This was a really good drama. I will say I think it wins the prize for the amount of lies told in one drama.
I am glad I watched this while I was on vacation, because once I started watching, I couldn't stop
The acting was fabulous. Han Hyo Joo has been one of my favorites for a long time and she did not disappoint as Eun Sung
Lee Seung Gi as Hwan was someone I started out hating and grew to love as his story comes to life. Ban Hyo Jung as the grandmother was superb. So many good actors, difficult to mention every one. One more I have to mention though is Yun Joon Suk. as Eun Woo. What a great job he did portraying the autistic brother of Eun Sung
Much can be learned from this drama. To mention just a few, liars never prosper, have a goal in life, love those in your life because you never know how long they will be here, follow your heart, stand up for what you believe in.
I only gave this drama a 6 for rewatch value. Mainly because it is so long. I think there are a few episodes I may go back and watch but I don't think I will rewatch the entire drama

I don't know any of the actors from this and have basically no clue about japanese drama, so this review based only on my feelings for these 10 episodes.

When I first read the summary and decided to give it a try, I had not big hopes to really like it or so. But the couple of first episodes (especially the really first one) shown me that the plot has good potentional to be a awesome drama. Sadly in the middle, I was pretty bored by how the characters acted. But thanks to the last episode (which was awesome!) I came to really like the story.

What I really liked about the drama, were the inner speechs of the main leads. Especially the thoughts from Saburo helped me to understand him better, because I really just hardly saw any emotion on his face, when he wasn't involved in an operation.
I also think that Akiko Suzuki was annoying at some parts and way to selfish or protective.

Is there any music to name, that I overheared? Because I can really not name any specific music besides the great instrumentals that fit perfectly to every scene they were used. Awesome!

In the end, I don't know if I'll re-watch it in near future, but when I'll ever do it, maybe I understand the whole drama right (because I think some things just got lost in my mind).

Please give it a try like me! I think "Kumo no Kaidan (Staircase of Clouds)" is absolute no time waste.

First I'll start by saying this... I don't know how on earth this drama isn't one of the top dramas in MDL !!!! what's wrong with Asian Dramas fans?? how come the number of ppl who watched it is so little?? I really don't understand... :(

Story: Though it may seem your typical 16 ep romantic comedy k drama but it's really not, it is definitely not a typical K drama and that's one of the reasons why I loved it. For once no evil characters no crazy insanely jealous characters no annoying love triangle and clingy characters... The story points out something very important in Korea "contract workers" and work environment... though the topic is serious they brought it out in a very comical way this drama was so funny I couldn't stop laughing not a single episode was boring... it's my first time finishing a romantic comedy drama in just two days because I watched none stop. They presented the story in a way that you understand how hard work environment while also laughing it out. I loved how they put it in a really funny amusing way I'm not a person who laughs so easily but this drama never failed to make me laugh out loud in each and every episode.

Acting: I'm totally in love with Miss Kim (Kim Hye Soo)... I've never seen this actress before but let me just say she really deserved the 1st place in critics evaluation for best actors... Miss Kim is my favorite female character ever made in K drama !! FOR ONCE not a push over weakling and a doormat for everyone character but rather strong, independent and super cool female character. This just proves that Queen of The Office is really not your typical K drama and Kim Hye Soo (Miss Kim) is worthy of your time trust me !!

Finally I would say it's a complete loss to anyone who haven't watched it yet and I do mean every word !!

I picked this drama on a random thought and im glad i did.
This drama seeks to break many stereotypes that many dramas still follow and looks at characters and situations with a fresh light.

Park Jin Hee does a wonderful job playing Lee shin Young. She brings to the screen something fresh and i like her character a lot.She is hard working, talented and doesnt worry about unecessary stuff. She is selfish and ambitious but at the same time she actually loves and cares too.Her relationship with Han Min Jae played by our favourite Kim Bum is very nicely done. Its a younger man-older woman relationship and they play it nicely.Their chemistry is pretty good and the conflicts between them was realistic. He does everything with an enthusiasm of a 24 year old and is a usual charmer with a hint of mischief..;)

Boo Ki is another of my favourite characters from this drama. She is a very capable interior designer and owns a restaurant too.She doest mope about her life and is the most logical out of the three. She is the voice of reasons and believes love will come whenever it has too and goes about her life happily.

Jung da Jung is just a selfish brat who will sell her own soul to the devil if it means she can get a husband that way.She is utterly desperate and selfish to the core and doesnt care about others much. She still manages to grab such an awesome guy as Ban seok just shows she is manipulative and cunning to the core.

I love the friendship that is depicted here. They live close by and discuss everything and drink together and eat together and take care of each other like newly wedded couple when one is going through a breakup..:D

Choi Chul sok's character Ban seok was very funny to watch. He is loyal and sweet to the core.Perfect husband material.

I liked the love story of Yoon Sang Woo and Choi Sang Mi.Their love was something spontaneous and filled with desperation as both try to escape their life.It was sweet and beautiful at the same time.

