Mi Chico Es Cupido (2023)

A cute cliche love story between a cupid and a human.

The story is just another fluffy romance and won't bring anything new that hasn't been seen before and will end the same way too. There is a past life trope and some serial killer stuff added to make it somewhat interesting. The cast be it the leads or side characters have done well.

Jang Dong Yoon as a handsome cupid was a very good choice as he has the looks and charms to portray one. ML's nature is quite the opposite of FL and their combo is fun to watch.

I would say the most annoying character in the show has to be the SML. Dude is a cop who is given the task to catch a serial killer but spends most of the time trying to separate the leads. He is extremely nosy, delusional and irritating. Be it breaking into ML's house to get info about his past or asking FL to stay away from ML, he has done everything that makes you hate him and question how could this dude be a cop. He gets on your nerves even more than the serial killer.

The chemistry between the leads is good. It isn't too strong or sensual but more like calm and sweet. I was skeptical when Nana was casted as just before this show I saw "The Masked Girl" and Nana was on fire in that one as her role of one scarred, crazy and fiery woman. So going from that to her role, I wasn't sure if she will be able to pull off one sweet simple girl role in this show but she sure did justice to her character. He character is cringey and idiotic sometimes but that is countered and overpowered by her straight forwardness and stay true to heart nature. Since the first ep, she goes openly for ML and isn't even slightly wavered by anyone else which I really enjoyed.

It is a good show, more like a one time watch which sometimes get draggy but still enjoyable.

Fight against destiny

“God creates big frame of fate. it’s human who acts accordingly. it’s also human who goes against it. it only takes one thing to change the game. Courage! ” - Courage (ep 16; 1:03:20).

This quote pretty much summed up the whole story with a little twist. ML is a Cupid while FML is a human but somehow their fate gets connected due to prayers and courage (also a deity) in the past. ML is weaken from Cupid to human with some of his power remaining while FML passes away and is reborn in modern days. Then we see them going against their fate to be together. For more details, I highly recommend watching the shows to figure it out.

There are also side stories with others Cupid and killer running rouge which I felt like serve their purposes but stretched out the shows for a bit longer than necessary (plus a little repeated flashbacks). As usually, cops are more interested in people personal lives than catching criminals. Overall, this shows has great writing and amazing ending with good storyline, romance, comedy and little bit of thrills. Last scene was really amazing.

Emotional ride infused with humor and unnecessary crime mystery

A tale entwined with themes of love, sacrifice, fate, miracles, courage, and opportunities with a fantasy element.
Initially I relegated it to the bottom of my watchlist presuming it to be another run-of-the-mill fantasy kdrama but that changed quickly when I learnt Nana was the FL (love her <3)
The main plot, marked by a strong love triangle and multiple reincarnations resonates emotionally, while a drawn-out and less mysterious crime subplot and lousy cops add some flaws. VFX initially subpar improved overtime. Personally didn't like the second lead couple's story as it felt like filler but their realistic end balances it out. Despite potential drawbacks, the series was immensely enjoyable for me. It brought out genuine laughter and left a lasting impact. It's been a while since a kdrama filled me with such a satisfying void.

WHAT THE HECK IS THE PLOT

I started this drama because of jang dong yoon and no other reason. I really love him as an actor and he really did a great job in every drama he acted on. Unfortunately, this drama is not gonna make it up. The plot is miserable af. I don't even know what the writer was doing with the reincarnation plot. It was okay when baek-ryeon is linked to the reincarnation of court lady but what with the highschool girl? Is she the reincarnation of baek-ryeon or the highschool girl actually was baek-ryeon? It didn't even add up because we see that they found the body of the highschool girl in the mountain. So, I don't understand why baek-ryeon have the memory of the highschool girl.
And don't get me started with the cupid curse. Like I don't understand why they only blame the curse on sang-hyuk which was at the first place is due to god of courage (the kid). He was the one who did all the things so that sang-hyuk fall in love with the court lady and only blame it on him? smh. I will leave the past as it is but why when the other cupid fall in love with baek-ryeon's friend, they suddenly okay with it? Like there is no curse happening towards him. Ridiculous but i will still watch this drama since only 3 episodes left.
The murder plot is okay but not important. Maybe important at earlier episode in building up the connection with female lead and male lead. But that's all. Nothing interesting at the moment. I just wished they conclude this drama on 12 episodes cos they taking a lot of time in building the storyline that it feels like some kind of the plot is unecessary for the story.
The acting of the casts all good. I have watched the main leads' show so I know they will do well. Nothing extraordinary in particular. I love every single of them and the cupids are handsome, pleasing to eyes except one cupid. No offense though hehe.
The OST is quite good. They know how to place it well. But overall I will never watch this drama again.

