Where is the fluff?

I started watching this series just cause of Gong Yoo and perhaps a bit of fluff but every episode is just getting more and more serious. Life threatening illness is the flavor of the week, boy this show is getting more and more grim.

Great for Yoo to be able to show his acting chops but it is clear he is still just honing his talent at this stage. I won't say he has come a long way but the change is really pronounced.

Nice to see Gong Hyo-Jin not be as easily swayed as see seemed to be in earlier episodes. Her refusal to remove the ring even after Tae-In asked and her honesty about her feelings was refreshing. I am at the 43 minute mark on the episode and so far she has not cried this episode so that is also a plus. OH wait 5 minutes later and she is bawling...spoke too soon.

What is happening to our lead?

When the show started Gong Hyo-Jin's character was introduced as a strong and independent woman. Despite her trouble making nature, she was certainly a force to be reckoned with. For the past 7 episodes, she has been weak and pushed around by everyone from the principal to the students. All she does is weep and feel sorry for herself only finding a spine when Kim Da-Hyun or Gong Yoo give her one.

As for the plot, the show is set in a nigh school setting so I guess they are compelled by the laws of screenplay for bullying had to show up eventually, but surprisingly it was not the boys but the girls who were shown bullying. AAH teenage angst.

Ok the show is showing a pattern here, but the pace of the show is so slow that many viewers would have lost interest by now. The only reason I stuck around was sheer stubbornness. Every week random obstacles are faced by the students and Gong Hyo Jin solves them showing the audience her character but still does she have to be so whiny and spineless all the time?

I prefer Gong Yoo's confession in this episode more than the previous one. Hopefully Kim Da-Hyun's character will finally show some true colors rather than the pastel shades he has been displaying so far.

Goodbye Monster

My god man two murder attempts by two separate people he thought he was helping in immediate succession!! I know he is the bad guy but poor Joon Ho.

Also has any one noticed that in the world of this show there can only be abdomen wounds, be it gun shots or knife stabs, always on the side.

I am surprised that the investigation team survived, they took Hyeon's help for every single case and could't have solved any without his help.

The show somehow managed to get everyone in it happy endings with a batman joker-ish finish for the leads.

Reveals

Ji An was invited late to the brainy trio's group but she finally made it to the sacred inner circle, let us see what she has to contribute to the group, but I have to be honest here, all I see her is as a distraction or bait at best.

Aaaaw psychopathic killer is down in the dump because everyone is mad at him..Boo hoo.

The team leader/major players dinner was so awkward, he seemed like a fish out of water with that group.

Lee Hyeon's adoptive mother just got stabbed and he still remains stoic! Min regrets the planning officer not having a brutal death and Hyeon just tussles his hair with a smile...Really!!!

Why is Lee Hyeon's reveal at the end of the episode such a big deal, all the major players knew well enough for a while now, it's jut that they didn't let on what they knew.

All hope is lost for Ji An

I was so proud when Ji An showed up at the rooftop at the nick of time, but just like the idiot that she has proven to be so far, she failed. I really have a hard time seeing why Jang Na Ra chose this role, it is just like the foam padding that comes along with something valuable which in this case is Lee Hyeon's character. She is just the bubble wrap on top. I am beginning to think it is going to be too late for our heroine to show any gumption in this show.

I liked the scene when Min threatened Joon Ho and then the tree reference. I could see mikes/gauntlets getting dropped everywhere!

I had forgotten for a while what a psycho Lee Hyeon is confronting the planning officer in front of the cheif of police, what if he didn't know what she was up to. She could have gotten into serious trouble, and this is the woman who raised him after his father was murdered. That scene subsequently followed by him doting on Min was just unsettling for me. He may be the lead but there is something off about our hero. His intellect I find is keeping him from bonding with normal folk, it is like a human trying to reason with a turtle, they just won't understand each other. He might as well be from another planet.

I expected more

It is funny how the proverbial s**t has hit the fan and the major male leads are having an intellectual discussion. Even when interrogating the perpetrators brother the brain team just rip him to shreds with their hypothesis I had a big smile on my face. Oh the burden that the intellectually gifted have to bear talking down to regular folks...sigh!

This episode Ji Ah could have shined, but even when she acted in the right way she subconsciously was second guessing wondering if Lee Hyeon would do. Granted she is brave but that is it, she can't fight, she is not smart, suave or confident. She just disappoints every time. She even shows signs of PTSD which is believable but disappointing for the strong female lead I was hoping she would be, the kind that would let nothing or no one phase her.

I see how the show is trying to justify Min's actions with this episode, but I'm not buying it. I suspect that he has something to do with dear old mom's death too.

Also Lee Hyeon had fish eyes during the kiss!!!

Ridiculousness ensues

I really don't get how a cop doesn't have a service weapon at her house and how a she can't defend herself from a perpetrator. She is a cop!!! They are trained for this sort of thing. So far her character is the weakest link in the series which is unfortunate because without her character the series would have been darker yes but I feel better. I have nothing against the actress just the character.

