The rare case of misunderstanding done right

Normally when the main obstacle for the couple is miscommunication or misunderstanding, I spend the entire series internally screaming at them to just talk already.

But at least in this series, there was a reason for Namnuea to feel torn about Lom's flirting with him when Lom is supposed to be getting married; there was also a reason for Lom to keep the truth hidden as it meant protecting Yiwa's secret from her parents. As much as we, the viewers, want them to clear the air, there was reasons to keep their true feelings hidden and I felt like it really worked in this series.

It's interesting how, when there's a well written story for the MC, there isn't as much of a need for a secondary couple. I didn't miss the constant change of pace when looking at one couple then the other as they tend to have very different experiences. There were other couples in this series but they were already established and firmly in their relationships with pretty mild drama. I think it also helped that the series was only 7 episodes long as they didn't need to fill in time with unnecessary BSing.

I don't know how Me Mind does it but they tend to have great luck with relatively newcomer actors who are actually really good, considering. Their production quality is always really good too, whether it has a strong story/plot or not. It adds to the overall quality which makes for an enjoyable watch. I know a lot of people have issues with MAME stories but I personally find them entertaining and consistent with the acting and production.

I would definitely recommend this series. I hope more series take notes from this to show how you can still have misunderstandings but make them less annoying/frustrating to sit through.

Perfect storytelling!

Marriages of convenience are very common, and that's precisely what this type of marriage is. Two homosexual people who have been friends for at least a decade get married to each other to please their parents by providing a heteronormative family union that is socially acceptable and will allow both families to save face.

I am the product of such a union, so I may have more of a soft spot for this storyline than many.

For me, this story seems very well-written and pretty realistic. Bravo, Mame, the director, and all four leads!!!

While many may see Lom and Yiwa's legal union as a "fake" marriage, this type of marriage is very real. Marriage across most cultures (including Christianity) has been primarily and was originally a way of uniting families under the law, thus guaranteeing mutual benefits. It is/was a way of consolidating power, wealth, and property, building alliances, ensuring the continuation or perceived enhancement of bloodlines, improving or maintaining social status, and ensuring rights to national/local/international marriage-specific benefits. These reasons are also central to why family and society push many singles or dating couples toward marriage. This story tracks perfectly with this reality.

Marriages of convenience for people like Lom and Yiwa tend to start falling apart under scrutiny as more social norms are stacked onto the simple union, such as the expectations of moving into a situation (often the husband's familial home) where the union will be closely monitored, producing children, and shows of physical affection.

So far, I love the pacing of both the evolving love story and the revelation of the family dynamics at the heart of this story's conflict.

maybe spoiler-ish:

...
...
...
...
...
...

In Lom and Yiwa's case, I think their parents' expectations will push them to a breaking point where they will be forced to come out to their families, and an appropriate amount of heartache will ensue. My hope for this series is that our delightful Nuea ends up planning a double wedding so everyone gets their "happily ever after."

Lighthearted lovestory

I watched all (currently 3/7) episodes so far and I love it.
The story starts starts where Love in the Air ends: with a marriage from one of the LITA couples (I won't tell you which). The wedding planner is a lighthearted young guy doing his job with passion, but someone has his eye set on him, even though that someone is to be wed to a woman. And so the story unfolds ...
It is nice to see a story without backstabbing drama or accidental meetings being mistaken for cheating. I have to admit that the 2 main actors do a great job: falling in (forbidden) love. Forbidden because of the pending marriage thing, remember? Our wedding planner does his best to be all cool with that, but he's fighting a losing battle here.
It's a pleasing show to the eye, has comedy in it, longing, affection and in fact all actors do a great job!
Currently at episode 3 and the end if quite the cliffhanger ...
Recommendation to watch: 100%

A mess but it's entertaining

What to say, what to say. This drama is very difficult for me to review because while I know it’s not the best show objectively and has its fair share of issues, I had a really fun time watching it. So the reviewer in me wants to give this a solid 6 stars, the rest of me wants to give it a nine. So I decided to give it an 8.5. I think the thing about this show that makes it so enjoyable for me, rather than something I was watching purely to review it, was the chemistry between the actors. Sunny and Pak had excellent chemistry, they were able to make most of the horribly cringy dialogue bearable and I don’t think this drama could have worked without them.

