It's okay?

It felt kinda rushed especially for the final episode that's why I gave this a rate 7.5 but it's actually supposed to be 4/10 but then I enjoyed watching it so... Is it just me that they toned down it from BL to bromance? Anyway I ain't complaining because I did enjoyed it and yes, they did some skinship and I can really feel their chemistry that's why it's not that hard to watch like something no cringey feelings.

Story: As I said It felt kinda rushed but I think they tried. 6.5/10

Acting: Still the same from the S1 but better chemistry this time for the two lead. 8/10

Music: I didn't hear that much but I don't know I rate this 8/10

Rewatch value: I think I probably gonna watch it or not hmm maybe? 7/10

It is still a great to watch to if you want some Light and sweet bl to watch.

Definitely something

I really did expect more from season 2, but sadly it didn't meet my expectations. I was so excited for season 2, I really thought that it'd focus more on Yeonwoo finding his mother as well as Yoohan and on him independently since Hyunjun said he wouldn't be in this season. I was disappointed when they revealed the new lead purely because I loved Yeonwoo and Yoohan's romance, but I was also intrigued since I enjoyed VIXX and I recognized Hyuk. I was curious how they'd incorporate him into the plot.

First, my rating for the story. The story wasn't as good as it was in season 1. It felt a bit rushed. It was like they were throwing things at you for the sake of it. I don't particularly enjoy love triangles so I was glad their love was one-sided honestly. I definitely get that a series being plot-heavy can make it less boring, but it was really just a bit boring and a bit harder to keep up with this time around. The action scenes weren't good at all, and I had a good laugh when I saw them in the hospital because how does Sehyun have casts on like... every part of his body like he broke everything but he only got hit like once.. that just didn't make sense.
I love the plot of the series, it's so unique and I haven't seen a BL mystery series with this type of plot before but the execution this season compared to the first is lacking. I can't say I disliked the chemistry between Yeonwoo and Sehyun though, they were definitely cute together and they both acted very well. Sehyun was definitely adorable, he was like a puppy.

Secondly, the acting/cast. The only thing I didn't like was Hyunjun not being there and the less screentime that Seohoo and Hyogi got. Like I mentioned before, the chemistry between Yeonwoo and Sehyun was cute, I didn't particularly think they were for me couple-wise, but I think they'd be really good as best friends since Yeonwoo is already in a relationship with Yoohan. Yoojun and Hyuk's acting was very good though, I didn't expect anything less and they definitely delivered.

Thirdly, the music. I liked the music from this season. I don't think I have much to say about it other than that lol.

Finally, the rewatch value. Personally, I don't think I'd watch this again. I've rewatched the first season more than thrice, but like I said this season just wasn't really my cup of tea. It was definitely better for others, judging by the reviews, so I'm glad some found good rewatch value in this. We all have different opinions, that's the beauty of it!

Overall, I think a solid 7 stars describes how I feel about this season. It wasn't bad, but I don't think I'll be rewatching it anytime soon unless it'd be to catch up again if they create a third season (hoping they do).

comically horrible

Uhhhhhh... I don't know how to begin?

I had expectations and they were not met. At all. Not even in the slightest way. I'm honestly still trying to make sense of each episode. NOTHING MADE SENSE. NOTHING WAS EXPLAINED. I'm so disappointed, I'm laughing. I genuinely just wasted 4 hours.

Okay, so I knew Hur Hyunjun wouldn't be in S2. I knew that! But I still had HOPE. I had hope that the writers would do something good with this. They did well with S1 so I really HOPED.

My hopes were destroyed, obliterated, and ransacked right before my eyes. I think at one point near the end, the writers remembered that this was a BL and made some... interesting decisions. I don't want to spoil this horrible sequel so that's all I'm going to say. Although I don't know why anyone reading this review would still decide to watch S2 afterwards.

If you're considering watching this after LOVING S1 like I did, just don't. You'll just feel annoyed and pissed off like I am now. I LITERALLY PROCRASTINATED AN ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS. *cries*

I was a little let down!

When i saw Color Rush season 1, i loved it i really thought that it was a great story line how yeon woo and yoo han meet. I loved their chemistry and the way season 1 ended.

