Kiyoi's character development

Honestly, this is so much better than the previous season. We get to know more about Kiyoi and become more annoyed with Hira (lol). I can understand Kiyoi's POV with how Hira acts. It can be really annoying and frustrating to tell him all over again that Kiyoi is not a god that he should worship. Honestly, If I were Kiyoi, I might have dumped Hira if he continued to act like I was a certain god from above. There's nothing wrong with showing your love for someone, but sometimes, it is kind of frustrating to see that someone treats you as a perfect human being. People make mistakes. We all have imperfections. Overall, I really enjoyed this sequel. I haven't watched the movie yet but I am looking forward to their character development <3

Character growth is the main theme here

I love this so so much, took me time to watch the second season but every minute was so worth it once again. Hadn’t even realized how much i missed them before i started watchin.

I love their complex characters and dynamics as a couple. What was extremely nice to see was the character growth they’ve both accomplished this season.

I hope they get to have a third season as well, the drama has so much potential for many seasons. My eternal complaint would be how darn short this series is, i could watch them on hours end.

One of the Best

This rather short BL series is one of the best out there for the year 2023. It is a continuation of Season 1. And in reality, it reaches its own level of exceptionalism. It is an astonishing story of love unique to those two individuals . I like to describe it as a journey through toxicity down a road to enlightenment. It is unabashedly different and unique and may not be understood by all. It does not present love in the conventional sense of the word and that is what gives it its uniqueness.

THIS is what I call a good sequel!

The amount of joy I felt when watching this is indescribable.

When I watched the first season I felt sad, I was angry at Kiyoi the whole watch and finished it all sad because I felt so bad for Hira. This season turned it all around, showed us how Kiyoi is also insecure, how much he actually loves Hira and ahhhh i love them so much! On the other hand we finally get to see Hira reconsider the way he sees his boyfriend, as Kiyoi doesn't want him to spectate him as some sort of higher being or god. They talk about their issues, which is so important.
And to be honest, Kiyoi being all cute and bbgirl destroyed me.
Even if you didn't enjoy the first season, make sure to watch this one, it's amazing. <3

Trust The Process

Honestly, this gave a major 'trust the process' vibes. Season 1 didn't give us a lot and it felt like it ended abruptly. But this follow up season made things better. 'Better' because it still wasn't perfect.
You may like the drama if you know what you are getting yourself into. If you are expecting two normal people in love, rainbow & sunshine, then , this is not for you. The characters are messed up so it may not be everyone's cup of tea and that's understandable

STORY
I am not going give any major spoilers. It is a continuation of season 1 and we get to see more of Hira and Kiyoi's life. I loved the fact that it felt natural and ACTUAL continuation because they didn't give the characters whole new, forced personalities.

I especially adored Kiyoi this season. He was honest about his feelings and more expressive. I loved how he told Hira that he wants them to be equal and doesn't want to be treated as God. This is actually an important factor in their story

Hira, on other hand, hasn't changed much. He still thinks Kiyoi is a God and would leave Hira anytime he wants. All of this bring some conflics in the story. I honestly get where is he coming from (his character has been made like that) but I would love to see some progress in the movie because it can't go on like that. Viewers as well as the characters will never get closure if every seasons ends with a conflict because of their personalities and a quick make up in the end. Issues shouldn't be swept under the rug

I feel like both the seasons were too short. They have divided the stories into seasons and a movie (yet to be released) which is alright but I feel like ending feels rushed and leaves you wanting more and wondering about many things

I am excited to watch the movie sequel though, would love to see how everything goes for them and I hope the ending isn't rushed this time and we get a proper closure

ACTING
Both of them are amazing actors ! I actually finished watching season 1 because of their acting , they portrayed the characters so well. I would love them to see them in another project!

MUSIC
I am absolutely in love with the OSTs especially Follow and Bitter. I'd recommend reading the english subtitles of these songs, you will be surprised :) Follow is from Kiyoi's point of view (season 1 kiyoi actually) and Bitter is from Hira's POV.

The other OSTs Caramel (Hira's POV) and Kinmokusei (Kiyoi's POV ) are also great !

One of the best sequels, possibly...?

Most sequels usually have a main flaw. They either try to replicate the exact same elements as their prequel (and they end up becoming a worse version of the exact same story), or they let go of the elements in the prequel too much, to the point that both the setting and the characters are completely unrecognizable.
I believe that Utsukushii Kare/My Beautiful Man found the perfect middle ground: it didn't forget about its origins, but at the same time it's able to bring the story forward naturally. I know that this sounds like the bare minimum, but it's so unusual I couldn't help being amazed by it.
Kiyoi and Hira's story continues from where it was left and we're allowed to see them adjusting to their life together, among many doubts, attempts and even failures, all while they explore their individual ambitions and dreams. I loved the fact that while this is a sequel where the two are finally a couple, it doesn't mean that their relationship has magically become perfect, but at the same time the change between this show and its prequel is visible.
The acting was as great as before, if not even better, and both the music and the silence were used well. I also liked how the story alternated different sides of the life of the two protagonists.

