La Gloria (2022)

DRAMA QUE TODOS DEBERIAN VER!!

Bueno que decir, este drama ya lo termine hace algunos días, exactamente hace 3 días, pero recién tengo el tiempo de poder hacer su reseña, siendo sincera, no tenia muchas expectativas de este drama, la verdad no me llamaba la atención, y eso que los actores me gustan mucho, pero simplemente, no me apotecia de verlo, pero que gran sorpresa me lleve cuando empecé el primer capitulo, fue un sin fin de emociones, como el odio, la tristeza, cuando los bullies, agredían a la protagonista me daban ganas de meterme a la serie, y defenderla, de verdad que grandes actuaciones por parte de todo el elenco, me gustaron ambos papeles de edades, tanto de jóvenes como de adultos, pero mi favorito por así decirlo, fueron cuando eran adolescentes, ya que creo que cuando hay maltrato en colegio, se siente mas realista, y de verdad que le agarre odio a todos los bullies, la escena en donde le queman, fue muy difícil de ver, porque el dolor que sentía se vio tan real, y pensaba de que la agresión iba a ser mas moderada, pero no ,fue todo lo contrario, eran demasiados crueles con todas sus acciones.

Ahora si quiero hablar acerca de la trama, al comienzo pensé q me iba a aburrir, pero no fue así, yo si quería ver como la prota se va vengando de todos, quería que sufrieran, absolutamente todos, ahora vámonos al único buen personaje hombre y es nuestro estudiante de medicina, que hombre para mas lindo, él siempre estuvo para nuestra prota, la quería mucho desde el primer encuentro, como se preocupaba por ella, y si tal ves, pudo a ver sido porque iba a ser medico, pero después, si se ve el interés, aunque me hubiera gustado mucho que le den mas tiempo en pantalla, era el único buen personaje masculino, y no el esposo no cuenta, perdón pero ese tipo no me cae, pero bueno, en si todo el drama estuvo bueno, y el hecho de que no solo la trama de la venganza sea lo único importante, sino también hay otros temas interesantes, como el hecho de que el tipo que no puede distinguir los colores, este pagando su karma en su hija, eso me gusto mucho, y espero en que la 2 temporada o parte, ese tipo sufra mucho, y su hija no lo acepte, cuando se entere todo lo que hizo en su pasado.

Hablemos un poco acerca del personaje, que sin ella, la prota no hubiera logrado todos sus objetivos, o al menos la mayoría, y ella la señora que es victima de abuso por parte de su esposo, que personaje para más divertido, siempre cuando estaba enojada por los bullies, ella me hacia sacar un sonrisa con todas sus ocurrencias, ella se convirtió en una de las personas mas importantes de nuestra prota, y a pesar de ella no le demuestra cariño, ella la quiere mucho con sus acciones, como el hecho de que le da miedo que ella se ponga en peligro, me gusta mucho su relación es como madre e hija.
Bueno ahora si creo que ya termino, solo espero que la 2 parte sea igual de buena que esta, hasta marzo tengo que esperar, para ver que sigue, y espero que nuestra prota logre todos sus objetivos, y que se quede con el chico doctor, porque se lo merece, ella merece ser feliz por fin, y se con la ayuda del chico todo será un poco mas fácil, y espero que no se muera ningún buen personaje, porque sino denuncio a netflix JAJA.

YO TAMBIÉN QUIERO PARTICIPAR DEL PLAN

Empecé el drama sin saber demasiado, aunque creyendo que iba a ser una venganza en el plano legal así que me llevé una emocionante sorpresa al ver una historia cargada de sed de venganza del tipo más telenovelesco. Las actuaciones son impecables y creo que le ganan (por muy poco) a la trama general, logran llevar la historia a un nivel de realismo que pone los pelos de punta. El ritmo lento en otro drama podría ser algo desesperante pero en The Glory es un recurso inquietante que me llena de impotencia y me hace empatizar aún más con la protagonista y su sed de venganza.

