Dude...

How is an 18-minute short supposed to excuse the emotional abuse and Lhong paying a man to rape Tar? And here Lhong used to be my favorite character alongside Techno lmao, nah the man needs therapy...

I just... I don't see how this is supposed to excuse anything. Sure we got context, but that context doesn't really amount to much. Him being ignored by family and friends doesn't mean he gets to go around breaking people up just because he wants Tharn so badly. And yeah Tar isn't my favorite character but... you tried to sell him... to a man who attempted to rape him...

Dude.

Justice for Tar!

I tried to stomach watching this short episode, but I can't fathom the audacity of the writers trying to make us pity Lhong, a character who hired 3 men to gang-rape a 10th grader, who lied and manipulated many of Tharn's raltionships, who blackmailed said 10th grader into sabotaging Tharn's relationship with Type, and who tried to kill Type.

I don't care how lonely you are, or how unloved you feel like you are, that doesn't excuse anything he's done. He doesn't need redemption, he needs to be in jail.

I see a lot of people bashing at him for how aweful he is and what everything wrong he did. I understand. But let's look at it from the character's side, Lhong's side.

Imagine growing up since being little as about five years alone. Your parents wouldn't care what happens to you, your siblings couldn't care even less. Imagine being bullied because of what and who you are. And imagine no one teaching you what is wrong and what is wrong. No one ever told you that you shouldn't lie to others, no one telling you that hurting others for your own good isn't right. Now, do you still think there was any other and better way for Lhong to deal with what's happening between him and Tharn? Of course, this doesn't justify everything he did, nothing of it all, but really, how would he know? It's easy to blame, but you have to see the reasons behind it all before judging.
So really, this doesn't make him any less evil character, but neither less lovable. Don't just put blame on him.

And now to the actual review.

I can't stress enough how Kaownah portrayed Lhong's character well. He made everone feel what he felt. He made everyone see the reasons behind his actions, made everyone see his pain. I can't appreciate it enough in words, will never be able to, but what he did what an amazing, breathtaking and just excellent work. He put so much into it and deserves bigger recognition.

The story as in whole, together with TharnType the series, has an amazing dept into the story. It gives it more than just lovey-dovey series for fangirl (which it is anyways XD) and shoves reality to it. it's masterpiece, so big thanks to the author and the director. Both of them did a magnnificent work.

Everyone needs a damn psychiatrist.

How can an 18-minute long extra episode be better written and far more interesting than the entire first season?

I should start by saying that I'm a big fan of villains/antagonists in pretty much any type of media, so Lhong turned out to be a character I really enjoyed from a psychological perspective. I'm not a psychologist or anything of the sort, but I do enjoy reading and watching stories of the genre. If you ask me, I would've preferred to watch an hour long episode of him going through his personal life because I felt that the combination of depression, anger, and fear of abandonment that was showcased in this short episode was an excellent plot for him.

Many of you are very quick to judge this character and I see why, I mean, he has done absolutely terrible things, but he has also been led through a life of self-loathing and solitude, hating people because he thinks people hate him. Now listen to me: I DON'T support any of his actions due to the fact that they were simply WRONG, but it make sense why he did it when you think about it.

I am incredibly disappointed at the writers of this novel/drama because they turned something that had so much potential into a degenerated sexual assault and abusive relationships fanservice. It is absolutely AGGRAVATiNG how NONE of these character got ANY type of punishment for their actions. If this was me, I would have called the police on them bitches as soon as the first episode ended.

Please do not support these kind of stories. They do no good for the LGBTQ+ community.
Sincerely, a gay man who won't condone this type of behavior.

P.S.: Shoutout to the actor, though. He did an excellent job portraying his role as Lhong and I hope to see more of him in future dramas.

Why I'm Angry

I don't care what they try to do to excuse his behavior, what he did was wrong. Just wrong! Let's do a recap of a few things he did:
1. He paid people to gang rape a 15-year old
2. Emotionally abused Tharn
3. Nearly killed Type
ETC.
I cannot express my disappointment in the fact that the people in charge felt like he was justified and needed to explain himself. Like he did something petty. The fact that they wanted to beat this thing to death in the most horrible way is disgusting. Repeat after me...

Rape is never justifiable and it is wrong

Excusing the unexcusable

This episode, which relies heavily on flashbacks to preceding episodes of 'TharnType: The Series', does not merely attempt to provide context for Lhong's appalling behavior. It is essentially a bid to render Lhong sympathetic, and his horrible misdeeds, excusable.