This drama follows Namnuea, a wedding planner, as he falls in love with one of his clients. I know, it’s an alarming premise. But it is not what you think, well actually yes it is. The plot twist in this show is so predictable, everyone can see it coming. If you guessed both Lom(the groom) and Yiwa(the bride) are gay and that the marriage is fake to appeal to their parents, congrats. You would be correct. This is not an original concept, Mame really was just writing an excuse to get the LITA couples married and threw the main couple in to fill time. Which really makes me laugh seeing as the LITA couples got maybe 2 minutes of screen time each, in total. I could be wrong, it could be Mame wanted to try her hand at a cheating romance and added the LITA couples in to show Nuea working but I don’t think so. Before you watch this show, I do think it’s important to know that there is SA in this. Nuea sleeps with Lom while he is sober and Lom is very very drunk. It’s in episode 4, around the 53 or 54-minute mark. It is, as is typical for Mame it seems, not portrayed as SA but romantic. I hope I don’t need to tell you that drunk people cannot consent to sex, even if they make the first move and a sober person sleeping with them is assault. The scene is kind of important to the plot in the sense that it starts the episode 5/6 conflict but you don’t need to watch it if it will upset or trigger you. They do sleep together again if you want an NC scene. The dialogue is very cringe, I feel so bad for Pak cause it’s always Nuea who gets the terrible lines. As for the other characters, I really liked Yiwa and Marine. They are so adorable, a very desired wholesome and drama-free break from the emotional roller coaster that is Lom x Nuea. Nuea’s co-workers/ friends are so funny but I also really love that J’Im always had Nuea’s back. She was very protective of him and I loved that. The secondary side couple is cute, from what little we see of them.
But for all this show's flaws and issues, I really did have fun watching. I laughed, I giggled, and kicked my feet, all the stuff. Maybe I’ll edit this when the wedding episode or whatever the 8th episode on IQIYI will be comes out and give my feelings on that but for now, this is it.

*EDIT*
Hi there, I'm here after the wedding episode. Um, it was cute. It's always fascinating seeing wedding traditions from cultures that aren't my own and they're very cute together but like, there was no need to make it behind a pay wall. It's like seven dollars, so not terrible, but the episode should have been free. But it doesn't matter too much now anyway, I already bought it. Over all notes are J'Im rocks, she's the best and we're honestly being robbed of Sun and Ryu. They're cute and I wanted to know more. Also really wasn't vibing with how rushed the wedding was, Nuea only knew he'd be getting married the night before and Loms mom wasn't even invited. Not that you have to invite your parents to your wedding but I felt like there was no reason to exclude her except maybe for Yiwa and Marines comfort? Idk, it felt odd. Like Lom could get them from the UK for a wedding but not his mom from Bangcock to Chang Mai? Especially when the beginning of the episode started with Nuea wanting to be approved by the mom, a good full circle would have been her saying some lovely words of blessing at the wedding. But whatever. This episode doesn't improve my rating, the episode itself will get probably a 5, but I said I'd update so here it is

ONE OF THE BEST SERIES OF 2023 TO ME.

I'm seeing so many negative reviews about this series, I don't know why, but I love it. It's my first time watching these two actors, and they blew my mind with their amazing chemistry and exceptional performances, making me eagerly anticipate each new episode. The story may have its flaws, but their talent shines through, creating a unique and memorable viewing experience.

Jakjaan: Some of her facial expressions were overdone, but she was amazing; her acting felt real, drawing the audience into the story with genuine emotions and a captivating presence on stage.

Kate: We didn't get to see much of her, but she did a great job at drawing the audience's attention whenever she appeared, leaving us wanting more of her captivating presence and talent on screen.

Aya: She has now become one of my favorite Thai actresses, and her performance in this series was truly exceptional, particularly in her portrayal of the complex relationships she shared with her best friend and her girlfriend. Her ability to convey the intricacies of these connections brought authenticity and depth to the storyline, making it all the more relatable.

