SADEST DRAMA EVER!! And Why only 8.0?

Just watch this because of Kim Woo Bin's acting. He is soo good.

I knew it was a tearjerker and I thought I could handle it. But it was beyond my reach and will get attached to it even from the first episode. And let me say its because of Kim Woo Bin's acting skills alone. FL was also good and did her best but he steal the show.

Yh it has some dramatic moments that could be avoided but its ok since the drama as a whole packege is good.
The rating is given only 8.0 and I dont know why. It deserves more than 8.0.

This drama wrecked me. I came in looking for a lighthearted romance. This was so much more.
From the very first episode, you would be able to tell that this drama is no joke. It's mature and serious and will pull at your heartstrings.
It is a reminder to give second chances, to cherish those whom you love, to apologize when necessary, to speak up, to tell someone how you feel before it's too late.
While Noh Eul and Joon Young had their ups and downs, they are a prime example of trusting your gut. Don't wait until it's too late.
Joon Young was more than his illness. He was more than his career. He was more than every label he was given. He lived well and on his own terms. I'm glad that he held onto Noh Eul. I'm glad that he didn't give in.
Despite everything, Noh Eul and Joon Young were there for one another. Isn't that ultimately what true love is? In sickness and in health? Through the pain and into new beginnings.
Noh Eul had to go on with life, but Joon Young will be with her every step of the way, counting all the reasons he loves her. From one reason and way past nine and a half and a quarter and an eighth and a sixteenth.

Kim Woo Bin is Amazing and I am here for it

I was on the fence about watching this one considering I am not into melodrama and I generally go for light and breezy stuff. I somehow watched the first two episodes and while the story for me was too intense, I absolutely adored KWB. He is gorgeous and did a great job at being the angsty, sad, conflicted and sometimes cruel person his character is.

The story did not make sense at times, many characters made questionable and frustrating choices throughout the drama. However, the main leads worked for me together, their chemistry was great and they had adorable moments together. They were truly star crossed lovers and the actors played their part to perfection (yes, even Suzy).

The OST was beautiful, the cinematography carried the story-telling to some point. The side characters for me were a bit annoying. They lacked a certain depth and showed no significant development by the finale apart from the obvious change of hear that was bound to happen.

Overall, this one is a tear jerker and all those moments of brilliance and emotions belong to Kim Woo Bin, he was exceptional and carried this show on his back.

I'm depressed

Yes this drama definitely gave me depression. But that's on me cause I knew what I was getting myself into. I just finished the drama and I have to talk about it right fucking now. Yes.. It was a full on emotional ride and I enjoyed every second of it. I mean yes it had it's melodrama but it wasn’t cringe. It never made me cringe. I loved every bit of it. Every character had their own stories. The series was so beautifully made. There were so many connections. Everything just made sense somehow. Now of course you cant look for logics and science from a drama like this. It served it purpose and made me cry. I had to mentally prepare myself for the trauma I'm gonna get from next episode lol. So yes I'd say the series was good.
Kim Woo Bin owns my heart. He stole the show. The way he smiled but you could see the pain in his eyes just made the show even better. Istg I just wanted to protect our big baby Jun- Young from everything. He deserves the world. How can a person cry so beautifully please God really took His time creating this man . His smile my goodness. I'll sell myself for that smile.
I can't think of a better partner than Bae Suzy in this series. She's literally so pretty. That couple was the best in my opinion. I don’t say this often for straight couples lol.
Im Joo Hwan.... He has this really beautiful skintone. Unusual features that made him very attractive. I really was hoping him to be with Eul in the last episode. He did a great job with the character. I loved this Ji-Tae character. I wish we could actually see a lil more bromance between Ji-Tae and Jun-Young. They had a really great chemistry lol
All in all I was very satisfied with the cast. Also it broke my heart when I googled the guy who played No-Jik and found out that he was accused for sexual assault. I mean ik It's not related I still just wanted to share lol. Also Kim Woo-Bin actually dealing with cancer in real life was my last straw. Please I Couldn't take anymore of it. I can't wait for his comeback. And I really pray and hope that he's doing well.