But when watching season 2 i thought it would be about finding out about yeon woo's mother (which it was) but i didn't really like the fact that yoo han has gone missing. As much as the acting was great i didn't like sehyun's character because it was like yeon woo was moving on from yoo han who is his probe.
I preferred the yeon woo and yoo han couple!!

But i can't deny that the acting for both series was incredible!!!

Just a feedback

Korean BL series should learn to stretch their episodes to give more color on the characters. So far, I have never been disappointed to all of the KBL'S I've watched except that it is too short. Just like my review of season 1. Hope season 3 will be like a 13 episide series. Audience's curiousity regarding other characters should be addressed too.. Just like Light On Me... They took their time and I'm highly satisfied. Better have season 3 or else!!!! ??????... Hyuk is so Pogi... ?

To say that this sequel disappointed me is an understatement...

Honestly, I expected this to atleast be at the level of the first sequel if not more...
For some reason, the genre had a total shift from somber romantic drama to comedy action...
The lack of appropriate sound effects and sound engineering was taxing... even if it was in the POV of our mono main lead... (=~=) I mean, they are color blind, not deaf... (¬_¬")

STORY 7.5
I appreciate the fact that they "tried" to continue the story without Yoo Han. But I didn't like how it strayed away from the original plot and genre. This feels more like a filler or OVA, not an actual season sequel.

ACTING/CAST 9.0
Ngl, I love how Yeon Woo just be collecting idols here and there... having Vixx's Hyuk playing a BL role and actually making the kiss (which I felt disappointed at first, because I thought they were only going to kiss a la camera trick, until Hyuk leaned it for the second kiss that was finally caught by the camera, god! this sequel had an aweful camera work!)
But I hate how some supporting actor/actresses didn't get proper exposure... even though their characters shoupd have had pivotal scenes, there was no focus on them nor proper representation on-screen (i. e. Yeonwoo's friends and the mono little sister)

MUSIC 8.0
I love the ost... but good lord! did the production team not have a sound engineer during editing? The entire thing felt so amateur because there was no BGM nor SFX to support the progression of the scenes and the emotional mood of the characters...

REWATCH VALUE 6.0
Probably not gonna rewatch, definitely not...
The production was amatuer... and those god-aweful camera work. I feel like the production team didn't invest enough for the show...

Color Rush? More like Plot Rushed

I know that many people were confused or even angry about Hwall not returning for the second season but to be honest, I didn't even particularly care about that. It was his decision and surely the producers knew what they were getting into too when they decided to make a second season despite this. While I didn't think that the first season was outstanding or anything, I still appreciated the overarching theme and concept and high production value in terms of the filming and editing enough to want to watch the second season. Needless to say, I was beyond disappointed.

The second season suffers from much the same writing and acting problems as the first season, only that they are even worse. I saw a lot of people praise Hyuk's acting and portrayal of Se Hyun but to be honest, I thought it was just as bad if not worse than Hwall's acting in season one. In the first 6 or so episodes, his expressions are minimal, and even when I noticed a minimal improvement in the last two episodes, it was still not enough for me to want to praise it. Even Yoo Jun's acting, which was one of the few redeeming qualities of the first season, was reduced to him having to play a depressed, emotionless Yeon Woo. At times, I thought it was almost laughable how Yeon Woo consistently delivered his lines in a serious and earnest tone, even when it didn't even really fit the situation. It was like I was watching a satire of a mystery romance drama instead of something that was meant to be taken seriously.

As for the plot, nothing makes sense. I could understand why the first season mainly focused on the romance aspect and not the mystery, as the characters needed to be introduced and the concept of Probes and Monos needed to be explained to the viewer first before further delving into the world. However, to me, it is simply bad writing when almost all the things that were previously established in season one are either completely ignored or actively contradicted in season two. Due to that, it feels like the writers are just speedrunning from one new plot point and one new fact about the world to the next without any room for the viewer to take a breather and process the information in between. Sometimes characters know things they couldn't possibly know or suddenly have abilities that they never had before, such as Yeon Woo and his friends Joo Haeng and Min Jae suddenly developing advanced hacking and programming skills.

