The show that reprogrammed my brain into loving Chinese Drama wigs, or at least into having the deranged thought of “idk they aren’t THAT bad”. Gay television even moms can enjoy. I have very little to say on this show bc it is my religion 

This show includes the shocking reveal that Xiao Zhan is absolutely snatched. Like fr I’m talking 26” snatched it is totally ridiculous 

Wang Yibo didn’t read the book but clearly he didn’t need to

I have never seen a show before where you can so visibly see the writing team descend into madness. The drama starts off serious, but then the writers clearly realized they are writing a web series for a boy band so maybe nothing actually fkking matters at all. Well they were right, and the series is all the better for it!

 Genuinely one of the funniest dramas I have ever seen, the progression of “idk fuck it” throughout the series is truly glorious to behold 

Made me really interested in trying a beverage I can only purchase in China which is too bad because Chinese product placement is the only kind that works on me but it’s never things I can realistically obtain 

absolute nonsense is the point 

If you put a gun to my head and told me to explain the plot of this show I would pull the trigger for you. For some reason people in the underworld wear striped polo shirts and khakis. Even in hell you cannot escape dumpy graphic tees and battered flip flops

I love nerdy gay professor bachelor man as main character, except when he gets all dressed up in his Black Robe Envoy fit he is giving more Evil Kermit than Demon King. Also there is a cat boy present who wears pretty much exclusively overalls 

This show has by far the most baffling ending to any show I have seen, but as with most Chinese shows after a certain number of episodes I will accept basically anything without questioning it too much 

Finally, the IBS representation the people have been demanding 

I guess I will just have to take Fei’s word for it that she is into men. Yes Xie does the cooking, yes he does the cleaning, as well as the needlework. He posses the ancient bloodline technique of deuces ✌︎. Wang Yibo makes a 10/10 house husband and proves that he can act fr. I like how much focus was on the female characters, and I am currently searching for a desk calendar of Fei’s grandpa. Bone Piercing Blue is the worst yet best plot device, The Pulling Array is sick even tho how tf does it work, the rocks were visibly plastic. Rocks generally should not have visible bounce. Lowkey some of the cheapest and worst sets I have seen, even when the characters are supposedly outside the lighting is frequently giving sound stage. I feel a strange sense of dread and unease when I look at these plastic terrarium-esque sets, they make me ill.  Also Wang Yibo w bangs, more of that please 

I wish I remembered more about this show, but I gave it 8 stars so clearly I enjoyed it for whatever reason at the time. Xiao Zhan is there which is reason enough to at least attempt watching anything

another absolute banger of queer representation coming from Mainland China, I did not expect this. Wen KeXing is prime blorbo material and one of the greatest C Drama characters I have ever experienced, Xu/Zhou Zi Shu is an incredibly very beautiful man with something very strange about him…is that…his natural hairline…? The wig looking downright natural at times…hmmm…

The two MLs prove themselves to be dad material by frequently asking their son where their other dad is. Dad, I do not know, I never know, if you do not know I do not know. Chengling is on my list of C Drama Goodest Boys

Wen KeXing sows seeds of chaos for shits and giggles like no other ML and then feels kinda bad about it but not quite bad enough to not do similar things in the future and well evidently it’s not a dealbreaker for Xu so why bother changing more than you have to 

the lies and deceit flow freely. also like half a sect gets totally bodied by zombies and it is super embarrassing for them. The pugilistic world is cruel indeed…still you should consider not letting your guards wear headphones while on duty so a screaming horde of drugmen don’t sneak up on you next time 

Watch Episode 18 for a good time 

If you are expecting to see wolves, you are in the wrong place. If you want to see the worst foundation match of all time you are in the right place. Idk what to even say about this one, the ML is so insanely unlikeable I can't understand why he would be written like that. He chokes women way too frequently, also I don't find attempted rape forgivable. He never has clear motives  or a discernible character arc. Idk I just hate him so much? I learned with this drama how much people are willing to lie to themselves when I saw Wolfie described in a YouTube comment section as having a "beautiful healthy tan". Just say you would hit that and go!!! unfortunately I personally would not, which makes this much more of a difficult watch.   

