Not engaging enough.

Wanted a bit of wholesome feels from a j-drama but sadly this failed to capture my interest. Though centred on food and gives us enough shots of it, there must be something in the production or the lack of story that made me stop. I thought the acting wasn’t that great as well. For a short episode it felt too dragged and I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I guess one can watch it if they have nothing else to watch, but despite this feeling I wasn’t able to continue. The premise seems interesting enough, but something about it was just not engaging. Maybe it’s the pace, or the characters. Anyway, if you like food dramas, this one will probably make you feel good — there’s enough focus on it with the recipes being shared at the end.

W-H-Y THIS SHITTIEST MELODRAMA MESSY REMAKE FROM TAIWANESE ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY?!!

MIDLIFE CRISIS, THAT'S WHY!!=>Just a horrible remake from Taiwanese melodrama, WHAT IF, same title of ANOTHER ME living elsewhere in a 'sliding door' different timeline, borrowed blatantly from US movie, starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

WASTE OF TIME: waste of LXY's talent as his filler drama, like it's FL-centric's weird timelines w/ multiple men & empty melodrama plot being too silly to fathom or sorted out properly, like a half-thought gone nowhere fast, like a revolving door of should she go or should she stay, UGH.

NEXT LXY'S C-DRAMA: skipping over to his next drama, hopefully it's gonna be much better than this lackluster 2 timelines-in-1, gone as "another me" of a double life recycled up in smoke.

RECYCLED, RINSE & REPEAT: way too many better things to watch out there, like this doesn't even deserve any rating at all, totally unwatchable, and NO, THE GRASS AIN'T GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!

FL IS TOO HORRIBLE/UNRELATABLE: FL is just too wishy-washy w/ that other ML, seriously misled without any decency, chemistry or humanity.

NEXT LXY'S DRAMA, like too bad there's NO minus rating/vote on this review site, I'd give it a non-watchable minus~!

Zhang Zhe Han and Park Min Young are both very good actors. I look forward to more dramatic conflicts between the male lead Gu Chi Jun and the female lead Xu Zhen. It will be very interesting.

Just unwatchable - Chin Pang pulls it off again!

Don't know what more I can say really about Chin Pang and this drama given that I couldn't sit through the first episode.

I just can't stand Chin Pang because he keeps trying to come off as a hotshot, you know, that guy who is too cool for school (he's definitely too old to pass off as a student at a school or university) and irresistible to women, like he's China's answer to James Bond or something.

The TVB projects I guess he picks always has far too many unnecessary action scenes. Someone really should tell whoever is in charge of these projects that even the best fight choreography is not a substitute for good dialogue, a good script that at least tries to explore the human condition on some level beyond just the literal. The annoying thing about his TV dramas is he always seems to be having more fun than the viewer. That to me is not only extremely selfish, but also a sign that there is something seriously wrong with casting and the creative process at TVB. I'm not saying someone should be fired but there should be some training programmes in place for the script writers. Some script writers at TVB would then be able to learn how to write something that doesn't rely exclusively on action scenes, and a TV star who can't get over himself.

Quite honestly, I am unable to believe in any of the characters Chin Pang plays. When I watch Chin Pang on TV, I am reminded of his short TVB Covid interview. In it, he says in the past he had doubts about whether he would one day become a lead actor, and had to work really hard to get to where he is now (the top of the TVB acting food chain I guess). What's wrong with being a supporting actor? Maybe instead of trying to stand out from the crowd, how about just trying to play the part you've been given to the best of your ability? Like I said, I really can't stand Chin Pang.

It was okay but then I don’t think some actors were fit for the role. Getting into BL dramas I thought it would be better since it looked very interesting and the posters looked cool but I was so wrong. Overall would not recommend or watch it again because I just wasn’t into it as much as I thought. The guy from Legend of Yunxi was just not doing it for me cause his hair just didn’t look right lol. The other dude looked nice but I think his acting could improve more but he literally carried the show so far. The supporting roles are okay but some are just not it.

Just awful...

I am 10 minutes into episode 2, but i just could not stand it anymore... I do like fantasy stories with magic, but the lead actors in this show have no chemistry at all... The female lead is somewhat cute, but she has no sex appeal... She looks like someone's 10-year old little sister, hence I find it hard to believe she is someone's love interest... This is so silly - poor plotting, bad acting... I am not wasting my time, I am dropping it...

