As a person who is also austistic, I find this show nothing but inspiring to me, even though mines not as bad as Si On's i still empasised with him alot and understood his hardships to its full extent.

When I first found out that the ML is someone suffering from austism it sparked my intrest as I also have it. The story of a autistic boy who lost his older brother to then go on to become a doctor is nothing more than inspirational. The first episode was done very well as it got my intrest in the forst 5 mins and then showing off the skills of Si On at the train station put the drama in a very good place at the get go to become a great drama.

I want to talk about Si On's character first. The actor Joo Won did absolutely amazing dipicting and austistic man. I know for a fact he must of spent a lot of time being with and watching people who suffer from autism becasue for him to display it the way he did he must of cared deeply about the character and not of done a half assed job so I want to thank him on that end for being sincere with the character. When we first get introduced to Si On, we see him in a flashback getting bullied for being different which tore my heart but throughoutu the drama he matured into a fine doctor which is able to look after children to save to thier lives. One thing I loved about him was the enormous heart his had, he is literally the kindest Lead I have seen in a kdrama.

With Yoon Soo, I was very exited for her character because I just got off watching 'Innocent Man' which starred Chae Won as the FL in that drama. From the get go I loved how supportive he was of Si On and how she helped him throughout the drama. Normally in dramas, both leads might have a problem with thier lives but in this one Yoon Soo didn't, so all her time in the drama was either in the hospital or helping Si On with his life. One thing which quite annoyed me was when she rejected Si On in a very passive manner saying they are like brother and sister and then wanted to stay as friends which was a bit selfish but I understood her. She then got jelous of Si On's friend ship with Chae Gyeong which gave her the push she needed to realise her feelings.

With the romance between Si On and Yoon Soo, it was well done becasue in other dramas, they usually kiss alot and act all affectionate with eachother but in this the story had to consider Si On's disabilty and how he can't express his feelings well to other people which I fully understand. So having them only kiss once and hold hands a lot was the right choice in this. This was a very slow burner relationship which I had no problems watching becasue they needed to jumped a lot of hurdles to reach a relationship and it was displayed perfectly.

The two supporting leads in this show are probably my favourite i've seen in a drama. First off with Do Han, at first he was obnoxius due to him pushing Si On down all the time but when I founf out the reason why, it made me understand fully becasue he had a younger brother who was disabled who died after he believed he was okay to be independant and that led to his death, so Do Han was only worried about Si On. I loved how they ended having a brotherly relationship in the end which in some ways they are both taking the place of thier brothers. I really like Chae Gyeong as she was also supportive of Si On and didn't have a bias by listeing to his problems and helping him.

Another character I liked was In Hae, I like how she acted as a friend to Si On and a mediator to Si On's and Yoon Soo's relationship. She was also a very strong character who had to face a lot of problems but overcame them with the help of some characters.

The OST in this show was standard and not many really stood out but they did the job.

If your looking for a show which is very different than the normal kdrama, I really reccomend this. It has a very rewarding slow burner relationship and also has the medical aspect which is realy interesting to watch aswell.

I overall enjoyed this series (focusing on the human side mostly, affecting the main character, his colleagues as well as the patients in each episode, rather than mostly the clinical side).

I also thought it is a good idea to put a person who is autistic in the centre of the story. There were however some aspects that were a little too stereotyped for my taste, such as the extreme savant story. On the other hand the struggle in the world of work was quite realistic, at least in terms of the concept/idea.

Medically, some things were a bit cringe-worthy (it’s my job) though they always seem to do that in tv series with a medical / hospital background ;) ;) and I’ve seen worse depictions in tv series!! Maybe I’ll become a medical advisor for tv shows and films in my next life :-)
But then it’s not a documentary - so again, overall, I enjoyed this show!

I watched it a while ago now so not remembering all the details of the story line. I might rewatch it at some stage.

Best medical drama ever!!!!!

Good Doctor clearly explains discrimination and lack of trust faced by the disabled people, and "how hard they should work for the acceptance". Coming to the series, every episode is unique and you'll not be bored, comedy is off the charts and boy!!! the emotional scenes will make you cry, no matter how many times you watch it. Si on innocence and child like personality will be completely transformed into loving and caring man. Yoon Seo has her own character development, she was not merely there to help shi on, but she also faces difficulties in her professional life. The triangle love story was just forced between Yoon seo, Dr kim do han and shi on and was unnecessary, it is more like waste of the time. There could have been more romantic scenes between shi on and yoon seo, but the one showed in the series is quite convincing, bromance may make up for it. They romance doesn't start till the end of 18 episode and it was rushed, there should have been more episodes, it's a 24 episodes series. But that's what life is 'All the good things must come to an end'. Joo won and Moon chae won chemistry is so good that I want them to be partners in real life. Hopefully, it might come true or at least a new dramas series. In the end of the series everyone is changed into good person and becomes more accepting of Si on, because of his charm. The way si on matures at the end of the series is so adorable and at the end he is the one 'who becomes more understanding and mature in the relationship'. Definitely a must watch series and best medical drama at all time. (Shing shing!!!)