I'm not a person who likes Melodrama, but when Kim Woo Bin get a main role....you just have to sit down and watch.
Plot: Kim Woo Bin has his main role and did an amazing job, Suzy acted natural, and that was the point of her character.
Story:It's not something "WOOOW", it's simple. Anyway it was great, has a sweet relationship, I love the way they made the flashbacks. But the drama was so depressive. Every episode is so sad and made me cry all the time ;__;
Many people hated the end, and I absolutely understand why, but I have to say, I liked it. It was so real and pure. Yes, I cried all the time with a smile just because the story is so beautiful xD It doesn't matter how many times you watch it...you will always cry.
Give it a try.
I hope Kim Woo Bin oppa gets better and returns to making amazing dramas like this (but happy ones) :(

Overall :
Yes, it was melodramatic, but what did you expect ? You can't have THAT plot and not include sad scenes. But it wasn't as melodramatic as the other reviews say. I too thought it'd be 20 episodes of "oh no I'm gonna die" but not at all. The plotline is so much more than just the main character having an uncurable illness, and we barely even see the illness's effects during most of the drama.
Besides, it looked genuine (thanks not only to the script but also to Woobin's acting), and I think it's the most important when knowing the difference between a bad melodrama and a good, sad drama.
Both the beginning and the end  were genuine and amazingly done. The middle did look a little messy, but how can you miss out on that drama just because it's "too melodramatic" ? I strongly recommend it, and I think it could suit anyone's taste since it's not just romance or tear-drop-material.

Story :
The first part of the story is satisfying - we don't have to wait to learn about the illness since it's known since the very first scenes. There's nothing in the first episodes that frustrated me. The flashbacks are well done and there's no unnecessary flashback-related cliffhangers but there's still more to learn after every episode. The beginning is really interesting and well paced. I couldn't believe the episodes weren't 20 minutes long.  The fact that they focused on the documentary and on the main characters wwas something I appreciated.
But then comes the second part, and it got a little bit boring, with many, many, many scenes of the Choi family doing their boring stuff. It doesn't help the plot either, it's just like it's a side plot that will eventually come in handy. I skipped some of those scenes to be honest and it never affected my comprehension of the main plotline. Talking about the main plotline - the main character gets hard to understand and relate to. It's frustrating because everything could have been so much easier with just a little communication but no !! He has to do dumb stuff !! Anyway, during the middle part, we barely even hear about the illness and the documentary (which were the plotlines I craved for). It transforms into a thriller. I liked it, but I probably won't remember half of what happened in those side-plots in a week.
And then, the final part.. cleared up all the built up frustration of the middle part. No more useless scenes, back to talking about the documentary a little bit, back to talking about the illness and actually being ill. I finally could get attached to some of the side characters. I cried a lot tbh.
Overall, I'd say that the story gets a little... distracted ??? in the middle, but it helps to show how determined the main character is to clean up his mess before leaving. It is frustrating, and the relationship between the two main characters is a little weird, somehow obsessive, but interesting. I liked it. I also like that we knew how it was going to end, from start to finish, it was clear, and helped guide us through the more prone-to-confusion side-plotlines

Cast :
Suzy was okay, the actress who played Joonyoung's mom was great and overall most of the characters related to No Eul and Joon Young were good actors, But!! There are two actors I really didn't appreciate : im joo hwan (choi ji tae) and Im ju Eun (Yoon Jung Eun). Choi Jitae was hard to play since he's already a blank character, but I really didn't feel like he suited the role at all.
I'm still giving a great note because Kim Woobin's acting was amazing. His sleeping face is more expressive than the whole Choi family (except Haru). He's a great actor, what more can I say.

Music :
The songs weren't outstanding but the ambiant sounds were great at building up tension subtly. It wasn't too "in-your-face" but I feel like they did a great job on the sounds, more than on the songs (not saying the songs weren't good - they were - but I think I'll mostly remember the small ambiant details rather than the main OSTs)

I finished the drama with very mixed feelings...
The male main character made many decisions that were not understandable at first and later you were able to understand it a bit... but not totally.
It was very heart- and nerve-wrecking.
But one thing I have to admit: it was that good and exciting that I finished this drama in just 4 days! (Still in pre-Christmas-exam-period, so it is fast!!)
All actors did a great job! I was so impressed that they acted with emotions that seemed so pure and realistic.
The story line was very exciting and I cried soooo many times, which I normally don't, cause I know that it's not real... I always had to "wake myself up" that I'm back to reality after watching it.
Heartbreaking, but awesome Drama!

Amazing... The story, the cast, the OST, the ending.. It will be some years until I find another gem of a kdrama I'm pretty sure.