Her chemistry with her best friend and girlfriend was palpable, and it was heartwarming to see how her character's journey unfolded. The moments of joy and vulnerability she shared with them were beautifully portrayed, making viewers emotionally invested in her character's happiness.

When she and her girlfriend ran away together, it was a triumphant and heartwarming moment that had me cheering for their love story. It was a testament to the series' ability to showcase diverse and meaningful relationships, breaking away from traditional narratives and celebrating love in all its forms.

Her portrayal of this character has left a lasting impact on me, and I eagerly anticipate her future roles, knowing that her talent and ability to bring depth to characters will continue to captivate audiences.

Pak: I find myself utterly captivated by the depth and allure of this man's eyes. It's as though I'm ensnared in a trance, unable to tear my gaze away from their mesmerizing beauty. His portrayal of his character is nothing short of remarkable; every nuance and emotion he conveys feels so genuine that it's as if he's not acting at all. I'm not watching a performance; I'm bearing witness to the unfolding of a real-life story.

The way he inhabits his character is a testament to his incredible talent, drawing the audience into his world with an authenticity that is both rare and captivating. His eyes, in particular, serve as windows to the soul of his character, revealing depths of emotion and inner turmoil that resonate profoundly with viewers.

It's not just his physical attractiveness that makes him stand out, although that's undeniable. It's his ability to use every facet of his being, especially those entrancing eyes, to convey the essence of his character. Each glance, each expression, is a revelation, and it's a privilege to watch him bring this character to life.

In a world filled with actors, he is a true gem, a talent that leaves a lasting impression and ensures that I eagerly anticipate each new project he takes on. His ability to make the audience feel like they are part of his character's journey is a testament to his skill and dedication as an actor. I'm simply in awe of him and his extraordinary abilities.

Sunny: Seeing this guy for the first time has left me thoroughly impressed, as I've grown to adore his performance. He showcased remarkable talent, delivering a truly convincing portrayal that effortlessly drew me into the narrative. His acting exuded authenticity, allowing the audience to genuinely feel the depth of his character's love for his partner.

The connection he established with his on-screen partner was nothing short of remarkable. It was evident that he had delved deeply into his character's emotions, and his portrayal of being in love felt so genuine and heartfelt. Their chemistry was palpable, creating an enchanting on-screen dynamic that resonated with viewers.

What struck me most was his ability to convey the nuances of his character's feelings. His expressions and gestures spoke volumes, making it easy for the audience to empathize with his journey. It was more than just acting; it felt like a window into a real and profound emotional experience.

This introduction to his work has left me eagerly anticipating more of his performances in the future. His talent for making characters come to life and creating believable relationships is a testament to his skill as an actor. I'm genuinely smitten with his work and look forward to witnessing the depth and versatility he brings to his roles in the years to come.

overall STORY

This series left an indelible mark on me, and it's not just because it was amazing—it was a masterpiece in every sense. The characters, the acting, and every scene were nothing short of spectacular. I found myself completely engrossed in the storyline, eagerly anticipating each twist and turn, and craving more with every passing moment. The intimate scenes were handled with unparalleled grace and sensibility, making them some of the most tastefully executed moments I've witnessed in a long time.

The characters in this series were more than just well-written; they were beautifully fleshed out, multi-dimensional individuals who felt like they could walk right off the screen and into the real world. Their depth and complexity were a testament to the incredible writing and character development that went into the series. Each actor brought their character to life with such authenticity that it felt like I was observing real people rather than fictional creations.

The acting, without a doubt, was extraordinary. The cast's performances were nothing short of stellar, immersing me in a world where their emotions and struggles became my own. Every character was portrayed with such conviction and precision that it was impossible not to be moved by their journeys. The chemistry between the actors was palpable, adding layers of authenticity to their relationships.

Now, let's talk about those intimate scenes. They were, hands down, some of the most tastefully and beautifully executed moments in recent memory. Rather than resorting to gratuitousness, they were handled with sensitivity and grace, emphasizing the emotional connection between the characters rather than mere physicality. It's a testament to the series' commitment to storytelling and authenticity in its portrayal of relationships.