I have to say I'm really disappointed by this drama so far. I have only seen 4 episodes and at first I was so happy because my younger brother has autism and I got a feeling from the plot that it would show people how autistic people can live a normal life while dealing with their autism and showing off their great capabilities. But this drama unfortunately does not do that and portrays autism in a very negative light. I really dislike that the other doctors seem to bully the main character because of his autism(which seems stupid because they are not in a school playground but a hospital) but also because it seems because of his autism he can't do anything for himself and is deemed incapable of ever becoming a good doctor. It is really uncomfortable for me that this is the writers opinion of autism. Don't get me wrong I'm willing to give it a chance and I hope that soon he will be treated as an individual and a human being rather than a child. Lastly I just want to say I actually do like the actors and actresses I just find the plot of the show now very demeaning of autistic people and I kind of think that in the year of 2013 people are better than that and know people with disabilities are not stupid but just as capable as us in whatever they do!

THIS IS SO GOOD! OMG AMAZING AMAZING! The cast is perfect and the acting is just superb. I love Joo Won even more now. He is just so good at acting it leaves me speechless. This is unlike any other kdrama but it will break your heart with all the bullying and evil plotting. I seriously want to punch somebody when people do mean thing to Si On (Joo Won). Moon Chae Won is also amazing as always. They make a perfect couple and I will ship this to the end.

Only the first episode has aired but already you can tell it will be a drama that will not leave us disappointed. The concept of the drama is new and refreshing. The main character played by Joo Won, a doctor with Savant's Syndrome, was beautifully written. I give mad applause to Joo Won for his acting, I will definitely be looking forward to what this show will offer in the future.

The cast looks pretty promising with many well known actors so there is no question of whether their acting will be able to hold up to the story line. And the story line...all I can say is grab those kleenex because between the laughing and intense medical scenes, there will be tears..a lots of them! Although you feel a strong need to pity Park Shi On, you can't help but feel like he will be able to withstand the sandstorm that is headed his way. I'm already emotionally invested in the story line and I have no doubt that anyone who watches it will also.

I have been looking forward to this drama and I was not disappointed in the first episode. This is fantastic! Joo Won is definately proven that he is more than a pretty face. I am a Korean drama fan but also a Developmental Disabilities professional. the writers, director, and Joo Won did a spot-on portrayal of an autistic savant.

Regarding the story, I love the back story given about Shi On and his brother. I am so happy to see Chun Ho Jin playing the teacher/mentor who risks his position as an advocate for Shi On. I am also looking forward to Moon Chae Won's Yoon Suh (she has already created a interesting character in the first episode) and I can't wait to see what kind of character Ko Chang Seok creates. I can't wait for more episodes!!

I really recommend to watch this drama, then watch US remake of same title. Both are so good!

I watched ‘My Sassy Girl’ and I liked ML. Then I found out he played ‘Good doctor’. I really enjoyed this drama. I am also watching American remake of ‘Good doctor’ and I kind of like US remake little better. But it is still wonderful human drama. I found out there are surgeons and doctors who are just like ML, the only issue these doctors will face is bedside manner. It says for medical doctor with autism is challenging to deal with patient in person. So it is said surgeon is better because less interaction with patients. That’s why this drama is very realistic. It’s very small numbers of doctors who has such autism may exist but I read some articles that some of them are remarkable doctors.

I noticed there are always bullied and/or mean people in K-drama. I don’t know if that is how their society are or they set up such characters so that audience will become more sympathetic to main character. It was really hurtful to watch when other educated doctors are really mean to him. In US, people are generally very kind to challenged people like person with autism and handy caps. That’s one of the reason why I couldn’t give perfect 10 And I like US remake little better. People around ‘Good Dr’ are kind to him in remake. I wish meanness in this drama were less. Then I would have given perfect 10.

