The original web novel was primarily a detective series, but the author did say the two leads are canon (there's a lot of misinfo going around that the novel wasn't BL, but it's mostly that it didn't fall into the BL genre as it's not about relationships, not that the main pair aren't supposed to be a couple),  The series is basically a complete rewrite using the same characters.

This is actually an original BL show, not an adaptation.  Including it for completeness.

Based on a Priest BL novel.  Very true to the original novel.  Great acting by the main cast.   Preserves as much of the relationship as possible.  Watch the special extra ending!  

Based on a novel widely considered to be BL.  The author later claimed it wasn't meant to be BL, and the movie promos tried pretty hard to distance the film from being BL.

Original original version of the novel was BL, later rewritten to be more focused on palace drama with more of a BG bent.  The drama isn't explictly BL but a lot of tropes remain.