ok for a one time watch ONLY

I thought this was just ok and was fine for a one time watch and no more than that.
But I made sure to watch this to the end to give it views on Prime Video in the
hopes that it helps them see that we need more foreign dramas produced by them.
Now
The female lead was annoying a good bit of the time and did unbelievably stupid
crap to many times to count. The second male lead was annoying and made you
want to push him off that mountain they kept climbing. What I liked most was
the supporting characters. I was more interested in Chun Dong Chil, Chun Dong Koo
and Chun Dong Pal and even the female lead's best friend An Do Ra.
I would've been fine if the leads were the side story and the supporting characters were the main story.

very good plot

Imagine 4 gods (cupids) on earth, who have been reincarnated several times, and who of course find people from the past.
One of them has been in love with the same woman for 500 years.
Murders follow, with a taste of déjà vu, and our heroes are of course involved.

I enjoyed
-the well-constructed plot
-the ML and SML
-The other gods
-All the policemen
-the happy ending

I didn't like
-the female lead! actresses should read the script before accepting these roles where they're annoying or childish all the time
-The second couple

Più che un fantasy romantico è un noir!

Il titolo è un po' forviante, fa pensare che è una commedia romantica fantasy invece ha dei risvolti noir con tanto di serial killer.
La storia fantasy c'è perché lui è Cupido rilegato a vivere in mezzo ai umani per 500anni aspettando l'ultima metamorfosi per tornare al suo posto ma qualcosa va "storto" e così incontra lei una bella veterinaria che però si rivelerà l'amore della sua vita proprio per lui che di legami non ne può avere soprattutto con gli umani. Comunque la loro storia tra alti e bassi, ricordi e tragedie avrà il giusto finale.
Anche la storia del killer è ben raccontata e fino alla fine non ti aspetti l'assassino.
Bella chimica tra i protagonisti, bei baci, un po' di comico e qualche tragedia ma nel complesso un bel dramma da vedere!

Great Concept, But Lacking in Story and Chemistry

The show had a really interesting concept that initially caught my attention. The idea behind the show is unique and it promised a fresh take on the usual romantic comedy genre. It's always exciting to see shows trying something new and different, and this show definitely had that going for it. The overall storyline had potential, and there were moments in the show that were truly enjoyable and fun to watch.

However, as I continued watching, I felt that the story was a bit lacking in depth and development. It didn't seem to fully explore the potential of its unique concept. Additionally, I noticed that the chemistry between the lead characters wasn't as strong as I had hoped. This lack of chemistry made it harder to get invested in their relationship and believe in their connection. There were also parts of the story that didn't quite make sense or were not well explained, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, while the show had a great concept, it fell short in terms of storytelling and character development.

Jang Dong Yoon

i hope this drama had a lot of ratings in the next year. Really like the chemistry of Nana and Jang Dong Yoon. Most the important of drama is the character of the story and ofc the story. Sometimes we can learn a lot of thing from drama lol

drama carino... ma...