I wholeheartedly recommend this series to anyone seeking a captivating, emotionally resonant experience. If you're hesitating due to negative comments or reviews, my advice is simple: don't let them sway your decision. Watch the series for yourself, immerse yourself in the world it creates, and then make your judgment. Sometimes, the best experiences are those that defy expectations and surprise you in the most delightful ways.

In conclusion, this series is a true gem in the world of entertainment. It excels in every aspect, from its well-crafted characters to its exceptional acting and its ability to keep you eagerly coming back for more. Don't miss the chance to be captivated by its storytelling, and remember, sometimes the most rewarding experiences are the ones you discover on your own, free from the influence of others' opinions.

a win is a win

Yeah, pretty good ending to a show with some pretty shit morals, but what can you do? All my friends hate arranged marriages. It's me; I am all the homies. Let me average it, then explain, and then bam. The average for me was 8.71 stars out of 10, and because of the bad morals in this, I rounded it down to an 8.5 stars out of 10. And once again, I am not checking the grammar on this because I am lazy.

I saw my baes pai, sky, rain, and payu, and that's literally one of my favorite Thai dramas (by rewatches and rating, also bad buddy and moonlight chicken, but that's fine). I love love in the air so much that this caught my eye. There were 7 episodes, which was a weird number, and it lowkey turned me off. I had high hopes for this, and I say they were reached. They weren't that high because it's a Thai drama, but they were still pretty high.

They were going pretty damn fast, and I would if I had to smash a love story into seven episodes; that shit is hard. I respect what they did with this. I fell in love with Nuea because he is so cute. From his visuals, his voice, and just everything about his overall character and the actor, it was just awesome. I was threatening Lom because if he dared to hurt my baby, I would have to take action. This is me taking action. aggressively typing it in a review.

Me once again raving over love in the air because I love it. They knew what they were doing by putting them in here. I would say they stole the show, but I totally forgot they were even in here by the 5th episode, and I am only now remembering as I go back to my reviews, so they didn't really steal the show that much. But I had to milk them. And I respect it, to be honest. I was lowkey hooked, and there's not much more to it. I was so obsessed with these two and their drama and just all the stuff they were doing. I couldn't wait for new episodes.

The moms pretending that Lom and Yiwa are actually in love like they didn't arrange the marriage themselves is beyond me. I hate arranged marriages; they shouldn't even exist. If you don't back your old mom's ass up and leave these poor gay kids alone, They were worried about Lom cheating on Wa with Marine, but I had no idea and probably still have no idea that it was the other way around. Nuea was making the right calls and then going back on his word because that dick was too good. I respect it. Goals to be honest, well, not the cheating.

These last few episodes were watched in a two-hour span, not 1 to 2 months ago. Lom finally got shit right and straight with Nuea because he was just straight up not really telling him anything about his arranged ass marriage. Nuea put his ass to work instead of taking him back immediately, and I just love to see that. He needed the right of passage stuff, and that's always fun. Lom was showing his love and dedication to Nuea and his family. Sun and Ryu, I think their names were, were so darn cute, I loved them. I am glad they milked them a bit, because they were just so damn cute. Nuea's personality is so genetic, it's not even funny. Love them.

The little 2-minute clip of Nuea and Lom as kids was cute, and it was really not important but at the same time was important because it showed how the future played out. I'd love to see the random ass side quest in Chiang Mai, where they rekindle their love and fix all their shit. I'd love to see that in Thai dramas. Marine started to go through the shit that Nuea has been going through this whole time. I'm glad they got past their everything is going wrong and the whole world is out to get us phase. It's good to see

"Oh no, my bride." Continues on with his life like nothing happened. It was a good ending of just happy vibes, which is always fun to see. Lom faking it and his mother being happy for him and Nuea because she just wants her son to be happy was nice to see. She isn't too sure about gay marriage, but she is willing to give it a shot to support her son. We love some character development. I loved these two a lot. They had a lot of ups and downs but came through in the end, and that's always good to see. Yeah, I had a really short one that I thought I would just get out of the way now. I copied and pasted that last bit from my episode 7 review because I am a lazy fuckwad. Yeah, good show. I would recommend it because it's short and sweet, and I love the acting. Okay bye!