A must-watch for anyone who loved the original "My Beautiful Man" series. I recommend watching that first if you haven't yet!

Hira will forever be Kiyoi's number 1 fan

Season 2 follows the life of Hira and Kiyoi as a couple when they start living together and the obstacles they face along the way.

My likes of the series:
- I really loved the first season of my beautiful man because I thought their relationship was so different from any other BL's I've watched. This was a great and realistic follow up of the first season and I really liked how more affectionate they are towards each other.
-Kiyoi was a lot less cold and distant towards Hira and really fought for their relationship which I found really cute
-Just seeing them doing everyday stuff was so funny and cute to watch!
- Thanks to Hira I now know how to say 'sorry' in Japanese (he says it a lot....like a lot lol)

My dislikes:
-I wish there was a little more affection from both of them but maybe they are saving this for the movie that's coming out soon!

Hira as a character:
- I find his character extremely interesting because he really does think that he is Kiyoi's fan and doesn't seem to grasp that he can be with someone like Kiyoi. It is honestly sad to see him feel as though he is unworthy of love :(
-He does show character development in this and I hope that this continues when they release the new movie!!

Finally They Are Equal!

Everything that I disliked about the first season was fixed in the second season. I hated how unequal they were and how they treated each other. They finally got onto an even playing field with the much needed communication! This season truly changed my perspective on the story and I want to read the source material now. I was hesitant to watch this season but I am so glad that I did! I actually enjoy both of the characters now despite their flaws. I am very excited for the movie to come out and to see where the story goes.

All bow before Great Kiyoi!!!

I loved the first season! It came out about the same time as Kieta Hatsuko and while I dropped KH after the first episode, I loved My Beautiful Man. It felt real. It was painful and emotional and full of life, real life.
So I was happy to see the sequel but was quickly reluctant to watch when I kept reading reviews and comments all saying same old same old.
This is the story of Hira and Kiyoi frome high school until university graduation. Hira is a shy, self conscious and servile boy/man completely devoted to adoration of his god, his schoolmate Kiyoi, a beautiful man and an actor.Kiyoi hides feeling of insecurity behind his beauty and popularity and accepts Hiras devotion gladly. But when Hira tells him that he will never have to meet his parents, Kiyoi is deeply hurt which starts to shake their weird relationship.

While the first season focused solely on Hira and his adoration of Kiyoi, in this one we get to see lore of Kiyoi's side while he explains that he is perfectly aware of the god/subject mechanics in their relationship but answering "Creepy!" every time Hira looks adoring at him or tries to be gentle. They are both aware the situation cannot continue for much longer, unhealthy as it is but it actually takes a comment by a famous photographer who reads him perfectly, for Hira to start changing very slowly and meeting Kiyoi as equal.
The story is beautifully filmed and told but I was also extremely annoyed with Hira and his doormat attitude. Still, Kiyoi loved him just as he is for four years but is now getting more and more upset with Hira and his adoration attitude. There are only four episodes in this season taking place about 4 years after high school and each covering one season (winter, spring etc.). The actors are perfect. I loved the music and the opening credits were cool with the main cast dancing with their arms: beautiful!
It is a good short watch that I probably should rewatch soon! Waiting for the movie!!!!

It's heartwarming to witness their collaborative efforts to resolve their problems. The show's portrayal of their relationship is refreshing as it acknowledges the impact of their past experiences, making it more authentic. Unlike typical romantic storylines, the characters don't undergo drastic changes after entering a relationship. Kiyoi remains pragmatic and Kira still struggles with self-assurance. This unique perspective on love and relationships will leave you with a cozy feeling.

Simple, Fun and Enjoyable

I just love how much I laughed in only 2 episodes already! That goofy humour build in this season is super enjoyable and hilarious, I especially love Hira's awkwardness! I caught myself laughing most of the time, but I also enjoyed the simple storyline of two people getting used to each others life's and personality! So far I can't wait for the next episodes, although I wish that Hira starts to learn how to love himself and not talk himself bad in front of Kiyoi like he is not worth being with him.

IM SURPRISED!! THE MUSIC IN EPISODE 3

I really like the fact that the first and second episode’s main problem is cleared in the same episode.
BUT DAMN! The 3rd episode just broke my heart!
It was really smart for the staff to show us the first 2 episode of hira and kiyoi being a better lover to each other. Episode 3 is an episode with mind blowing fact of Hira who made me scream in stress. The audience just witness him actually not changing from the last episode of season 1. It was a really nice (but irritating) surprised as human’s personality or thought cant actually change overnight in real life either.
What surprising is the music/ost choice in episode 3. The first 3 episode uses brand new sound opening and uses ending song with light tone.
Just like a salt in the wound, they just slap the fist season ost like it was just another episode in season 1. The fact that the audience get to see hira not moving from his box, and the drama slap us with the season 1 ost is just cruel.

Did i just write this for the surprising detail of the 3rd episode? YES I DID