Beyond unbelievable

The story and characters are nowhere near reality , meaning it was impossible to believe this can happen on any level - dream, fantasy etc
At one point I was tempted to fast forward to see if I could find a relatable scene to watch..a good fight, or some romantic scene, or a hillarious one, or some witty banter..
Unfortunately is a two seasons, so too much fast forwarding - not worth my time..
It is obviously "acted", and looking fake.
The cinematography is dull, the images are dark and i get this foreboding feel...
Maybe I should get skipp to the last couple of episodes to see how it's ended..or maybe I should try it again when in a different state of mind..

mind blowing logic

Im just gonna say this real quick, and i dont mean to judge the show by this or anything. Afterall i havnt even seen it past the first 5-10 minutes or something, so what do i know anyway. But it REALLY bothers me that the actors/actresses are so much older than the characters theyre portraying. I mean just look at the female lead, she was 42, but her character is supposed to be 15. I know it might not be that important, but wtf, if the character is 15, why on earth would you choose an actress that is 42!?

Anyway, this is just a dumb "review", so dont let it stop you from watching it, if you can deal with that. It totally made me lose interest, but im just weird like that.

The first episode was good. I can give the first episode 6.5-7 out of 10. It could be better. The subject of the series is very original and beautiful, I liked it very much. It seems as if a little more care should be taken, but I think it is the director of this series or the video editor that gives this atmosphere. It's good to jump from squad to squad, but I think it should be more perfect. I watched other TV series of our young actor, he is a good actor, but he should work on himself, as if he could not accept that he was in the lead role from the first episode, it seemed that way because of his acting. I think in the coming episodes, as the mystery goes away, comedy will increase and emotional themes will take its place. So, it will be better. My favorite actress in the TV series "Life on mars" and "man to man" is already here, it will be beautiful. By the way, other viewers also noticed that the man's age was 39, but in the first episode it says 43, but in reality, he was 49 years old, I didn't know a bit.

Bobby, step out of the way for the younger TVB actors!

Bobby was an absolute joke in this. Actually, that is kind of ironic because Bobby thinks he's funny when really, he is just a loud, mentally challenged old man, you know, the kind who can't stop laughing when he talks. There's nothing worse than an old actor who can't get out of the way for the younger TVB actors to step up. If I may quote Bob Dylan's song "The Times They Are A-Changin": "Your old road is rapidly agin'/Please get out of the new one/If you can't lend your hand/For the times they are a-changin."

The trailer and the opening theme song video both seemed to say that the storyline is too clever for its own good. I may have only watched 1 episode, but I felt my hunch was right. It's a bad idea to base a TV drama on chess when it's not about playing chess! It's a particularly bad idea to use playing chess as a metaphor for mind games because "Queen's Gambit", a very-well received Netflix series that needs no further introduction, only came out a few months before this drama.

I praise the other actors and actresses in "Shadow of Justice" because they had to put up with fat-headed Bobby who improvises when he can't remember his lines. Anyone who has watched "House of Spirits" (a 2016 drama Bobby was also the lead in) would know what I mean. I think he gets away with stuff like that at TVB because he is a senior citizen and in Chinese Culture, respecting your elders goes without saying.

In short, don't watch. Go wash your hair or clean your room because that would be better time spent.

First episode and i am hooked lets see until the end

I couldn’t get over mr queen, tried several but it didnt interest me i stop at second episodes . Really miss mr queen , already rewatched it twice. I cam across this title and The first episode is very intriguing and interesting , the lead actor has superb acting skills . Its another side of him since hotel del luna . A more serious role and he nailed it. You can really feel that there are two different people with one face for ep 1 . Superb storyline even though its a giveaway with the plot summary . How its executed is the difference from those films with the same plot .Lets see until the end , for now , i am giving it a 10 .

After Pyramid Game few months back, Korean drama is back with another high school hierarchy drama. The backdrop is an international school which is regarded as one of the most influential school of Korean. The school works with the mood of Ri an - son of the founder of the school. His mood is souring each day with his tumultuous relation with Ji Ae. Enters a student with scholarship - Mr. Ha.

Reasons to watch the drama

1. The first thing which will work is the plot. Watching a thriler is always fun. And here thriller has been served right.

2. Fresh chemistry: Chemistry does not lie within leads only. The performance observed between characters in charge of pulling the story must align well which is identified in the story.

3. Performance delivered by actors have been terrific. They bore the burden of pulling the story well off.

Why skip..

1. Same hierarchy issue in school. Korea should focus on reducing this hierarchy order in their school. They infact harbour bullies in school more than in other place.

2. Well know theme makes the story predictable at many places. Even though twist is fresh, you just know what's coming next.

Verdict

A school drama with no melodramatic love angle. Twists and turns loaded as story peddling through the mess life of both upper hierarchy and lower hierarchy. If you have missed Pyramid Game, go for it. Also this time it is a boy who is up for revenge.