Adorable

So I am one of those people who happens to LOVE MAME--she has this ability to:

A) create love stories seemingly out of thin air, and

B) Create both beautifully flawed human characters, and sweet fluffy well meaning ones that aren't too saccharin

She did the latter with Wedding Plan, and she's maturing as a screenwriter, which really shows in both this series and LITA(see my LITA review for the reasons why)

Yes, the series was a little bit short, but it was well executed and well acted. I loved the clever idea behind the title and the awesome LITA cameos(seriously, how cute is it to see Sky/P'Pai and Payu/Rain's stories tied up in such a cute little bow, I squealed SO MUCH).

Pak is so freakin cute I could die. His portrayal of Nuea as someone I just want to hug and cuddle is spot on. He's so well meaning and so sensitive and just wants to be a good guy. I absolutely adore that he fights his feelings for Lom BECAUSE HE IS A GENUINELY GOOD GUY, and not just for the plot's sake. His over thinking made me smile so damn much and when he cried, I cried with him.

Lom is interesting in that he is very upfront with his intensions toward Nuea, but he also proves what a loyal friend he can be to Yiwa by sticking by her through this crazy plan. His pursuit of Nuea and the way that he is totally open about it(at least with Nuea and not his family) is refreshing, and made me squeal. I hope Sunny does more series because his performance had me glued to the screen.

Can I have a best friend like Yiwa? Aya is freaking adorable and authentic and knows her character inside and out. The scene after the initial wedding plan meeting where she is so encouraging to Lom and and everyone around her won me over. This girl also has some spine and substance which is fabulous after seeing female BL characters that just seem to be in the series for comedic effect or to Make Things Complicated for the Main Leads, or just to be annoying.

I was smiling every time Yiwa was on the screen and even before I had a clear idea of what exactly was going on I loved her conversation in the car with Lom about if he pursued Nuea she would support him( I thought it was a little weird, yes, but I was willing to roll with it, especially after I knew why she said it.

Both couples in this series are fantastically healthy. Yes, there is a little bit of miscommunication between Nuea and Lom, but it comes from a very real place of Fear of Rejection(Lom) and Wanting To Do The Right Thing(Nuea), but Yiwa and Marine's relationship was a fabulous contrast to that. Neither couple had anything cringey and both the NC scenes where HOT(the girls were a little tamer, but that's ok cause it still made me smile).

I did take off one star for story, mostly because after Nuea ran back home the plot felt a little rushed and I would have loved to see more of Lom and Nuea together with Nuea's family but the little snippet we got was ok--especially Donut and Forth as Ryu and Sun(when do we get their story, because awwwwwwwwwwwww)

Also, that Tongrak reference made me squeal for more than one reason (LOVE SEA--and if the worship ceremony pics are anything to go by, Aya is in that cast as a Support Role and I am TOTALLY THERE FOR THAT BECAUSE I WANT MORE AYA!!!)

(Can you see that this show had me smiling and squealing a lot? Ha, ha.)

Wedding Plan was a fun fluffy sweet little binge, and yes I've already seen it four times and will keep watching it when I need to indulge in a mini squeal fest, the end!

A MAME offering, but…not bad? I mean, not great either, although I will put up with a lot for the premise because I eat stuff like that up, but I've seen way worse from MAME. However, it's not going to become a guilty pleasure show like LITA or an unexpected comfort show despite myself (at least the AePete parts) like Love by Chance. It was fine.

Things I really did like: Nuea's family and his workmates (I loved how fiercely both sets of people stood by and supported him through everything from his huge mistake in sleeping with the groom to running back home to deal with it to basically adopting Lom into the group when they worked it out ("we have a new brother in law"). The lesbians - I could have used a bit more heat but I'll take it for now. Let's work on normalizing GL in our BL (frankly I'd love it if we started doing more of that and less of the token straight couple or three)! Was a little annoyed by how they had to fix everything but I won't pretend that the bits with them in episode 6 didn't get to me - I may have teared up a little when Marine was being treated so horribly by Yiwa's mother - that whole thing was so upsetting on a number of levels. And I was happy for them that they could afford to run away to their own happy ending. Also the gag of Lom pretending to be devastated when he was anything but was kinda funny, I will give the show that. And I did like the way that Lom's mom came around - realizing with time that losing her son the same way Yiwa's mother lost her could be a very real result if she kept being rigid. I also liked that she didn't just suddenly become a PFLAG member (or whatever the equivalent would be here) but simply told her son that she would work on it, because that felt more realistic.