La storia ha una bella trama, ci sono tutti i presupposti per un drama di successo (trama avvincente, plot twist. triangolo amoroso, personaggi pucciosi e personaggi odiosi).
L'idea è anche innovativa: non credo, e chiedo scusa qualora sbagliassi, che ci sia mai stato un drama su CUPIDO.
Vorrei dire che è tutto splendido, ma in realtà delle pecche ce la ha:
1. La protagonista femminile è vuota, priva di personalità, o forse ha delle personalità un "po' troppo confuse". L'eccesso non sempre è un bene.
2. La figura della protagonista è a tratti inutile.
3. La protagonista ha uno sviluppo del personaggio pessimo: inizia con la scampagnata e poi...? potevano farla camminare un altro po' a questo punto, era meglio.
4. TROPPI personaggi per nulla e per niente approfonditi. A partire dagli amici cupidi di cupido, all'assassino.
5. Una serie di eventi di cui si può fare felicemente a meno sono stati sparsi lungo la serie.
6. Il second lead è qualcuno che mai ci saremmo sognate e va bene, apprezzo la scelta dell'attore, ma dategli almeno una scena degna dell'intelletto umano. Mi dispiace per la second lead che praticamente si è vista pochissimo e che meritava un degno spazio nella serie.
7. La protagonista non è in grado di difendersi. Per sviluppare questo triangolo amoroso sembrerebbe che abbiano deciso che la protagonista aveva sempre bisogno di due possenti uomini a proteggerla.
8. In un certo senso, non ho apprezzato il fatto che la protagonista dimostrasse un attaccamento quasi morboso al protagonista, con scenate di gelosia che potevano essere risparmiate.
9. La parte thriller non è preponderante e va bene tenendo presente il genere, ma appare un po' raffazzonata.


La storia è interessante però.

O amor e a fé valem muito a pena.

Até onde você iria por amor à alguém? Até onde você iria para proteger alguém que ama? A sua fé é forte e inabalável? A da Oh Baek Ryeon é sim. Em "My Man is Cupid" eu recebi conselhos para a vida que não estava esperando, na verdade, esse drama foi uma grata surpresa, eu não estava com muitas expectativas devido a falta de divulgação e por não ver muitas pessoas acompanhando, o que é uma pena, pois esse drama merecia mais. Maratonei os primeiros episódios e me vi ansiosa pelos próximos, toda sexta e sábado eu tive motivo para ficar animada, foi um prazer assistir essa bonita história de amor que sobreviveu e durou por décadas por causa da coragem da nossa linda protagonista. Ela não desistiu em nenhum momento, assim que soube e entendeu o seu coração, lutou com todas as forças para manter esse sentimento vivo, e o nosso cupido que até tentou relutar e reprimir seu desejo de amá-la, não resistiu ao forte sentimento que carregava dentro de si por tanto tempo.
Assim como a maioria dos dramas que assisti, esse tem seus pontos positivos e negativos. Um dos negativos é que demoraram para solucionar os casos de assassinato, a polícia foi um pouco lenta para realmente entender o que estava acontecendo e agir da forma correta. Adiaram demais essa questão e acho que não precisava. Outro ponto negativo é que as vezes eu achava um pouco confuso as informações das vidas passadas dos protagonistas, sentia que precisava me esforçar um pouquinho para entender algumas coisas, mas ainda bem que tudo ficou esclarecido no final. Os efeitos foram razoáveis, não diria que foram bons e nem ruins, apenas ok. Já os positivos, pra mim, foram mais do que os negativos e camuflaram um pouco as coisas que não deram tão certo, um deles é o elenco-atuação, eu gostei muuuito dos atores, especialmente dos protagonistas. Os personagens secundários também foram bem construídos, gostei da melhor amiga da Baek Ryeon, dos amigos do Sang Hyuk, do administrador da "casa do amor", dos pais da querida Jeong Ah, e até mesmo do policial que teve um final digno. A ost é um amorzinho, adorei. Portanto, de forma geral, eu gostei muito desse drama, recomendo principalmente para quem gosta dos gêneros romance e fantasia (você ri e se diverte também, há cenas engraçadas por causa de um dos cupidos que traz leveza e carisma para a história). Então, se você, amiga dorameira, quer um romance bonito e fantasioso para assistir, dê uma chance para este, eu realmente acho difícil você não gostar.