This drama is the type one marathones through.the conflicts and misunderstandings are resolved quickly and noone mourns over the same thing for more than an episode which is a first for me.It has awesome chemistry between the leads and their respective relationships too.I wouldnt mind being in their shoes because at the end of it all of them have the best that life has to offer
This is highly recomended if you like light, feel good dramas which leave you feeling happy ..:)

Now THIS is a perfect example of a Japanese drama done right. I finished the final episode earlier today, and was very pleased with the ending. Watching this drama was definitely a roller coaster. All the surprises and the twists and turns left me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire ride. The mystery introduced at the very beginning of the 1st episode definitely gave a bit of a feel of how the rest of the drama would play out. It was interesting, compelling and will leave you guessing every episode.

The acting was my favorite part. Sakurai Sho did an excellent job in portraying his character with all of his crazy antics and questioning teaching methods, but didn't necessarily outshine the other actors who I thought portrayed their roles just as well. Speaking of which, Kamiki Ryunosuke definitely stuck out to me with his portrayal of Numata Shinichi. I think portraying someone who was as psychologically unstable as that is not an easy task to take on, but I thought he did exceptionally well it portraying his character and was pleasantly surprised with his performance.

The music was very fitting for this drama.. Although, being an Arashi fan, I've gotta say I did fall in love with the ending theme "Endless Game"... But I generally tend to like their music, so that wasn't much of a shock to me.

Overall I highly, highly recommend this drama. If you like "mystery" type dramas, I suggest you check this out. You won't be disappointed. This drama will keep you guessing every week and the story plot is definitely something to stick around for. It has a very pleasing ending that wraps the drama up nicely and will actually leave you with wanting more episodes. I guess we can only hope for a future special, right?

You cannot go wrong with sugarless. It's got action, cute romance and best of all, it is HILARIOUS. Not only that, but there are some ridiculously good looking guys who are shirtless for the opening song.

Ahhhhhhhh, so amazing, just do yourself a favour and watch this. You will be happy you did, then you will be sad that you watched it because you won't have the same feeling watching it again. There is always something special about watching something really great for the first time. It kind of saddened me a bit that I won't be able to watch sugraless for the first time again. Now I know what happens in the episodes and I know how the scene plays out. I wish I could watch sugarless again for the first time.

Don't punish yourself and watch this, it's almost impossible not to watch it again.

This drama is 4 episodes as you can tell, but I felt as if I watched 16 episodes of it. It is so detailed that I was surprised that the directors cramped everything in just 4 episodes.
I really loved the story and couldn't help but getting excited for just one single moment that the main characters acted as a couple. Their acting was extraordinary just like their ordinary love ;). The only thing that I really hated was the ending. Like really, Okay even though the ending was pretty bad I still recommend this drama. IT'S A MUST SEE.

I loved this drama so much, the whole way through it was entertaining and something was happening. The plot was great and the romance in it was cute. There's one huge let down though - the ending. I've got so many questions as to what will happen... With for example what happens with Team Leader Han, what happens to Ji Seung-Yeon and so many more...! Wish they didn't cut it that short.

But overall, a definite great watch! Worth my time!

well at first I have to say that this was totally not what I expected. I still enjoyed watching this drama. the title fits in many aspects, but it is not really about two people pretending to be a couple to hook up others.
I would say this drama is about love between family and friends, and also tragic history between the characters. the story is quite sad, although it starts out fun. the ending was a little quick for me. on the one hand I didn't even take that much interest anymore, but on the other hand some things were dissolved too fast. there was so much tension between the characters and it was suddenly gone, like someone let the air out of a balloon. and it's one of those stories that makes you feel life is unfair to the good people.
the main actors were really great though!all the character's feelings were portrayed very well. I could sympathize with them and understand their grief and why they were doing things. the music was good and will be stuck in my head for quite some time.
I wouldn't rewatch it, because I hardly rewatch any drama. there are so many new right?!;) and it's too sad for me, I don't like sad.-_- also there seemed to be a problem with the rest of the episodes being uploaded and subbed. even though I understand Chinese and don't need subs it was hard for me to find the last 3 episodes.
so basically I am recommending this to people who like to watch a melodrama, that's not as sad and dramatic as others. if you like to sympathize with the 'bad' people Shi Yinan did a great job. and if you like Dylan Kuo, you should watch it. he is very different from the drama I saw him in before.
do not watch this if you are looking for a funny romantic comedy with the typical couple 'first hate then turn to love'-relationship. it's not!

This review may contain spoilers
I was one of the confused watchers of this drama since I hadn't watched the japanese version now that I've seen both...
WATCH THE JAPANESE VERSION it seriously helps alot
You should definetely watch this drama if you want something interesting
The good things:
1. The story is interesting, It is different and a bit unusal.
2. You don't get bored and things are always happening.
3. The story unfolds nicely and you get to know the characters slowly.
4. The actors are great! Especially if you think about their age.
5.I don't really care about the music. But it's SHINEE!! 10/10
6. It is BETTER than the classical k-drama with amnesia, evil moms, awkward kisses etc.