The show also got me with how lonely it must have been for them, to know that they were gay and that they could never say anything, and how overwhelming it must have been to find someone who understood in each other. No wonder they'd do anything for each other. I would have too, if I'd had someone like that growing up.

So yeah. It was fine. I mostly had a good time, even if I got a little bored once or twice. Frankly when it comes to MAME, being a little bored is preferable to feeling like the top of my head is about to come off because I'm so annoyed. it could have been a lot worse.

a romcom at its core with an interesting set-up and wrapped up story

to really start off, i feel the need to say that i feel like this series isn't so serious about itself; it's a lighthearted, fun and chaotic romcom at its core, with a tinge of sadness and for some, reality.

i went in blind with not much expectations and i really ended up enjoying it and looking forward to it every week. for a series of its length, i think they did well in pacing and developing the characters and its story plots. by the end of ep 7, they managed to tie everything (or well most of it) in for me, especially regarding the questions and doubts i had. i wavered a bit between ep 1-4 but ep 5-7 really set it all in and boosted my enjoyment. (yes i am biased because ep 6 is my favourite)

for maximum enjoyment, i recommend either 1. don't think too much about it, 2. give it time to sink in and pick back up, 3. really dive into understanding the story and characters. I think other than the fact that i have a soft spot for romcoms, i really liked how i could, in some way, understand and relate to the characters especially on the issue of familial pressure and how it conflicts with the love you have with your family. they also had some really good emotional scenes and conversations (coughs in ep 6)

from a story standpoint, i felt like they did good in creating character motives. these characters are anything but perfect, they mess up, they don't make the smartest choices but we can see their intentions and reasons (for the most part) there is a sense of realism in the portrayal of the characters and progression of story, even if its short so it may seem rushed sometimes. it's not perfect, but really most shows aren't and for me they don't need to be because my feelings for it was still very positive and it still brought me joy.

the actors did really good, they're not experts or like perfect but they did an amazing job especially sunnypak in their first series together. sunnypak had really good chemistry and tension too. i liked yiwa and marine, they had chemistry, but their intimate/ kissing scenes still need some work. the production quality was definitely on their higher side with a good concept and aesthetically pleasing scenes. I really liked the ost esp the main one by sunnypak "you couple me"/"you paired with me" that they used for both the op and the ed; i think it suited the theme and i found the lyrics "the bride is paired with the groom, and you, no matter what, will be paired with me" quite cute.

like with any show, it may not be your cup of tea and that's fine, it's just that it was mine and i do think its worth the shot :D at the end of the day, how much you feel and take from a show depends on you and how you understand or relate to it so have fun and take what u can from it!

P.S. watch ep 6 :)

Inesperado

REcomendo.

Cute drama and give different vibe other than college love story

First thing I’m disappointed with the users reviews why the hell they are giving less ratings than 6? I came across most of the series which are rubbish they only give bed scenes and story and few of them same stories college series but this drama is actually good in kind of stories, lead actors , scripts I really enjoyed it all 7 episodes lead actors were cute and great at acting I hope I can see them again in new series and story also was really good a new theme of love story and there was gl couple also although I’m not fan of gl stories but may be one day I would fall for it too like I did for bl series step by step everybody can fall for gl just my opinion and so far this story was amazing from beginning comedy wise , cute and sweet moments, and the Lom pursuing nuea was really heart touching moments, when u want another person but can’t be with him those kind of emotions were filled in this story but somewhere I felt when he went to village for nuea they should have given more scripts to another couple but unfortunately they didn’t may be because of 7 episodes but anyway I’m happy with this series guys don’t see other reviews you will not regrets it although it doesn’t have much spicy story like fight between leads, jealous moments, or triangle love story but this is cute story if u have been watched only college stories then this could be your new bait just watch it and enjoy I would wait for Wednesday every week finally it’s done happy hope to see them again