Esperando ansiosa la segunda parte que espero que sí logre superar a esta primera entrega.

lo mas importante es la fuerza de seguir a delante con su venganza.

Es una drama de mucho misterio, como demuestra que todos guardan un poco de malicia y como en la violencia escolar deja marcas grabes en la persona y las victimas no lo superan y aprenden a vivir con ello; y quien no hace nada para ayudar esta situacion es igual de culpable que los demas.
Se sabe que este es un problema latente en Corea y que lo tomen desde un punto tan frio es genial.
La protagonista tiene sus ideas clara y no piensa que nadie le cambie su decision, sabe mover las piesas de manera clave para que todo resulte como quieres.
La antagonista es fria al punto que llegas a temer sus acciones en todo momento sabe tener el poder y usarlo como gusta.

Por fin terminé y puedo venir a hablaros sobre el nuevo fenómeno de K-dramas en Netflix: The Glory!
La verdad es que comencé a ver la serie sin mucha expectativa pero decir que me ha encantado...se queda corto. Una vez que la comencé, no pude parar y utilizaba cualquier momento que tenía para seguir viéndola porque me tenía realmente enganchada.
Es cierto que la historia no es una historia fácil de ver y que puede impactar a los espectadores, por lo que deberían de informarse antes de decidir verla. La trama habla sobre el bullying así como sobre otros actos delictivos. Sin embargo, ver cómo la victima se centra en buscar venganza es algo que me ha parecido muy novedoso.
En cuestión a los personajes, quizás este sea el motivo por el que no le he puesto un 10 a la serie. Me gusta mucho que los personajes no sean blancos ni negros, sino que son grises aunque a pesar de eso se deja claro quienes son los "buenos" y quienes los "malos". Pero este tipo de personajes hacen que no me sienta identificada con ninguno y es el único motivo por el que no he calificado a la serie con un 10.
En cuanto a la facilidad de ver la historia, a pesar de ser una historia de venganza a través del tiempo y con varios escenarios, no es difícil seguir el hilo argumentativo, aunque si tuve algunos problemas al principio para situar el escenario en el tiempo, ya que realizan varios saltos temporales.
Es una serie que recomiendo mucho siempre y cuando no te impresiones fácilmente y te hayas informado antes sobre los temas que toca. También recomiendo ver el vídeo de youtube de @liryonni para conocer todos los detalles que no entendiste de The Glory

Buenísimo

Este drama es muy bueno; te hace sentir tanto... hasta el punto de querer entrar en la historia para defender o hacer algo por los protagonistas.
Me encantó que aunque la mayor parte del tiempo me hizo sentir enojada y tensa por las situaciones, también pude reírme y sentir mariposas en el estómago.
Le hubiera puesto una calificación de 10/10 , solo que el OST no me gustó mucho la verdad.
Eso sí , mi canción favorita de este drama es "You Remember" de Paul Kim , cada vez que la escucho me saca unas lágrimas.
Hay una parte de esta canción qué en especial me gustó y va de la mano con lo que ví en la relación de los protagonistas en él drama "Espero que seas muy feliz y en cambio, desearía ser infeliz en tu lugar".

Espero que cuando veas este drama te llegué a gustar tanto como a mí.

La venganza más satisfactoria, por las víctimas y ayudada por los villanos

Solo porque existe la segunda temporada que es en la que se logra la venganza, deberías de ver esta primera parte que también es buena y por tanto, prepara el escenario para que la continuación se vuelva más profunda y explote. Y sientas lo bueno que fue haberlo visto desde un principio hasta el final.

