The problem with BL: Storytelling!
If only we could have better editing and production in BL... So many times everything in a BL makes sense but the storyline. Plot holes, weird transitions, time jumps, sloppy characters, inconsistencies... It takes away so much, while it could have been sooo good. In this case, the chemistry between these rookie actors is off the charts. The plot is original, supernatural themed bl's are rare. The build up of the romance is stormy and messy but it makes sense. The problems are not with the main plot line in the beginning. It is the side stories that mess it up. There is an ex boyfriend that we know died, but we miss a full back story, as with the gl couple they seem to have thrown in there without telling us exactly where this came from. Since we BL lovers are romance and drama addicts, we need to know what exactly transpired to make them fall in love, how was their relationship and how did they die? The way these stories are brought is dangling a carrot, and then stuffing our nose with it. It comes down to bad choices in editing, wanting to put in too much while there's just not enough airtime assigned. It's a shame. Rating would have been at least 8 without these issues. Surprisingly good
This show starts out as silly ghost hijinks but it evolves into something actually sad and heartwrenching!The ending doesn't quite carry the energy through and there was some drama that honestly wasn't needed, but the few episodes before the last really made a strong impression on me.
The relationship between Kevin and Pluem was ok, some awkwardness which you rarely can avoid but they seemed to actually enjoy touching each other which was fun to see. The supporting cast was fine and I enjoyed seeing all their storylines, however brief they were. The number of episodes didn't really leave too much space for them but there also wasn't anything that wasted my time.
Overall a surprising gem of a show!

Too much romance, not enough ghosts!
I love me a good ghost story and this one had everything going on for it. So why did it turn out so bad?Kevin, born and raised in the US comes to visit his aunt and cousins in Thailand and do some ghost hunting while there. He falls for her aunts handyman. Lots of fluss ensues. And a little bit of angst. But then they reconcile...
It starts really well, with a minor mystery but it is unfortunately abandoned by the episode 4 and after that we only get the usual romance with the usual problems and misunderstandings.
The title is a bit cryptic but everything is explained by the end of the first episode: the aunt and her family have been ghosts for about a month before Kevin arrived but nobody seems to know that (how come!). The unfinished business kept them from passing on. They were the most interesting characters of the lot.
Kevin and Pleum, the handyman, got together fairly quickly for a drama: they were sleeping together from the ep.4. I have to give it to the actors, their chemistry was good and they were really at ease with each other. The skinship scenes were some of the best I have ever seen in a BL; filmed in soft light and well choreographed. After they got together the focus of the story shifted to the couple and the ghosts were left far in the background serving as means (the cousins wasting their merit points on them!) of making the lovers' relationship stronger.
As I was watching this, I kept wondering if there was anything more to this story. I was waiting for a big twist, something along the lines: one of the boys is a ghost but does not know it. But no, no such surprise so the story chugged along those well known romance lines including a break up and a time skip! I did not like how they dressed Kevin: through his costumes they showed him become softer as he was getting to be more and more in love: large flowy blouses, shorts, purses while Pleum was always dressed in black. Is it really necessary to shove it in our faces top/bottom distribution of roles, in case we did not understand. At least we do not hear wife/husband in Thai bls anymore, so I guess we should thank god for small mercies!!!
And lastly, I did appreciate the fact that this was a ghost story where the ghost was not the love interest. But I would have prefered this to be more mystery than fluff orientated ghost story!

At first I didn't have any solid expectations, because horror movies don't appeal to me, but this one surprised me. Im glad it did, i usually find the horror genre boring but this one had a comedic and fun touch to it. Hats off to the script writers of this series.
100% rewatch worthy once completed because its adorable and the entire story line sounds good as well. Cant wait to complete this.

Wonderful! A BL production that I really liked. The protagonists are extremely cute and the development was very interesting. I wish there were more episodes and more points within the series were explored. Because it was a shorter production, I understand that everything needed to be faster. As a lover of supernatural themes, I expected better development in this regard, but nothing that would take away from the watching experience. Can We Say This is one of Best Thai BL???
I am so glad that i went into it without any expectation and loved it, bit to bit.Even though it is a ghost story, but there is no "ghost secret", and it has solid positive and safe humor, warmth and above that great ACTING.
Usually you aspect over the top acting, loud music and typical elements of Thai elements, but this series toned down those elements and very calmly doing its job into this horror genre that actually managed to kept me hooked from first scene to last.
It has great production values, visual effects, background score, technical aspects, direction and above a writing that makes sense and solid understanding of what is happening. No confusion at all.
The series starts right into its game, introduces us to Adam's Family type family of four sweet gh*sts who is visited by their nephew Kevin, who is unknown to that fact that they are gh*st and start his journey to hunt ghost stories. Meanwhile, a family is helped by a handsome helper Pheulm, who is very low key flirting with Kevin and already having great chemistry. SO how this story will proceed and how this gonna end I am super excited.
But one things remains, that this is very few Thai Bl series, that is off to great start, and has so much potential. It is true, the things you least expect, exceeds your imagination the most.
So Ghost Host, Ghost Host, is one of a kind and I dare say at this point, but a gem already.