It might be plausible for someone suffering from deep loneliness to over-invest in their bond with the one person who has been kind to them, as Lhong does with Tharn. To move from a less-than-healthy attachment to a good friend to the orchestration of a gang rape, blackmail, relationship sabotage, and attempted murder, however, should be too extreme a pivot to elicit pity. And yet eliciting pity is what this "special" tries to do, especially given how it unfolds toward the ending: Lhong's sister comes to learn of his psychological wounds and, completely unaware of the evils that he has done, asks him to forgive her and embraces him.

Kaownah Kittipat does what he can with the character, but Lhong is utterly beyond defense, and at no point do his victims get justice. Why this episode was made at all is beyond me.

Love or obsession?

In my opinion from watching this Lhongs character did not love Tharn instead he took his feelings of loneliness, need, and dependence turned obsession then jumbled it together to call it love. He had no one to tell him what is right or wrong what you should and shouldn't do he is still that little boy alone in his house listening to music while cuddling with his stuffed animal though as he grew older he became more twisted hence obsession to the MAX. I still do not like Lhongs character nothing excuses what he did. I do like Kaownah he is adorable and an amazing actor to portray such character that we end up despising.

Discursting shyit

Exactly the title. We didnt need a redemption arc for this excuse of a human. Oh you want me to feel sad because poor bby was neglected? TOO BAD. The original series was trashy but this extra episode just made it a grave. Nothing can redeem him. He doesnt deserve human rights. He needs jail bro. It really pisses me off to this day that he faces no repercussions. This is just a generally dangerous person and should be put away for the sake of societal safety. The slightest trigger is enough to set him off into hatching gang rape plans against minors I think HES FAWKED. He didnt even apologize. To the kid. Yeah he apologized to tharn who himself is a bit of a molestah but THAT AINT ENOUGH. He doesnt need to apologize though he needs jail. Electric chair.

I gave the acting a bit above the bare minimum because congratulations he did make me hate him so i guess the job was done well.

Skip it, do not loose your time with this

This Special drama is totally dispensable: it is made of a lot of reused clips from the main series. You will learn nothing more: there is overall one new scene that could have been easily integrated into the TharnType drama itself.

I do not understand the decision to have one SP episode dedicated to Lhong. It could have been interesting if the story has deepened his motivations or at least shown us an interesting storyline. Unfortunately, it is just a pity party for an unlikable protagonist: I cannot phantom why the writer thought it would be a good narrative choice to try to make us care for this specific character.

I would not recommend this to people, even though it is quite short (about 15 minutes), it is really not worth loosing your time.

Lhong does NOT deserve a redemption arc

I feel like the line above should be enough to explain why this special deserves one star. Actually, I would go into negatives if I could.

What Lhong did to Tar is not excusable. There is not a single bad thing that could have happened to him in the past that would make me think that his actions can be explained. He is evil. That’s it. Giving us a sob story about his past does not change the fact that he not only completely ruined the life of a teenage boy, but also continued to blackmail and manipulate the said boy. Let’t not forget him ruining his friend’s happiness again and again. And trying to kill the said friend’s boyfriend. Yeah, yeah, he hesitated. Does not mean he is a good person.

I am honestly so pissed that someone (aka MAME) had the audacity to think that he deserves a second chance. Or that the viewers would care about his sob story. No. The only thing we care about and are still upset about is the fact that he walked free. There were absolutely no real consequences for his actions. Sure, he lost a friend. Boo-hoo, go cry in the corner. What he should have gotten is either a life in prison or in some sort of mental hospital.

I do have to give it to the actor though. He is really good at switching the emotions in his scenes. And I do think he did a good job portraying Lhong. It does take talent to make you hate someone as much as we all hate Lhong.

where is justice?

okay, Lhong is dealing with issues and all that but does that excuse what he did? it doesnt change the fact that he is a criminal and i dont like how criminals in those shows get away with their crimes and you even see them trying to justify those crimes, how do you justify rape and attempt of murder too?
he sent people to rape tar and he also tried to kill type and somehow he is not in jail? what is that bs? whats his punishment? that he is no longer a friend of tharn? how is that justice? people break up and friendships get broken frequently thats life but thats not justice for rape , and you even see tharn's bro in s1 forgiving him and saying that he has been harsh on himself and i was like what? if someone played with your sibling that way and made their life like hell you forgive them and forget the fact that he sent people to rape someone else too? so much unrealistic things happening and the one who made the show focused on making lhong look like a victim, you are no longer a victim when you commit such crimes. its rather frustrating you see tar struggling ,being haunted by what was done to him yet he dont get the justice that he deserves

Dispensable
