finished airing - Yes I don't watch ongoing series up until it finished.

Finally Tencent Videos Apps / WeTV released the final subbed 6 episodes and I swoosh in and finished it in just 10 hours.
Each episodes are worth 35 minutes (inc intro and credits) and there are 34 episodes in total - imagine how many hours have I skipped.

I totally agree with previous review - there are some unnecessary plots that they shouldn't have added to make it more action-drama and the story is very fluffy and if you enjoy seeing the main couple to be the highlight, you'll definitely love this series! <3

I'm not going to said this is fluffy and light, I'll said it's very fluffy and a little heavy.

That aside, let me summarize this story up for those of you who wanted to watch it and is looking for a bit of spoiler (I always did before I stepped into a new drama because my heart cannot take bad ending!). Take note that I did not read the novel and this is solely my opinion.

Story - 7/10
I've wanted to rate this as 8 but then as I went from one episodes to another, the plot keeps bothering, triggering and confusing my simple and hopeless romantic heart. As they tried to center to the love of FL & ML, they cut a lot of explanation on how the side story flows (side story here is any story not related to MC's love story).

Episodes 1 to 14: Where the love develops and the most fluffy of all. How the FL fall in love at the first sight and her persistent to make him leave the palace to be with her is super cute. How ML slowly developing his feelings for her too and how he always tried to save her when she was in trouble. Here is where you notice the two-faced of 2nd ML and where you'll stop rooting for him.

Episodes 15 to 29: Where the love has made the palace turned upside down. It is annoying how the story can be easily solve with just a few honesty but no, FL still trying to protect her 'family' and apparently, his father status was never brought up anymore compare to the earlier episodes. As they tried to get 2nd ML to support the city, I cannot stop wondering few actions taken. Here are where I skipped most of the episodes (since I'm getting sleepy), but as I went through it again today to write this, I notice how few of the side story was developing within this episodes. It will keep you questionable on his actions at first. Here is when their General - Maid love turned to Prince - Maid love.

Episodes 30 to 32: Here's where they slowly unwrap the characters and stories but bringing in more devastating action. It is somehow very nice to see Princess Rong Jing which was another logic FS. She helps FL more than her own sister and I'll say, this is real devotion. The story develops and misunderstanding however keeps the story on the way that it annoyed me. But here's when his so-called sacrifice and foolishness at it's max.

Episodes 33 to 34: The story is ending and the truth finally was spoken. Apparently all ML do is for 2ML sake and Queen Dowager is still annoying af. Apparently ML was just a puppet in the city politics just to safe the MF 2ML. What a twist. I think the ending was a bit rush and irrelevant but I'm still happy that ML and FL get each other at last - hey, love win.

Acting - 7.5/10
I was on re-watching binge of The Eternal Love of Dream and I cannot help myself comparing Su Jin's character with Feng Jiu. I will definitely can see Dilraba's Feng Jiu style of acting with how Kabby Hui carries Su Jin's - being that both are supposed to be young, cute and foolish of love.

At first, I wanted Ryan Zhang to be first ML since I love him in The Flame's Daughter but as I went into more episodes, I now understand why he was the SML. He really fit the mischievous, despicable and devious kind of character on how he potrays Jing Hong - although he was very adorable in TFD.

I just knew that this is Chen Jing Ke debuted drama and oh how lucky he is to be debuted as ML. His acting skills is a bit questionable sometimes but I would say he learnt a lot and it gets better when you get into more episodes. I love how broad his shoulders is and how well his costume looks on him. His body is unffffff--------- (please see episode ep 11)

I am pleased on how every casts are very pleasant looking, even up to small role as in side consort and maids.

Final Review
I don't mind the music at all but I don't think I will re-watch it anytime sooner. If I ever did, I will definitely just skipping to the ML & FL fluffiness and ignore all those stupid side story (besides Rong Jing and General Zhong's). Although the ending is a happy ending, it makes you flipped the last few minutes before you get the couple's good ending.

Overall, it is worth the watch and the score fit this movie well - 7.7 stars.

The most naive FL ever

I've watched a lot of C-Dramas, but I don't think I've ever seen such a naive and downright stupid female lead before. This is a new low for FLs in c-dramas. The character's lack of common sense and constant poor decision-making left me frustrated and unable to root for her. It's one thing to have a naive protagonist who grows and learns from her mistakes, but this FL seemed incapable of any personal growth or development.

Throughout the drama, the FL continuously fell for obvious traps and manipulations, making it hard to believe she had any intelligence at all. I couldn't help but cringe at her actions.

It was infuriating to see her make the same mistakes over and over again, without any learning curve or reflection.

Overall, I cannot recommend this drama to anyone looking for a strong, independent female lead. If you enjoy watching protagonists who lack basic common sense and make foolish decisions at every turn, then perhaps this drama is for you. However, if you prefer well-rounded and intelligent characters, I suggest looking elsewhere for your C-Drama fix.

Not Worth 34 Episodes

First this drama is to long it could of cut 10 episodes. The FL not only make everyone uncomfortable but could she have acted a little more grown up. We know she is trying to be naïve and innocent but she was annoying and I felt I was watching a 12 year old girl. The ML as stern as he acts, I kept wondering why he would fall in love with such an immature girl. There are some romantic scene but it could not convince me of any chemistry between them until the last 3 episodes. She seem in her own world with no care in the world but what was on her mind. Considering she was at the castle and she did what ever she want, acted like a brat and no fear that she could be punish. (not realistic) I love how she was missing and her parents did not worried until much later in the episodes. Even in the last episode were they try to fix everything in the last 15 minutes she still acts immature and like a child. Director give better direction to this actress. The story was not worth 34 episodes. I could say I only like the ML and supporting ML acting. They seem serious about there characters.

overall a cute fluffy romance centered drama

i'm actually surprised i finished the series while it was being aired, i thought so many times i was gonna drop it cause of all the bad reviews it got. anyways, the story itself is quite refreshing and unique from normal historical dramas, instead of the FL being the one getting into the forced marriage, it's the sister who gets into it and FL spends most of the story trying to help her get out. what i really didn't like about the drama was that the leads were basically hiding their identities the whole time and the truth never got out until the last eps. it's like they had even more secrets on top of the original ones. honestly the drama could have been 24 ep, it rlly didn't need that many ep to complete the story. actors wise, i actually really like the ML's acting and visual though it is his first piece of work. although the FL could work on her presentation, we need to keep in mind that she's only about 15 years of age. also the actor that played zhong li completely stole the show for me. his acting is quite good and he's rlly good looking haha. i would also wanted to have known about zhong li's background a bit more like maybe explanations to why he's cold and emotionless ? he's such an interesting character. i just wished the director put more scenes of him with rong jing especially at the end cause she only appeared in the last few ep :( i found their chemistry and convos more interesting than the main leads ngl. music wise the ost was pretty fitting for the scenes. so if you guys are wanting to find a lighthearted watch then this is for you.