Drama with great pacing and execution plus life lessons learned

Ah! Good Doctor! I'm not really a fan of medical dramas but I decided to watch this one as I like both Moon Chae Won and Joo Won and I did not regret my decision to watch it as it's a really good heartwarming drama.
There are many things that makes this drama great. One is that the pacing and the execution of the drama is perfect, and kudos to the writers. The characters are very well developed too, you have likeable characters and most of the "villains" of this show are also given a good side in this drama (some of them even developed to become good characters). Many heart-warming life lessons as the doctor characters heal and overcome the difficulties their patients face. Among the many characters here, the main character of the autistic servant Park Si On is very important to the developments of many characters plus the life lessons provided in this drama. Let's not forget the acting, for me everyone did amazing. Joo Won as the autistic doctor Park Si On, Moon Chae Won as Park Si On's fellow doctor/future lover Cha Yun Seo, Joo Sang Wook as Kim Do Han, even young Kim Hyun Soo as In Hae did great. I have to give a shout out to Yoo Hae Jung as patient Eun-Ok, she was so amazing especially when her character seems very wild at first.
There's really nothing I can fault with this drama. The only thing though with this drama is I felt that career-wise, Moon Chae Won should not have chosen this drama especially after the successes of The Princess's Man, War of the Arrows, and Innocent Man during the two years before she did this drama. Don't get me wrong, Cha Yun Seo is a great character and I love how understanding and helpful she is of Joo Won's character. It's just that I feel the character doesn't give her the chance to show more of her acting skills unlike the previous works mentioned and I feel like she should have chosen a more female centric role. I have no choice but to respect her script decision though and despite what I said earlier about her character and the acting she had to show for this drama, the drama did show a different side to her acting (this character is more light and warm-hearted then the previous works mentioned). Plus I'm still glad she has a drama like this in her filmography.
Attesting to the greatness of this drama is how this won best drama in 2014 Baeksang and even got a US remake that now has many seasons. So what are you waiting for, watch Good Doctor now!

A very heartwarming drama with a very unique take with mental health involved. Our two main leads, Joo Woon and Moon Chae Won, had such a nice supporting relationship. As expected, it won't be the type where there's much skin ship, but the moments they were on the screen were very tingly. Joo Won is an outstanding actor. He does such a great job acting as an autistic man. Not gonna lie, his character was so adorable throughout the entire series. Surprisingly, I focused much more on the romance, friendship, and hospital politics more so than the medical aspect of this show. There was some SERIOUS character development for almost everyone in the show.

Emotionally satisfying

I'm surprised that this turned out to be one of the most enjoyable K-dramas I've ever watched. I haven't had much luck with medical dramas in the past, and I've dropped way more of them than I've finished. Usually, their repetitive medical emergencies and life-or-death surgeries in which doctors miraculously save patients from the brink of disaster happening every episode again and again just bores me and strains my credulity. That was even true to a certain extent with this show, but I felt like there were fewer sensationalized medical emergencies than in most such shows. It had a little slower pace that let you get to know the patients and other characters better and become emotionally invested with them. And the medical situations seemed slightly more realistic than in most medical dramas.

Another good thing about this show is that Joo Won's acting got me interested in the character right from the beginning and involved me deeply in the story. Unfortunately, you have to put up with lots of painful scenes in the early episodes of horrible abuse and discrimination towards the Shi-on character from most of the people around him. Even several of the characters who end up redeeming themselves later in the show start out treating Shi-on terribly. Do-han was one of the worst offenders in the beginning. So much so that I almost can't forgive him even after he changes his attitude. Thankfully, all these hardships made Shi-on's triumphs later on in the show more satisfying. It was truly moving to see this good-hearted, talented guy finally get the rewards that he deserves.

Chae-won was really great too, playing one of the few characters who was on Shi-on's side from the beginning. The show did a nice job portraying their realistically sibling-like relationship, but then when their relationship suddenly shifted into the next gear, it didn't feel quite as believable. That part could have been handled a little more skillfully, but it was still satisfying to see the romance actually develop, because I wasn't sure this was going to happen.

I wish they had skipped all the tiresome and familiar hospital politics stuff, which contributed nothing to the show. I don't understand why just about every show that focuses on a workplace has to waste so much time on corrupt politics and power struggles. Does anyone enjoy watching that stuff? Fortunately, that made up a smaller part of the plot, so it didn't detract from the overall experience too much. I would have also cut out the equally cliched dad from hell stuff, which I thought was not only unpleasant to watch but unsatisfyingly resolved.

Finally, I can't help but compare this show to Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which I saw before I watched Good Doctor. Woo was more skillfully made in just about every way, and the legal cases in that show were more interesting than the medical cases in Good Doctor. Woo also clearly had a bigger budget and a more recent sensibility that made the earlier show really feel like it was 10 years older. And even though Joo Won did a great acting job, Eun-bin was even better. However, Good Doctor, despite its flaws and lower budget and more old-fashioned sensibility, was a little more emotionally involving and addictive than Woo. Woo is like an elegant sushi dinner, whereas Good Doctor is like a hearty Korean meal. So even though Woo is one of my favorite all-time K-dramas, Good Doctor is up there alongside it for me.