I wanted to like Ma Zhai Xing but she was pathetic and a push-over yet got multiple insane power-ups handed to her. I got so annoyed at her by the end I didn't care if she lived or died. I think she goes beast mode at some point but my brain is effectively mush after watching 49 episodes of The Wolf so I do not remember.  bro I watched 49 eps of this

Bao Na is one of the only redeeming things about this show, her dedication to the principle of "hoes before bros" is admirable. 

Ji Chong was a fun cutie with a falcon but his character arc was becoming a boneless jelly man who apologizes to his King dad for getting mad when he killed all his friends and that's portrayed as...a good thing?? bitch no. Idk what the message is here but it is not a good one

In this show we learn that the cure for “Terminal 100% Fatality No Chance of Surviving Deadly Death Disease” is plenty of rest and a warm cup of milk before bed 

I would recommend this show only if you enjoy raging at dumb characters or are sexually attracted to Darren Wang.

Hmmm, this cliff is pretty high up...I would say the only person who could survive a fall such as that is some sort of wolf-man hybrid

This show contains both my favorite wig ever and my least favorite. A wig with bangs so powerful I hated the SML until he lost them…I like his character a lot but I whenever the bangs were on screen it was truly all I could see and my passionate hate transferred onto the man himself. Ni sha le wo… On the topic of wigs, the ML has the most devastating wig downgrade of all time. he gets this new wig with bangs that is simply not giving and the whole time he’s wearing it im like reimagining the whole show with the previous ponytail and sidebangs wig bcuz my man…A tsutsun with a perky pony?? say less!!! this man goes through a roller coaster of wig changes although I was the one getting whiplash 

Yan Dan performs a magical castration and proves that a FL can be cute and fun without being as dumb as a bag of rocks, ML abuses tortoises and cries and cries and cries. everyone im so sorry send me help, I realized something was wrong with me when I was loving how often this man is in tears. like yes cry about it…Yan Dan’s sister is also crazy hot but unfortunately we don’t get to see too much of her 

The green screens ask you to push your suspension of disbelief to the limit, and  we spend more time whale riding than I would have expected. The mortal realm arc slaps, the final arc is kinda bad. Look it’s not perfect and you may get tired of seeing the ML do nothing but take Ls, but it has the perfect blend of fun characters, dumb bullshit, and hot people that is everything I need in a C drama. 200/10

A FL that makes me mute my television, a ML for people who want to call someone “daddy” (sorry for being crass but im pretty sure flavors of kink are intentionally present). If you want striking visuals with cool CGI and lots of epic moments then watch this. If you want a compelling story with likeable characters, do not. The FL acts like a toddler during the first part of the show in a way that is almost unbearable to watch. She is SO pretty but i could barely even appreciate that because I was too busy being squicked out by her toddler antics. Idk why the SML was in love with the FL. Like she was nice to you once and gave you first aid in a forest or something and now you are willing to give your life for this girl who acts like a sexy baby? dude come on, he is honestly weird for that

I thought the ML’s servant dragon man guy was gonna have an unrequited love for him for some fucking reason which honestly would’ve been better because the girl they paired him with I also hated. Giving “silly boy trucks are for girls” energy 

I liked when the ML filled himself with the Bone Devouring Spikes that they said would make him suffer unbearable pain every midnight to dawn, which happened exactly once until the story just completely forgot about them. Or maybe I’m dumb but they were presented as a big deal yet truly seemed to simply resolve on their own. less of an issue than an ingrown toenail

However it looks better than any other C drama I’ve seen which is regrettable 

The second half of this show features the ML being down horrendous in a way that makes you go oh man he’s way more into her than she seems into him idk how this is gonna go down but I’ll pray for you bud