And while I thought the idea of a crime syndicate using Monos' desperation to sell them illegal drugs and surgeries to induce an artificial Color Rush was interesting, it was executed poorly. First of all, the motivations of the leaders of the syndicate seem extremely unclear and wishy-washy. If they were really only interested in finding a way to make Monos see color to capitalize off of it, then why not just invest in the further development of their drug Lazulata? It is clearly shown to be working and even Yeon Woo himself states that there's no way that a Color Rush could be faked like that. Why invest in some sketchy surgery, which is even said to put them at a loss, and take the lives of innocent people for no reason? Clearly, the leaders also don't enjoy having to get rid of the bodies, so why not just try to make the drug work for longer periods of time? It simply doesn't make much sense.

Even the way they wrote Yoo Han out of the story was bad. He got kidnapped by what now? Clowns in an amusement park? Really? Instead of introducing another mystery which they will probably never be able to resolve considering that a third season hasn't been announced yet and they have no way of knowing whether Hwall will be able to reprise his role should another season happen, this seems like such an ill-advised choice. There were so many ways how they could've written him out, just to name a few:

1. They could have said that Yoo Han's parents forcibly sent him away so he wouldn't be with Yeon Woo anymore. This would've made much more sense as it had already been established that Yoo Han is the son of an influential family and needs to be protected at all costs. Since Monos are said to be violent and often murder their Probes, it would have made sense for the parents to keep the two apart.

2. Yoo Han found out about the dealings of the crime syndicate introduced in this season before Yeon Woo as he wanted to surprise him by finding his mother for him. The organization found out about this and got scared because Yoo Han's family could ruin their plans. So they murdered him alongside their other victims to keep him from telling on them. In the end, Yeon Woo buries Yoo Han alongside his mother.

Even the production value has decreased since the first season: especially in the first few episodes, the show lingers on shots way too long, to the point where I sometimes thought my screen got frozen just to realize it wasn't. Furthermore, while the writing in the first season was already bad from a plot angle, it at least had a very distinct, almost poetic tone to it that made the show more immersive and added to its fantasy flair. This writing style was completely abandoned in the second season and instead, the writing just feels choppy, rushed, and comical.

I wouldn't recommend this drama to anyone because it honestly just felt like a waste of time and has little connection to the first season; it almost even feels like the two are completely different dramas at times and I really can't stand it.

avoid this season and just rewatch the first

This is the lowest rating I have given a drama on MDL before. This second season felt like a student film completely written, casted, and shot by students without much experience or a clear grasp on the story they wanted to portray. It is a bit disappointing that this is connected to the first season.

In the first season we are introduced to the idea of Mono's who live in a world of grey until they manage to meet someone who's face will allow them to see color, their probe. Geon Yoo never wanted to meet his probe out of fear that he may hurt that person due to obsession so when he meets Yoo Han he tries to run away. Yoo Han however does not want him to run away. Their adorable romance that stems from their connection is simple but sweet to watch. Yoo Han helps Geon Woo overcome his fear by being a stable and unmovable presence in his life. Between this unique plot, the pleasant soundtrack, and the chemistry between the pair I enjoyed the first season far more than I expected to.

The first season introduced the side plot that Geon Yoo's mother had been missing and his Aunt was searching for her while taking care of him. It also emphasizes the connection of a mono and probe, essentially soul mates, but how the colorizing of a mono's world can also feel so addictive that they become obsessed with their probe. This obsession can make the probe uncomfortable or lead to the mono doing unspeakable acts to the people around their probe or even to them. The idea that mono's are dangerous and are outcasts is mentioned often. This second season tries to expand on that notion while running with the mystery of his missing mother. It becomes a story filled with practically nothing but Monos. The previous season made it seem like Monos were there rare while this season is littered with them and they are obsessed with wanting to see color so much that they have a secret 'club' and drugs and surgery to allow them to do that.

Honestly the plot is a bit of a mess. It opens with Yoo Han having been kidnapped but for some reason it is not publicized which makes no sense given the kind of family he has that was so worried about him being kidnapped in season one. It was a convenient excuse to have the character missing as the actor may not have wanted to return. So the shows premise becomes Geon Yoo searching fervently for Yoo Han and his mother and in his search he comes across a new friend whose sister was a mono that was killed trying to get the surgery. The pair try to enter the dangerous world of this secret Mono cult to find the truth behind the missing monos and the death of his friend's sister.

