Sweet Tai Chi is a drama which builds on most aspects pretty gradually; I wasn't hooked from Episode 1. My liking and interest grew gradually as the story moved further.

The actors are pretty good; their chemistry develops nicely and gradually; it's not straight up from the first. Bi Wen Jun does great as Wei Chu - I find his portrayal of the character nice and his micro expressions are nice to see, especially when he's smiling and then suddenly becomes serious. Sun Qian is a good female lead - I liked that her character as Feng Piao Piao was strong and she has good qualities; she doesn't whine, takes responsibility for things and stands up for herself. The leads together don't have extremely passionate moments, but their scenes are more like the comfort of home - it's warm and safe, rather than the burning fire and danger of a romance you'd expect in the romance genre.

The supporting characters, like Xiao Xiao and Bai Hai Yang are also nice. The scenes of the two leads with Piao Piao's grandfather are always great to watch as well.

When it comes to plot, I was a bit hesitant at first because the drama could go the wrong way if they resolved the whole issue of Piao Piao's grandfather 'stealing' the TaiChi techniques hastily - but now that I'm watching, the drama is giving adequate attention to the surrounding characters of the drama [Wei Chu's grandma and Piao Piao's grandfather, etc.], and also has given a pretty good background to the issue of the grandfather, which will probably be explained further and wrapped up as the main characters find out about it and get connected. It does have a basic plot that they build on.

Music-wise, its got some nice songs in there, and Bi Wen Jun sings one too. The leads together have good background songs in their scenes.

Direction-wise, I'm very happy, because they've used movie ratio and not full screen, which gives the drama a nice touch as they film scenes, especially the scenes where there are water bodies, nature, or calligraphy painting scenes . The leads practicing Tai Chi together has beautiful background music, and their movements are very well choreographed - they remind me of a very well-balanced, flowing-like-water dance routine [I am a dancer so I was overjoyed watching these scenes :P].

Overall, I'm pretty happy watching the drama - this is one of those dramas that you can both binge-watch or go 1 ep/day. You can also screenshot scenes for some nice desktop wallpapers if you want.