La historia no necesita muchos episodios para introducir cuál fue el acoso que vivió la protagonista y cuáles son sus objetivos en la venganza, pero tampoco se siente apresurada. Se muestra como pasa a ser su razón de vida verlos infelices y es interesante, como cada uno de los acosadores tiene una debilidad visible por la que jalar. Todos están jodidos. Como son 5 pero entre ellos mismos se echan mierda, al unos no ser tan ricos como los otros o directamente, ser uno la sombra de otro. Por eso, cuando Dungeon se va haciendo más visible y empieza a hacer contacto con uno de ellos, no hay esa fidelidad, sino egoístamente el contactado elige traicionar al grupo por su bienestar y el dinero que se pueda ganar. Es muy interesante como esto se repite mucho. Los villanos se encargan de hundirse aún más, al no parar de intentar salvar su propio pellejo.
También, hay muchas cosas que no esperarías que sucediesen por las cuales esto se complica más.

Otra cuestión por la que la recomiendo, en medidas generales, es que las victimas son lo contrario, se apoyan a sí mismas. Es hermoso como, se muestra gente que también sufrió un gran trauma en el pasado o presente pero encuentra esa razón para seguir viviendo, como Dungeun, y por eso la apoyan Dungeun porque se siente que se hace lo correcto. Que ser bueno siempre, a veces solo asegura perder. También que hay víctimas que aún conservan cálidez, y no son solo grises, eso hace que te encariñes mucho con ellas.

También, tiene características como objetos que la hacen diferente, como el juego de go y los tacones verdes, es atractivo como dos cosas tan simples como esas marquen tanto una serie por lo simbólicas que fueron. Y no tiene sentido aclarar, pero las actuaciones son excelentes y debido a que el estrés se hace mayor en la segunda temporada, se muestra aún más la habilidad y el dolor que puede transmitir cada uno de los personajes. Es muy pro.
La única razón de que la música sea un 6 es que no le puse mucha atención pero ambienta bien.

El final de esta segunda temporada, dejo el suficiente misterio por empezar de inmediato la segunda que sería lo máximo.

Magnífica

Pufff no sé por dónde empezar. Quizás por el final.

Tras 18 años de larga espera llega el momento deseado.

Cada una de las historias personales quedan finiquitadas de una manera magistral. Algunas completamente inesperadas, eso sí. Pero muy acorde con los caracteres de los personajes.

Una venganza cocinada a fuego lento.

Drama cien por cien recomendable, si no buscas el clásico romance y sí acción y suspense.

En cuanto a estos ocho últimos capítulos, he de decir que me costó entrar de nuevo en la serie. Esto se puede deber al parón, intencionado, por parte de los señores de Netflix. Cosa que no llego a entender. Pero retomando el hilo, una vez que te enganchas nuevamente ya no hay respiro hasta el desenlace. Capítulo tras capítulo ves cómo la trama va in crescendo.
La elección por parte del encargado de casting para la serie, me parece fantástico, desde la hierática e inmutable Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye-kyo) hasta la entrañable Kang Hyun Nam (Yeom Hye-ran) pasando por el maravilloso Joo Yeo-jeong (Lee Do Hyun). Todos y cada uno de los actores son magníficos.

Y, para ir terminado esta reseña, no podía dejar pasar la noticia relacionada con el director Anh Gil Ho, quien, para echar más leña al fuego, ha sido denunciado por unos antiguos compañeros de colegio debido a un caso de acoso escolar en el que él mismo está involucrado y del que ha pedido perdón.

¡Qué más le falta a este drama! ¿Una buena OST?

Gripping, intense, a success all round

"The Glory" comes with a drum roll at the turn of the year 2022/23. With a high-end production team in every instance, "The Glory" cleverly intertwines the burning subject of bullying with the long-running topic ´revenge campaign´. The result is gripping, intense, a success all round. (However, one major criticism: Netflix cuts the story in half with a long break in between.)

In 2022, for the sad issue of bullying, streaming services cleared the stage several times with their own productions (e.g. "Weak Hero Class 1" and "Revenge of Others"). All of these stories are unbelievable in their brutality and cruelty - teenagers against teenagers! No mercy. Without pity. Without scruples. Without any feeling of guilt. For once, I don't want to blame the streaming providers for the shown cruelty, on the contrary. Maybe the topic is in better hands with them because they have no problem with such radical scenes (compared to TV stations). Isn´t it simply scandalous that such unbelievable violent abuse - and may it be only half as drastic - is part of everyday life in (i.e. South Korean) schools and among young people? Even more scandalous: parents and teachers tolerate it or actively support it and even act up themselves.

