A realistic slice of life (well mostly)

The Heirs wasn't a simple love story. Well, in a way it was, where the rich guy fall for the poor beauty. Yet the show wasn't just that. It was the tragedy of the heirs. They all seemed to be bound by invisible ropes of their parents' weird hopes.

Young Do was tied to the hotel and always supposed to be that rude gangster kid thanks to his father's numerous love affairs and loss of his mother.
Hyo Shin tried to suicide, and was going for psychological therapy, and still asked to maintain his national rankings, not his dreams.
Rachel's life is pathetic. Her mom's remarriage, seeing her fiancé falling for another girl. No one can blame her for her vicious actions.
All the parents in the plot reflects what the future life of these kids might me; unless they take different paths. Their family lives are messes. They aren't happy at all. Just trying to earn more, and to shine over others.
The only kid I didn't feel sorry for, was Chang Young. Of course he wasn't an heir. It explains a lot.

The show was incredibly hilarious. Well balanced funny and emotional moments.
I only cried twice throughout the whole series. It was not for the moments where Tan and Eun Sung Were separated, reunited or wept for each other. I couldn't help but weep out loudly at the scene where Young Do running to get Tan, when his mom leaves home, along with that flashback scene of Tan doing the same. Definitely it was a scene of humanity. If one had the slightest bit of resentment towards Young Do, It simply evaporates.
Then it was Won, crying in his office staring at the broken wish bone. Doesn't it depicts the origin of another cold hearted businessman ? His heart was torn, no one could fix it. It is not very easy to filter kindness out of a broken heart , is it.
Here Tan stands as a rebel who fought and overcame those boundaries and got what he wanted. His love and his mom.

Yeah...it was a one beautiful, heart fluttering romance drama.. yet Carried that one huge realistic story. ABSOLUTELY loved it.

A simple plot, without huge tension, and slow paced romance.

After few times of hesitation, I finally watched Do You Like Brahms , and here I am perfectly satisfied. I loved the way it keenly deals with emotions. The peaks and breakdowns of the drama weren't incidents, but change of emotions. And yes. Nothing can be more realistic. When someone struggles with lack of talent, the other one face challenges of having a talent, which even led to see it as a curse. And the drama always dealt with 'friends to lovers' issue. Friendship growing into love is beautiful indeed. Yet at slightest mistake, it might crumble you forever. Things get awkward. Not to mention that unrequited love for your best friend is miserable. And this made me curious about the story of Clara, Schumann and Brahms.

If you are a viewer who loves a simple melodrama with a slow burn romance, I highly recommend Do You Like Brahms.
