MARAVILHOSO

A strong impact on audience

** Note : I've already watched them 2 or 3 weeks back . But , I'm just writing the review because I was pretty free and suprisingly not having house chores . **

As I finished Squid Game last weekend I saw that it was # 1 on Netflix. On my tiny little island of all places. Just a couple of years ago people scoffed at me when they found out I was watching kdramas. Squid Game is basically just a korean movie that has been extended to 9 episodes and in many ways I think it is a very typical gory and violent story that you often find in Korean movies. Something that has been slowly finding its way into Korean television in recent years, especially with shows produced by Netflix. And it is clear that a lot was put into this series from what it’s visuals, to the choice of actors and the budget etc.

As I said Squid Game was a bit of a typical story from this type of entertainment that you often find in movies from countries like Japan and Korea (like Battle Royal) and for me it was not that original with them and neither did they do something new with this type of narrative. Which may be why there was very little to the story that actually surprised me. even if I really enjoyed watching it. I found it a bit typical and it mainly just reminded me of other such stories that have come before it.

The violence is not for everyone. I can stomach quite a bit of it without it bothering me. I often think the violence in this type of stories goes a little too far but there is a purpose to it in some ways and the story puts a lot of pressure on your endurance as a spectator, because that is the purpose of it. It’s hard for the characters, it should be hard on you. You can hardly look away even if you want to and that is one of the traits of these types of stories. And in that Squid Game is very successful.

The story starts off with a bang, but after that is does take it’s time to find it’s footing but when it manages it toward the middle part the show becomes really binge-able, before taking a slight dip towards the end. The theme of the effects of late stage capitalism and it’s grip on our society and the situation that has created among us is very interesting and the story does a good job underlining that.

Really good amount of suspense going on there and some good character moments in between them, although I thought the story never really took full advantage of it’s characters as it spent more time on other aspects of the story. It was also a little too noticeable to me that this was written by a man based on how some of the characters were written and it bothered me a bit. I think the choice of actors, who are all great, made the character more interesting than they might be.

I felt the ending was a little too empty which slightly made the ride on this roller-coaster of a story slightly less thrilling. It didn’t leave that much behind. I felt I was missing some emotional payoff from the story. I felt like the personal journey was a bit lacking in the end so it didn’t stick the landing. And I didn’t feel like enough questions were answered in the narrative. It was as if the story was relaying little too much getting another series. And I appreciate kdrams for giving me complete stories in one season.

This is a nine-part gory Korean film. It really felt like it was made with that sort of target audience in mind; those who really enjoy this genre of Korean and Japanese films (as this is one of the most popular genres of Asian films in the west, which I sometimes find a bit sad but I also understand the appeal). It’s good gory entertainment and I can see why it is as popular as it is. It’s thrilling, violent and addictive while it’s going on but it didn’t leave me with much in the end except maybe blood and gore.

Messy, Messy, Messy

Frankly, it could’ve been even messier. Still disappointed they cut out the scene with Sand and a baseball bat from the teaser trailer lol
Anyway, I really like that GMMtv took on a queer centric drama directed by an accredited gay director. He clearly had a vision and you can see the influence of series like Queer as Folk and other media.

They delivered what you expect: a messy, somewhat toxic series about a group of LGBTQ+ young adults. It’s got solid acting, decent flow, and overall delivered an entertaining experience.

Acting is really solid. They pulled several of their heavy hitters for this. Khaotung was especially impressive as he managed to balance a flawed yet sympathetic character struggling with alcoholism. His scene in therapy was probably the most impactful of the show.

Since it’s a BL, I should discuss the relationships. Each relationship had a full arc and for the most part they felt fairly complete.
MewTop is probably most central to all the drama. I found them the least compelling and I honestly don’t think they are going to work out long term lol. They’re like rushing to move in together at the ending after the cheating debacle. I just don’t see Mew ever fully trusting Top again and I frankly don’t think he should lol.
SandRay are probably the healthiest and they communicate the most out of all the pairings. Their arc is primarily about working through their baggage and helping Ray toward sobriety. Sand is a bit of a desperate character when it comes to Ray, which I didn’t like much for their dynamic. Overall though, they seemed the most likely to work out.
BostonNick has caused the most discourse between fans of the show. For the most part, their relationship can be nailed down to two people wanting completely different things out of their relationship. I’m glad they did not end up together because it would not have worked out.
Boston is a polarizing character and personally I think he got the most screwed by the narrative in the end. He’s a promiscuous gay man who prefers casual sex over relationships. Should he have slept with his friend’s bf? No, that’s shitty and he deservedly lost his friend because of it. But then there was all this stuff about people having sex tapes of him without his consent and lying about him assaulting his friend’s brother. And it’s treated like that’s not a horrible thing to happen to him… like damn.
I did like his conversation at the end with Nick. Nick broke it off but he acknowledged it was just because he didn’t want to force Boston to be someone he wasn’t. And that Boston was fine as he was.