"The Glory" swings back and forth between past and present and thus draws a complex picture of the individual characters. Back then the perpetrators, they are becoming victims today. Back then the victim, she finally wants to get out of her role and also make life hell for her abusers. The painful past provides the moral framework, allowing the audience to nod off the plans for vigilantism. Eventually, the protagonist also gains helpers on her way.

Sad enough, in "The Glory" no one is truly happy with their life except for the perpetrator's (still) innocent little daughter.
The bullies of that time live bored and/or stoned and still trapped in their bullying role. Still tangled up in their clique from back then in uneasy ties. None of them found ´true´ friends. Trust and love are words without substance in their life, which rather appears as a shiny variation of Hell disguised with silk and glamourous accessories.
The victim of that time, on the other hand, has found meaning, direction and grounding in her life, no matter how sad the circumstances. Coincidentally, she even made trustworthy friends. Since she has experienced firsthand what hell is like, she can at least distinguish it, as other experiences of brief moments of happiness are also indicated in between. This experience (how happiness actually feels compared to suffering) puts her ahead of her opponents, who aren't even aware that they're living in a hell of emotional emptiness. They only suspect it when Moon-Dong-eun threatens to shake their house of cards and they have to face the illusions of their self-satisfied lives.

The story isn´t completely told yet - after 8 episodes. We will see, how things actually turn out for Moon Dong-eun, as she is indeed messing with someone, who is not willing to give in, whatsoever...

Well. Second season is definitely on the revenge-side. Some may say revenge is sweet. In any case it is drastic. And "the Glory" made sure, the mean-spirited deserved it... Among them is so much violence and exorbitant abuse. Almost too much to bear at times. A bit overdone maybe with unnecessary Netflix ruction here and there. Nevertheless suspenseful. Certainly with a coherent ending.

SIDE NOTE: ---- Fiction and reality are not that far apart ---

Some might say that the bullying brutality in "The Glory" - such as the curling wand scene - was exaggerated.
In fact, in South Korea in 2006, there was just such a case.

At a middle school in Cheongju, a student was bullied for money by three classmates. For not delivering, she was beaten with a baseball bat, tormented with a barrette, kicked, hit with fists, and burned on her arms with a hot curling wand. The burns didn't even have time to heal because the girls checked the temperature of the curling iron on the victim's arms again and again every few days. On the contrary, healing blisters were specifically removed by the bullies with their fingernails. The brutal beating also resulted in an injury to the tailbone, which resulted in a six-week hospital stay.

In fact, in this actual case in Cheongju, the perpetrators were apparently officially punished after the victim, despite threats, reported the perpetrators by name. And not only the perpetrators, but also the school administration and teachers were apparently sort of admonished. (However, with that the police report ends. We do not know how the victim, the perpetrators and the school dealt with each other afterwards).

For revenge I sold my soul to the Demon

Song Hye Kyo is back. And she brought a wrath and Lucifer with her this time along. I personally hated her last drama 'Now we are breaking up'. But this time she has compensated for that miserable drama and made me fall in love with her again.
As one can guess from the synopsis, that this drama revolves around Song Hye Kyo's character's revenge towards those that made her life more miserable than hell. After waiting 18 years for the perfect timing to take her revenge. Nothing can budge her from her goal Im Ji Yeon (and others). She will use every card for her advantage.
Song Hye Kyo just stole the show here. One could feel the pain she felt and the anger that was hiding behind that beautiful face of her's.
A special shoutout to Jung Ji So and Shin Ye Eun's acting. Man they were too good in their display of emotions. And ofcourse Im Ji Yeon and other cast were just pinpoint perfect in there portrayal of their character.
The storyline and the production were also great. Loved each and every second of the show. And it kept me tied to my seat. I binge watched the drama in a sitting. This season had me waiting for the second season already.