Still there where some things that I really didn't like...
(some actions in this drama)
Up to this day I (almost) never rewatch dramas because it's never as exciting as the first time. Therefore a 5.

ONCE AGAIN WATCH THE JAPANESE VERSION.

The first time I wrote this review I got a bit carried away...
I'm sorry for posting spoilers!! Gomenasai!

I love love this drama. I thought it was going to seem so long, that i would have to drop it but it wasn't like that. Each episode just kept getting interesting and funnier. I loved how each characters developed and matured. The end, Omg god bless Korea it was just so beautiful. I loved every moment of it even though some characters annoyed the hell out of me, but that just shows great acting. The way the plot/events developed were so believable, that it didn't seem like i was still watching a drama. I applaud this drama, the cast, the writer and the director. Thank u so much for making such a remarkable show. This was tabek:)

I was hooked to watch this drama when I watched a very well-made fanmade video in youtube. And Song Seung Hoon & Shin Se Kyung’s chemistry blends finely so I thought of giving this drama a shot once it finished airing (I usually pick up Kdramas based on the leads’ chemistry and next; the storyline). Despite the comments & reviews of how bad the drama is, I was already determined to put When A Man Loves on my PTW list.

I’m not sure whether WAML features a stereotype storyline or not since I had never yet to watch any Korean melodrama (I did watch a few episode of Nice Guy, but it has been on hold, until now.), thus when I watch WAML, I see the storyline as something new and fresh. Honestly, I couldn’t really expect what would happen next and that somehow kept me going.

About the characters, most of them are all messed up, but it was kind of interesting and I see that as some kind of characters experiment done by the director and scriptwriters. Because it is the first time I’m having a love-hate relationship with characters of a drama. I really liked Han Tae Sang character at the first few episodes, he has that manly look and tough personality yet is very naïve in love, it is sort of cute. So I thought I could like him until the very last episode but sadly, I couldn’t. It reaches a point where his love for Seo Mi Do doesn’t feel innocent anymore, all I could I see was him trying to keep her by her side without even trying to understand her real feelings and dreams. And that just turns me off.

I’m sure lots of audience couldn’t stand with Seo Mi Do character. Me too. But, I somehow could easily put myself into her shoes of why she is being like that. Her character is surprisingly more realistic compared to other Korean dramas’ female leads. If I were in her place, I would not know too of whom to choose.

This story focuses not only on the main characters but also the supporting ones, so it is basically one of this drama’s good points. The acting is generally good. Song Seung Hoon is already a pro; obviously, he did a good job here. Shin Se Kyung, yes, she needs to vary her expression more. And that Chang Hee guy (Han Tae Sang’s right hand), it’s now the time for directors out there to give him a main character- he is one of those actors who knows to convey his emotions perfectly through eyes!

Overall, it is a good drama for me. The only problem is the main characters- they aren’t that likable. Still, it’s a good thing, since they don’t stick to cliché drama characters’ traits.

this is just a regular story with regular happenings nothing special really but the cast was wonderful. xin yi did a great job playing a sticky note girl she owned the character well as well as cun xi.the acting was not perfect it lacked in some realness but overall it was an entertaining drama. i loved the second sister she was so funny and her voice was just unique and believable. big childish sis. the sissy boy was awsome too maintaining his flamboyance. dylan was hot and i couldnt take my eyes off him whenever he comes on screen. grandma and mom were loud and a trip and sweet baby ji was just cute.
the drama was abit exaggerated esp towards the end that it became cheesy. seriously should have lasted only 16 or 20 episodes, they tried to add more stuff that was unnecessary. its not really a rewatchable show, one time is enough.

I'll try and give my honest opinion.

To me this drama is like a hard core version of a real life high school experience. At least to me it didn't happen exactly like in this drama, but there were ranking, bullying, bad teachers, and etc.

I would say that this drama is something that you could to learn from. If you're in that situation or know someone that is. They could see how Baba-san solved her classmates problems and her own and eventually you could use this to graduate safely.

The synopsis of disease may sound cliche and overused, but the overall drama will make your heart ache.

This is a story that didn't just incorportate cancer and leukemia for the heck of it - they were vital and the writer/s made good use of it to create a wonderful story. They were not introduced by the end to make a random sob story. From the beginning the viewer can feel future tradgedy and drama and it's executed beautifully.

The soundtrack is harmonic and mellow as if it were a nostalgic. It is not overused and when it is, it does as it's supposed to: enhance the scene for the viewer.

Lee Hyori is a great singer and in this her acting was nothing to complain about. She embraced her character well. Lee Donggun has a humble charm about him that doesn't come off cocky nor weak. His acting portrayed his character perfectly in my opinion. Both worked well together and had great chemistry. Side characters were also well played.

If you're looking for a short dramatic love story, this is the drama for you. Not too many episodes - no part is particularly boring and overall the story is very well executed. To me, it's a drama that you just enjoy to the end and don't look back. Yes I would consider rewatching, but I get the feeling that it wouldn't be the same as the first run through. Again, overall 10/10.
