I don’t understand why some people hate it!

Judging from the comments I thought that I will really hate season 2. But that didn’t happen at all. I think the reason people find it different from season 1 it’s because we miss the heartbroken story of mun’s parents and Mo Tak’s past. in this season the protagonist isn’t only Mun but the villains as well. The story is more concentrated on the fight with the bad guys than on the personal stories of the Counters. But this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, is just something different. And I think it’s normal when we speak for a second season of something that had already reached the top. Give it a try! I think you will enjoy it.

Terrible comic adaptation

[Minor spoilers for comic]

As someone who’s read the webcomic after watching both tv seasons, the show is bad as both an adaptation and on its own. There are many more counters in the comic. Comic actually has two Korean teams, and they both work together to defeat Ji Chungshin. Yujin, Hansuk, and Beomchan are nowhere to be seen in the show. I would’ve loved to see more counters besides the main cast. The other counters they have in the show get killed off immediately. In the comics, two Chinese counters survive instead of all of them dying.

The counters are also much weaker in the show than in the comics. In the comics, Motak is the strongest counter in all of Asia, and Ms. Chu is one of 5 healers in the world. All of the Korean counters have psychokinesis by the end of season 2 in the comics. Counters only need an hour of sleep a day. They don’t need to sleep all night.

A bunch of storylines in the comic are resolved much more quickly than the show. The show stretches out stuff for so long, and even add pointless storylines.

- Motak doesn’t have a girlfriend in the comic, she was added to the show to be fridged.
- So Mun immediately decided to be a counter in the comic, show So Mun had to sleep on it. Comic Wigen immediately offers to let So Mun see his parents in Yung
- Motak never goes back to being a cop, he has the captain just give him info on cases.
- There are 8 Korean counters in the comic, not just 5
- Evil spirits cannot transfer to new bodies in the comics, that was dumb of the show to do.
- Ji Chungshin is a villain all throughout Season 1 of the comic, and he’s much more ruthless and scary.
- Pilkwang is only a minor villain in the comic, but the show makes him a main villain in season 2.
- Ma Juseok is actually introduced in the comics much earlier than the show. He’s also not a family friend of So Mun, they don’t know each other in the comics. His wife and kid died 7 years before the comic started, not during the story. Comic Juseok was already in prison for killing two scammers
- Hana’s family died because her mom got scammed by the Baekdoo real estate scam in season 2, just like Ma Juseok

The Yung spirits that the counters work with are all different races and ethnicities. Wigen is supposed to be German, and speaks German in Yung and So Mun can understand her. All spirits can talk to each other no matter the language they speak. Wigen speaks German, but So Mun hears it as Korean.

They made So Mun such an arrogant prick in this show. So Mun in the comic is actually pretty humble, and he usually only fights when he has to. Comic So Mun actually apologizes to hosts when he hits them too hard, or he accidentally gets thugs to shoot each other.

So Mun’s friends have bigger roles in the comic, and they actually find out that So Mun is a counter and Ms. Choo doesn’t erase their memories.

The comic is also much more violent and the injures are brutal. So Mun even gets his hand chopped off by Ji Chungshin, and So Mun throws a knife into his Chungshin’s eye. People lose limbs, break their arms and legs backwards, get their eyes gouged out, etc. The violence in the show is so tame.

So Mun’s CD player in season 1 has a payoff in the comic. In the show, it’s just something for the bullies to steal from him.

Jeokbong in the comic was actually useful and immediately agreed to be a counter, show Jeokbong is so annoying and useless. In the comic, Jeokbong was just as fast and strong as So Mun. But the show made him the weakest one.

The comic has such good build up and is suspenseful throughout. So many twists and stuff that I didn’t see coming. The show is so predictable and boring. I can’t wait for Season 3 of the comic to finish so I can read it.

Bagus banget banget !!!!

A little different then what we expected but definitely not dissapointing

Honestly what threw me off was the sudden increase in maturity of the drama. Season 1 watchers loved the whole high school concept of victim standing up to bully with newly gained powers then having a whole secret life of fighting evil spirits while getting revenge for his parents.
Season 2 kinda felt like they tried to keep that high school innocence in him while showing these grown way more mature evil villains so i felt it didnt mix well. plus with the new member added i felt they didnt properly explore him as much. like i get he aint the main character but like we didnt get to truly bond with him and the way they tried to make him the dumb comedy relief felt forced.