Acting was amateurish in this entire cast. From no real emotion shown for the death of a sister to the creepiness of the Mono cult. Editing is also very patchy with scenes and songs cutting off abruptly. Again this is primarily a student film continuation and I would not suggest you waste your time on it. The first season was a simple watch and I enjoyed it for the chemistry and interesting and unique plot but this continuation was just a mess.

DARK DEEP DIVE WAY FURTHER FROM S1

I was really not expecting this sequel to just switch things up in such a morbid way. While the s1 had us focusing mainly on the missing mother and the Yoo Han which are direct, this one is both confusing and intriguing because it covers every horizon it sees. I never expected some shady mono community where his mother joined in. I was not really expecting the disturbing surgery that turned out to be just an experiment by a con artist, hallucinogenic candies among others. I just had a lot on my hands, I can't really handle so much. The plot just threw me directly to what should I be witnessing, Yoo Han being kidnapped and his long endeavor of finding his long lost mother. I wasn't prepared for the edgy start of this season. The plot is somehow cohesive to s1 when it's about his journey of finding his mother. It's much more darker because there were really blood revealing his mother's death. The new things being introduced in the eps are too fast for me to pick up. It was like, hold up I can't remember faces that well.

What I love about this series is the shady lore or darker spin of the plot making it not about just two characters loving each other leaving his mother for a moment. I was really glued about the things happening around here. I love Hyuk here, both adorable and uplifting even when the situations gets crappy. I love how he stood his ground portraying his character damn well not overpowering anyone in the series. He's easily likeable.
The OST is good.
Overall this is such a risk taker for a sequel and it worked. Though I don't like the bloody or disturbing scenes here, I commend how the sequel is done plus there is also a cliffhanger hinting s3. Even if it plans to have s3, I still watch it to know how it'll turn out. Most likely it'll be a love triangle since his mom died already. I cannot hate it, though this was not a prefect spin-off I still like it (better than s1 I guess).

Review

I’m sorry for this low rating it’s just my own opinion.
It was okay because I’m no so happy that the probe vanished and I don’t like how he just get a other man and like forget his really Soulmate and from time too time I didn’t really understand the situation but the story self was really good I like mystery and the thriller vibe that gives us . But the cast where okay I really like them their where really in his character and the songs was good too it’s really catching.

That’s why I give the howl Serie only a 6.5/10 it could be better

it was quite different

okay this was a cool drama with lots of mysteries thrill and a bit of romance...i usually don't write reviews..just give stars and leave..but I'll write for this drama cuz it's really entertaining atleast for me also i want to convey others who are thinking whether to watch season 2 or not.. please do watch it trust me it's worth it :) for me FIRST SEASON was more/standard romance and less mystery and SECOND SEASON more mystery and less/standard romance..IF U R LIKE ME WHO FOCUSES MORE ON THE STORY LINE AND LESS ON THE RELATIONSHIP THEN COLOR RUSH BOTH SEASONS ARE FOR YOU ELSE IT'S NOT... I'm still waiting for them to give us a season 3 (?) i guess to end up everything well with no holes <3<3

Some plot holes and unanswered questions, but what a fascinating narrative

If you liked the sinister, somewhat depressing undercurrent of season 1, the second season won’t disappoint.

Unlike season 1 – which focuses on Yeonwoo’s story – this sequel is an ambitious look into an entire network of individuals and organisations, going beyond the struggles of a single individual. It infiltrates a universe of drugs and organised crime where monos (people who can’t see colour) are cruelly exploited for their vulnerabilities. Pretty heavy stuff.

However, the story gets progressively sloppier as it frantically scrambles to wrap everything up in 8 episodes, so be prepared for some plot holes and unanswered questions. Many South Korean miniseries tend to cram way too much into short episodes, and the Color Rush sequel is no exception.

Season 2 introduces a new character in the form of Sehyun, Yeonwoo’s classmate, who also becomes his new love interest.

It’s unusual for sequels to introduce a completely new love interest, but guess what? I actually preferred the new guy.

Unfortunately, nothing really much happens between Sehyun and Yeonwoo, perhaps setting up the Color Rush franchise for yet another season. If season 1 was centred around romance, season 2 seriously placed romance on the backburner.