I’m honestly not sure how I’d feel about the show if I binge watched it. It was fun to just kind of tune in every week and not worry too much because all of the characters were going to be messy regardless lol.

Either way, it was fun and I would recommend.

" Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim " was better than I have expected.

Even though it was twenty episodes long, the pace was great adn it didn't get boring or tiring to watch. They handled the main story nicely and the small cases in every episode were interesting.

The romance, moreover, was subtle and sweet, progressing on a nice pace. However, they never dealed with the leading lady's mental problems. They only talked about it in the first episodes and then they just "cured" her? So, that was not well handled. On the other hand, the performances were pretty great.

So, overall, eight out of ten.

if you're looking for a light, sweet, romantic drama, then i will really2 recommend this !!

story : i love how the writers wrote the story and the romances between them..this drama is quite light without any antagonist or bad second lead interfere much..not also typical drama where the rich cold guy fall for the poor nice woman..this drama is just a story between two genius gorgeous student who fall with each other and met through an online game..of course they share same interest..relationship goals alert !! haha..this drama makes me wanna fall for someone..so if you want to watch a really sweet cute drama, i would recommend this !!

cast : at first i thought that the male lead look a bit awkward, but then i realize that i keep fall for him..not to mention that he got that looks ! you may thought that the girl are a bit loud in the gym or cafeteria scene, but trust me after sometime you'll join them and scream !
for the female lead, i love how she act..she looks refine, elegant, intelligent and very sweet..i love how she talks (not like other taiwan drama where the female lead are very loud)..
as for both, i do think they suit with each other..this drama is not like other where they fight and gradually fall in love..but since from the beginning they are so in love..that chemistry between them is surely your relationship goal !

ost : i'm not saying the ost are bad..but truthfully i don't even remember any song from this drama..maybe i didn't pay attention to the music..but heyy i'm watching a drama not listening to a music..

rewatch : of course i will..but maybe i'll start from when they are together instead from the beginning..why ?? please remember that 30 ep means 30 hours..so just for rewatch i'll skip first 10 episodes..huhu

Consigliatissimo. ?

The drama was made to feel like an anime. And as a result, some situations (actually, most of them) were overacted. On the other hand, huge credits have to be given to the actors and actresses for their performances. Some of the characters were really cute and deadly at the same time, but likable overall. Some other, however, were simply annoying (see the last girl with the russian roulette themed bet). Plus, even though the cases-games were enjoyable and entertaining, the drama was left with a wide open ending. So, six out of ten, because of the ending (could have been handled better, even if there is a second season-movie on works).

The idea of a Zombie Apocalypse is an idea most people anticipate, and dream about in a dystopian reality. Train to Busan brings this idea to life with marvelous cinematics, and amazing screenplay. The actors Gong Yoo, and Ma Dong-Seok (a real life Hulk) show us how amazing it is to survive a massive virus outbreak, where humanity fights for survival. The story is gripping, yet compelling, and conflicts the audience with different expressions of humanity, and the concepts of human emotions. The film portrays stories of love, anger, fear, selfishness, and selflessness in a magnificent, and creative fashion. Overall, the zombies are realistic, and the story is thrilling, and entertaining, a must watch for Kdrama beginners.

Let’s be real- it wasn’t that good.

If you’re looking for a short love story with no deep meaning, this is the one for you. Things went WAY too fast. It was cute, but as someone who likes to thing about the meanings of what I’m watching, this had no real story.

The actors were cute together, but it didn’t feel real. Watching this, it felt like one of those rip off reality TV series where the director is quite obviously telling them how to act.

I did like the idea of the Love Mate. I think the story was the thing that tied this show really together. How they met was cute, and I can totally see how people really enjoyed this.

" Theory of love " had an interesting theme, with the movie references and the Flipped plot.