Story was pretty tearjerking, what would someone do when diagnosed with terminal disease? Worry about fulfilling his life, or worry about who he is leaving behind...?

I know many people didn't like kim woo bin's character but you have to imagine how far he's pushed into a corner, his eyes tell hundreds of words just by looking into the camera. The others were each perfect in their roles too.

The soundtracks were perfectly timed to the scenes and forces the manliest man to cry like a little girl. Every time I hear Little Braver I remember so many scenes.

This is a MUST watch if you're into melodrama, get ready to cry your eyeballs out.

This drama had so much potential the first few episodes. Their banter and teasing...their chemistry was off the charts. Imo this drama should have stayed that way, more of a romcom, instead of turning so melo. The writer's version of melo in this drama was the "pushing you away because I love you too much" trope, which as usual involved "being mean to you because I love you too much." Except he even went so far as to kick her, give her evil looks as he's kissing someone else, ignore her telling him she loves him and instead inviting another girl inside, etc. There were a few more scenes of good chemistry, and the pacing was pretty good until about episode 16, but otherwise the frustration went on and on. ML pushing the FL away and pretending not to like her because he has an illness. Instead of just opening up to her about what's going on. Incredibly frustrating. By the middle, this drama completely lost me.
And how many times was the FL going to stand outside ML's house sulking and hoping to be let in like a lost puppy?
This drama wasn't for me.

Sad But Beautiful Story

I have read many of the reviews of what many thought about this show, and whether certain situations were unnecessary or not. But for me, I couldn't care less about how the story should or had unfolded. After completing this drama all I have to say is it conveyed quite a powerful and meaningful message to me.

It provokes the idea of what one would do with the limited time they are given. The story begins with our main lead playing out a role for an action film in which he is scripted to die in the end but faced with his own reality of having a terminal illness he exclaims "I don't want to die like this". Of course, given his situation, this drama then ends with the death of our actual main lead in the final episode. There were a lot of complicated and unforeseen turns of events that played throughout the series but ignoring all that, we were left with the raw context that was being directed toward the viewers. What would we do if were told our time was coming to an end? In a way, the show demonstrates to us the scenario of our two main leads and how they chose to deal with their situations. Whether the choices they made were right or wrong, it became clear what each character was lacking was the acknowledgement and appreciation of each other's presence within their lives. Our male lead's mother filled with her own desire to be acknowledged by his father didn't cherish her son enough before coming to realise it, and our female lead didn't appreciate her father's effort to make a living for them enough until his sudden death. Our male lead chose to ignore his feelings or conscious and continued to live a somewhat reckless but abundeful life and therefore only focused on his success and ignoring the suffering of others who weren't of his concern. All it took to change the fates of those around him was the notice of his limited time.

Not everyone's life is a drama and therefore many forget that we face life and death on the daily basis. Each time we cross the street without the use of traffic lights, each time we stand underneath or near construction site on levels above ground level, each time we use our phones while driving, or drink our sorrows away. From the moment we awake to the moment we sleep we are on the verge of death, yet many of us live unfulfilling lifes that only continue to drain the very life within us like a terminal illness. This was what I believed this drama was conveying to its veiwers as I went from episode to episode. It was this final message that help me veiw this story as a Sad but beautiful journey of life.

If you don't believe me, don't take my word for it and try the drama yourself. Unlike me you may come to hate it or you may find it boring and too dramatic but you'll never know till you give it a try just like everything else in life.

I think like most people who watched this drama i loved that it had a realistic ending even though it was super sad, unlike some dramas where a miracle cure would just appear out of nowhere and everyone gets to live happily ever after. I do wish though we got to see a bit more of how the other characters fared after what happens at the end (you'll have to watch to know what I'm talking about), i dunno, i feel like i didn't get closure or something :), but i guess thats what make it realistic, since something like that happens to you theres no such thing as closure, just moving on...i guess they wanted to show that instead.
Like i said above i loved the realistic ending, and also that when he wasn't being a jerk to her their relationship seemed really genuine and cute :)
But other than that Kim Woo Bin was AMAZING in his character portrayal as always, and as you've seen in my ratings i really loved the cast, i feel like every character had a purpose to the storyline unlike some dramas where you just find yourself fast forwarding scenes that include that random character and their story. Even though i don't think i will re-watch it (don't think i can go through all that crying again), its definitely become one of my favourite dramas so far, and would highly recommend you watch it!
