I think it was a pretty decent movie overall. You just have to keep in mind that it's not serious, but rather a light movie that you can watch when you want to kill some time. Peronally I think I might have enjoyed it more because I was too busy laughing that the terrible latin pronunciation, it was so bad at times that I couldn't understand the latin. But from the parts i did manage to make out, the latin was correct so that's good ^^ As a side note, this film was filmed a big famous set somewhere which has been used in some other big english movies (I'm pretty sure) so the set is absolutely amazing and won't disappoint you.

Stoyline - The storyline was very unique which allowed for a lot of laughter. However there were times where I felt that the story was very unbelievable /ignoring the fact that he time travels though water/ and I felt that it ruined the storyline for me a bit. But overall I really liked the idea of the whole movie.

Cast - The cast was quite well. I felt that Abe did very well for his role, but the female lead did annoy me a bit. Generally the acting was good (I really like all the bathhouse people they were perfect for their roles).

Music - Oh the music, what can i even say about that. The whole opera thing was wonderfully hilarious (who doesn't like some arias by Tchaikovsky) and they suited the whole Roman feel of the movie well.

Rewatch value - before watching this again, I might have given it a lower score, but considering I just rewatched it with my sister, I realised it's quite good to rewatch purely because there are some hilarious scenes.

I'll tell you one thing- they really did a good casting job in Thermae Romae, specifically, if you’re going to have Japanese Man playing a Roman, Hiroshi Abe, with his strong features, makes an excellent choice! His calling the Japanese People he meets members of a strange “Flat-Faced” race had me howling with laughter! And of course, if you’re going to have a girl playing both a Roman beauty AND a modern-age dork, there’s no better choice than Aya Ueto! Ah, in the end, I have to say it was a most satisfying Flick!