The story is kind of light, although the main character does go into many tear showers due to his crush. Nevertheless, the friendship of the four college students had nice dynamics and it was entertaining. There were enough comedy reliefs as well. The romance, in addition, was nicely paced and the references from other romantic comedies were making it even more cute. The side characters had their moments as well, as the drama didn't forget about them in order to concentrate on the main couple. The ending, finally, was well managed and it was nice to see how they all succeeded in the future.

So, overall, seven out of ten.

Anything with Leo Wu I'm in

Finished watching it 2 weeks ago but was too lazy to write a review.

The first C-Drama where they actually went abroad to film & didn't fake it.

Lin Yi Yang is a student living in Finland. He is reserved, not a big talker, good with people, hard-working. A snooker player who is good at his studies. He is studying communication but doesn't know how to do it in person.

It was funny to see the way Yin Guo was suspicious of Lin Yi Yang being a fraud & him showing her his IDs.

The way Yin Guo was saying that Lin Yi Yang wasn't that handsome & suddenly he suggested a place to visit was so funny.

The awkward silence between Lin Yi Yang & Yin Guo.

It was cute to see how Lin Yi Yang slowed his walking speed when he saw Yin Guo struggling to match him. And then he switched places with Yin Guo when he saw her struggling to walk.

Lin Yi Yang treated Yin Guo with expressive things when he didn't have that much money & Wu Wei getting annoyed with him. Also, he arranged everything for Yin Guo's room, even taking Wu Wei's things.

It was funny to see Yin Guo & Meng Xiao Tian so scared when they saw Lin Yi Yang & Meng Xiao Dong face to face.

Love the way Meng Xiao Dong talks, he is cocky, not the kind of brother who stops his sister from pursuing her love and even encourages her to make a move. Everyone needs a supportive brother like Meng Xiao Dong.

Loved Lin Yi Yang & Meng Xiao Dong snooker face off. Also, when Lin Yi Yang signaled Meng Xiao Dong to stop playing, because he needed to message Yin Guo.

Lin Yi Yang gets annoyed whenever his friends come & disturb his & Yin Guo moments.

Wu Lei shirtless Ufffffffffffff

Yin Guo gets shy & breathes heavily whenever Lin Yi Yang is close to her.

Meng Xiao Dong changes completely whenever he sees Lin Lin. And how Jiang Yang & Lin Yi Yang push him towards Lin Lin. I want a drama about them with the same cast, obviously.

I wished they had shown more about their friendship, brotherhood.

And I think steamy kissing scenes depend on the director & not because of restrictions of the government. Because there're many dramas where there are a lot of steamy kissing scenes, like Love is Sweet, Till the End of the Moon, Story of Kunning Palace, Dramas that I haven't watched, like Hidden Love, You Are My Glory Destined, New Life Begins and many more. If there was restriction by the government, these dramas wouldn't have steamy kissing scenes.

this story is soo soo beautiful at first i was maybe i shouldn't watch it or you i might not like but yall it's worth the watch it is such a beautiful drama and they get a happy ending. I loved both of the main leads acting especially the male lead. In mh current life right now I would want someone just like him. This drama is good I recommend you all to go and watch u won't regret it. I loved the supporting cast too but the one main thing I hate in this drama is the hairstyles for the women specifically the main lead and her sister for the first couple episodes that the only thing i actually didn't like but everything else was good and though the songs were good/fine for this I just wasn't feeling it for this drama but overall it was good.

Make it right season 1 review

I love the story flowing from 1st scene to the other scenes, beside that the actor is very well-played in acting. I hate when Fuse deny Tee's love at this season but you should watch it. I love the moment when Frame and Book met each other, and also Nine and Rodtang first met. I think I hate Jean at all because she is really annoying, not showing the love to Fuse. I love to see the environment present here, what a beauty school they have. The music present here is the best, i thought. An epic drama presented here!

I maybe liked it better than most people, but . .

I ended up being one of those people who is REALLY unhappy about the ending, otherwise I would have rated this higher. On the plus side, Hyun Bin was fantastic. The female lead was meh. I didn't feel like the script really served her well. I liked the aspects of her character where she was hard working, a problem solver, and tenacious. But, gosh, so much crying. Many of the secondary characters were useless. If you are a Hyun Bin fan, you will be very rewarded, but I wouldn't recommend getting engaged in the story. Lots of it doesn't make sense, but none of that bothered me. The ending was so bad that I assumed I had miscounted and there was another episode. Again, focus on Hyun Bin. :)