Obligatory lead couple playing house - Check

Brother's identity reveal - Check

The show seems long drawn out yet so much is happening in every episode to keep the pace quick.

Also can anyone get how smiley and nonchalant the shipping company murderer was, it was as if they were discussing traffic misdemeanors!! This team gets to look at murders on a weekly basis, did they forget this is Korea?

Why her?

Ji An may not think that Lee Hyeon is a monster but I am beginning to think so. When he went and told Jung Ha's father of his fate, he just relished the pain and suffering that he caused the man to feel. I know the guy is the scum of the earth but a normal person would still feel sorry for him, but not our hero here.

Ji An seems to be only in the series for comic relief and I am guessing a shoulder for our stoic lead to lean on as the series progresses which makes me a little disappointed in the waste of talent the writers have in the character having Jang Na Ra playing her. Any actresses with a pretty face could have played her, why choose a veteran actress like Jang? The only thing she has to contribute to the plot is that she is a cop and as the couple's excursion at the amusement park proved, she isn't even a good one when she can't tell if she is being followed.

Psycho's galore

Why does Lee Hyeon not even bat an eyelid when the prosecutor goes missing? He was right there and he did nothing. A lack of apathy is something that is common for psychopathic killers.

We finally get a look into Ji An's motive for following Hyeon around. The bickering however, is getting pretty old pretty soon. Also can Ji An please show some intellect, she seems like a bumbling idiot all the time especially when everyone is trying to figure out who knows whom at the hospital at the end of the episode.

I am convinced that the lawyer is his brother and the neighbor forensic doctor is the murder.

Also am digging the suspicious vibe that all the characters are giving out. No one is who they say they are and everyone has ulterior motives. I like it, more suspects to make the plot more interesting.

Yet another murder case that Hyeon is involved in. The guy seems to be the harbinger of death, he may well be the grim reaper. Myeong-Woo feels the same way as me too.

15 minutes left for the episode to end and the lawyer and neighbor acknowledge familiarity. I knew I was right!!

Loosing interest

Is it just me or does Lee Hyeon's character remind anyone of his character from Reply 1997? Genius with a bad attitude, never forgets to call in favors that are owed to him and treats his leading lady like crap...come to think of it that is what all Kdrama leads are like but seriously am I taking crazy pills here?

Why is the forensic doctor so cool with aiding a crime suspect?

What happened with the lead for the previous murder case? Is no one looking for the guy that the chaebol jerk was working for?

How can Ji An rationalize harboring a suspect at home and stealing state files to help him clear his name? Why can't Lee Hyeon call his adoptive mother?

I liked the big dipper scene, understandably the writers are trying to develop a bond between the leads, but I don't get why they will eventually end up together. They can't match wits cause he is clearly smarter than she is, she isn't cute or irresistibly adorable and even if he feels this way they are not showing it and I am afraid that when the eventual pairing comes up it will feel contrived and forced upon the audience.

Incompetence galore

Can anyone acknowledge the incompetence of the police investigation unit in this series. Lee Hyeon clearly said that he was not helping in the investigation yet he is allowed to waltz into the station interrogation room for no reason?! I get that the planning manager (what ever that means) is allowing him, but how can he walk around the station randomly swiping things from desks and no one notices. The only person who notices him is the lady officer with the coffee and she's like 'It's ok take anything you want'.

The suspect being interrogated is supposed to be a chaebol and yet no lawyers after he has been in police custody for that long? This is fiction but I really want to draw a line here.

Also is it already established that Lee Hyeon and Ji An can now telepathically communicate like they did in the interrogation room?

As a kid, I don't ever remember being allowed to wander around town unchaperoned, but for both Lee Hyeon and Ji An, they can go to church on their own, I have heard Korea is safe but this safe? Speaking of unexplained things, why does Ji An live in what seems to be a store called Han's design? Lee Hyeon casually mentions premeditated murder at a police station right in front of Ji An and she jokes around with him!

I get why In Guk chose this role but I fail to see why Jang Na Ra chose to do this role, she is just playing a bumbling idiot. Let's hope the future episodes get better

Flashback!!

Can this show get any cuter!!! I love it when the Joon Park is having a flashback and the entire room just freezes...when we are watching a drama we join the character in the flashback but yeah, what happens to the people around. According to the rules of Dramaworld, they would freeze because everything continues on after as if nothing happened.

As imagined Claire would definitely have fan girl moments, I mean who wouldn't right?

Simply freaking out

How many of you loved the scene when Claire is introduced to Dramaworld with all the drunk girls and boys babbling nonsense! Now that I come to think of it, if a world like this existed, this would obviously be a common occurrence.

Personally I am jealous of Claire all the time imagining the dramas I would like to be zapped into myself. But the real question is would I be myself or a character from the show?
