One Missed Call is a movie everyone has probably at least heard of. For a horror movie fan it is almost like a staple, alongside The Ring and Grudge series. However, for me, it was not the best BUT it was more than okay. The story was original with a haunted phone, but it was another vengeful ghost story. What I really liked about the movie was the more mystery thriller tone rather than pure ghost driven themes - like with some movies i.e. The Grudge (Ju-On). I found myself a little surprised at times and even nervous at other moments. The acting was pretty good. Nothing seemed exaggerated or sub-par. I didn't really find any new favorites but I didn't hate any of the cast members. They filled their roles well and seemed to work together well; there were no awkward moments or insincere times that I could catch. As for music, it wasn't bad, but it was not stand out either. it seemed to be sort of your typical horror music to build suspense or draw attention to scenes. The sound effects fit well and nothing was distracting. I found it to be just "alright". This movie could be rewatched, but I probably won't rewatch it. This would be good for Japanese movie fans and horror fans - it would be good to watch and compare to the American counterpart. For anyone wondering about my score, I have also seen the American version and I like this version better but I"m not a huge fan of either one. I would say it is good to watch once, especially if you have nothing else to watch. That being said, I will finish the series just so I can say I have seen them all. I might like the others better.