Overall tho i really enjoyed it. The acting was amazing the characters still felt like them selves and the villains were honestly so good and fighting against them was so challenging for the counters and i prefer those more then simple minded vilains

an all time favorite

i will literally never forget this series and if they make a third season, (which i kinda doubt) best believe im tuning in. i don't really have much to say because my opinion is almost like everyone else's, but i don't think this season is as rewatchable as the first one. dont get me wrong, it's a great season and i cried a lot, but i feel like i won't feel the need to rewatch it for any reasons. this season will stick to me. i would rather just rewatch the first one and maybe rewatch the second one. or just watch specific episodes. im sad that some of the fighting scenes were so long and i wish we got to see more of mo tak's background because out of everyone, his was shown the least but the show didn't seem rushed at all and the whole crew did a great job on it.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 is just fine not good as Season 1

The start of the season was good but after that I feel bored sometimes.Season 1 was so good and it was my first k drama and I loved it.I don't know they follow the webtoon good or bad.Because I have checked few chapters they all are practicing to fight hwang pil.In this season they are just eating noodles etc.Ga Mo-tack is so weak in this season. He is not fighting good don't know why.All of the time he was looking confused. He can't save his partner from hwang pil and run away was so bad i laughed. He was strong in first season. The new smell counter irritates me when he smells evil spirit he just ewww this is so bad.He didn't develop a skill in whole season like controlling his power of smell and fight evil spirits .Villians are good Ma ju seok and hwang pil.Whole season they are just dependent on so mun.In their new base they are just eating you can check the episodes just eating eating eating very less practicing.Ha-na was good she fights very good in this season.Last episode action was good the scene where so mun enters ma ju seok body the scene is excellent. But I feel this season is just okkish fine. But It was my first k-drama that's why I want season 3.please make it good like season 1.So mun was badass in this season.

Their growth from season 1 was really showed during season 2

From season 1 where they battled their most powerful enemy, a level 3 if I'm not mistaken, they showed some growth. They adopted psychokinesis to their fighting style and it improved it. Season 2 showed very powerful enemies and the plot really navigated the story really well. From revenge to salvation, it shows that people despite succumbing to a blinding path of revenge have some humanity remaining deep within their soul and that helped the ML in overcoming their dangerous situation. The new member elevates their overall capabilities since he can detect evil spirits despite not having the territory.

A total waste of a masterpiece

Season 1 got me hooked up on these counter things. S1 was made very well and garnered a lot potential. It’s just a shame that S2 failed to meet pur expectations. Otherwise, these could have been a a great series like even the characters will get to changed,it will still be liked since it’s all about being a counter and fighting evil spirits. S2 made those evil spirits almost as powerful as the counters in S1 even more since Mr.Ma can even read/see then from the territory. These could have been fine if they made the counters a lot more powerful (gaining additional unique individual powers) and smart too (with their past experiences fighting the #1 evil spirit in S1- Sin and a more years of training). But to our dismay, they made them appears as "can’t win a fight unless with Mun" . They made Mo-tak (power:super strength in s1) seem to be an ordinary counter in s2. They could have just retained his super strength as powerful as Mun, the only difference is Mun has a lot more additional powers like psychokinesis, agility, etc. OR if they want to show that Mun is the most powerful counter, instead of weakening the other counters, they could have made the counters a lot more powerful on their powers + additional unique powers then made Mun possess all their powers too. Then the character of the newbie counter was a total flopped. He was made like a sniffing dog. How wonderful it is if Jeong's power is a quick sense of smell(he can tell if it’s level 1,2 3 4) + he can travel in a lightning speed (or the power to communicate with animals)? Then Mun can summon the territory keeps moving towards the smell ,then Hana can see what's in there (better if Hana can now also see the past by sensing a certain place).

I was actually excited to watch the S2 but im sorry but i had to skip from ep.7 to the final episode. But just in case they'll make a S3 either with the same characters or new set of counters, they I'll still definitely give it a try to watch. Fighting evil spirits is unending, so this Uncanny Counter has a very high potential for a great number of series.

