The team opens 2 boxes based on Jiu Shi’s hearing, one empty and the other containing a number for the lock. The other players take chances by opening the boxes so they can eat, and the Devil’s hand is revealed. It is used against Lan Zhu to open the Devil's box, but Jiu Shi intercedes, using the knife from Yan Shi He. They surmise that among the players, there is an informant working with the Devil.