I don’t need a prince to save me, I need an executioner to join the hunt.

Delicious, compelling, manic, obsessive, infuriating and sensual- this drama gives you all the thrill and more. This is Song Hye Ko like you’ve never seen her before.

Yes, her robotic frozen in time acting is still there but this time it suits the role. Gone is the fluffy Mary Sue rom com female lead she always plays and in its place is a revenge driven, blood thirsty anti-heroine who’s taking no prisoners. I think she did a pretty solid job here- equal parts graceful with just enough madness to make her the right kinda crazy.

Throughout the drama, she has this internal monologue going on where she talks so very affectionately with her worst enemy as if it were a dear friend. Her voice is a mix between poetry and a pretty song if they contained thinly veiled promises of retribution and vengeance.

The acting over all is pretty smooth aside from Lee Do Hyun who is just one of those trendy actors that are cast cause of their looks/hype and nothing more. He is a glorified support role so his lack of talent stings less.

The antagonists are an absolute delight to watch. They are gorgeous on the outside and plain rot on the inside and the actors have done a great job showcasing that.

The bullying is visceral and the heroine’s revenge is 100% believable. You want every single one of these muffuckers to pay with their lives.

The best thing is that the drama doesn’t shy away from gore, sex and profanity which gives it the maturity and darkness that it needs to be convincing, all the while balancing it with a blooming sismance that warms the soul.

Beautifully shot, with incredible OST and an excellent take on your typical revenge story, “The Glory” is equal parts compelling and binge able.

Oh and we have a hot daddy in the house as well. I have one solid ship and I’ll sink with it if I have to. ⛴⛴⛴

Overall, it’s definitely Jeana approved.

Good idea, boring execution

To be honest, I was bored. So the question I’m asking myself is, why?

Well, this is a thriller, but there were precious little thrills for most of it. I did think that the idea behind the plot was good—triggering self-destruct mechanisms, light the fuse and then step back. It offers great opportunities for building tension but I don’t think that the overall production capitalised on the potential.

The pace was a constant plod. It needed some speed variations, some light and shade, some better twists and turns and a great deal more tension. This is really a problem across the board from the writer, through the director to the editing suite. The only thing that had any zing was the cinematography, which was beautifully realised.

The characters, including the protagonist, were universally unlikeable. Song Hye Kyo had a stone-face throughout and I was not impressed by her performance. The main problem for me was that the characters were not presented in any depth and for the most part had one mode of operation. For a plot built on the premise of self-destruction, the characters have to be much more carefully realised. Also, with so many antagonists, their inter-relationships did not have enough time to develop to the point where I was engaged. Maybe if Lee Sa Ra and even Son Myeong Oh were omitted that would have made room for more character breadth and detailed interactions.

As it was, I was totally unmoved by any of them and fairly disinterested in what happened to them. The most interesting character for me was Ha Do Young, played by Jung Sung Il, who brought more subtlety to the realisation of his part than any of the others. So when you’ve got nothing much going on in the plot and you don’t feel any interest or attachment to any of the characters, what is there to keep your attention?

One thing that always hacks me off is when the psychology is wrong and it is here. Dong Eun can be triggered into horrendous flashbacks which completely cripple her, but shows no hesitation in confronting and challenging her torturers face to face in isolated places without a tremor or a drop sweat breaking out. This type of dichotomy is simply not credible. Her character relies on words for her safety, but it is emotions that provoke damage and they are much quicker off the mark. So her interactions with the emotion driven antagonists are undermined. It is even more unbelievable because no explanation is offered regarding any of the psychological processes that turned her from fearful victim to controlled aggressor.

What my rating means: 6+ Some aspects of it were OK but it had serious flaws. It will pass the time but you can find something better.