Disappointing sequel

If you are like me and you went in to this season right after finishing the first season than you most likely also feel like you picked up a completely different show. This season does not feel like the previous season; especially if you are going in to right after watching the first and it is fresh in your mind. If you are picking this up after having seen the first season when it first came out then you might find it more enjoyable.

If you are coming into this season hoping to feel the magic of the first then you'll be disappointed like I was. The first season did an excellent job of setting up the plot and characters that you kept you bound to the screen. The characters all had depth and their own stories that made them all endearing to you as a viewer. The main plot was well thought out and executed with the subplots contributing well to the overall picture. While So Mun is the main character and you do find yourself attached to him and his story the writing for the other characters was also done very well all the way down to the side characters that had little screen time. I rate dramas based on my enjoyment and season 1 kept me captivated from the first episode and I never wanted to fast forward through any part of the show which is very common for me to do in kdramas.

This second season however ignores many of the rules that were established in the first season while also abandoning the original character profiles for the main cast. The characters are supposed to be 2 years older in this season and obviously SO Mun has grown both mentally and his powers have also grown quite a bit. The writers firstly did not do a good job of explaining the power growth as it does not feel very reminiscent of the first season. While psychokinesis was touched on last season, this season it is now in every move all the characters make, even the villains, making the production feel more cartoonish and over the top. This season is also more about the villains from the very first episode to every episode after that. The villains are also made to be the evil version of the counters and while villains are not meant to be likeable these are downright obnoxious to watch. They get so much screen time but no backstory or explanation for how or why they are doing the things they are. Even Mr. Ma became more powerful so quickly that it did not make sense based on the rules you previously understood in season 1. While the first season made you feel like these people could actually exist, this season has turned them into super heroes instead. The humbleness that you felt in all the characters before is no longer present. The addition of the comedic relief new counter just leaves you frustrated any time he is on the screen instead of finding him funny.

I wouldn't recommend you watch and just let the end of season 1 be the end for you.

Dropped it after watching second episode

this is not related to 1st season
the main character is different Mun from dickless dimension
Mun moved on from his crush on HANA because his dick got chopped off while jerking off

and he become a cheap copy of Superman without dick.
he is so powerful that he moved on without any reason.
HANA is now like his sister, who stare at there sisters butt in season one, of that Mun isn't this mOOn

Most of Korean drama confuse sister and girlfriend because OPPA is used for both husband and brother
DO the don't know the difference between brother and boyfriend or they don't have a word for brother because to them both are same

Not on Par with the Prequel

Keeping up with its popular first edition, “The Uncanny Counter Season 2” truly packs a punch with upgraded versions of both the protagonists and antagonists. With evil spirits pooping right and left, our favorite gang of Counters have been training their psychokinesis skills, under the able leadership of So Moon. The show has been in making for almost three years and is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases in 2023. With a casting that is comparatively bigger than the prequel, “The Uncanny Counter Season 2” delivers on its promise of some exciting demon hunting coupled with the effervescent familial love that is so typical of this show. Doing a short rehash of the prequel, The Uncanny Counter (adapted from the webtoon “Amazing Rumor” (경이로운 소문) by Jang Yi (장이) describes the story of evil spirit hunting heroes who are known as Counters. Each of them have different abilities and they are paired with their afterlife counterparts who exist in Yung (the boundary between the afterlife and the world of the living). The first season was well received and as such, the anticipation for the sequel has been building since then.

You just need a different oerspective to understand the writer and the cast or the plot.

So it was a great watch to me.Unlike other reviews ,my review is little different and you might find it off the track. So So Mun in the first season was fighting his own battles and that is what held the story more and as there were more dangerous humans than evil spirits,it was always So Mun and the counters having the plus point and that is why season 2 was important. As there is no plot regarding the college life of So Mun,the story will be considered draggy due to thewhole focus tied on evil spirits. And as there are more evil humans possessed by evil spirits ,that is what make them stronger and put counters at the negative point.Therecan be no comparison of te both season,as the whole situation and whole plot is way different in both the seasons, the fight in the first one is physically intriguing but the fight in the second one is mentally remarkable and commendable. And as it contains the darker element, the mental or the fight within oneself is the more justifiable upcoming plot after season 1.It was a great watch and understandable efforts made it more powerful.
