The characterization felt sometimes off for 1-2 characters, and there was some back and forth on a certain front that went far too long.
But, it was still a good and enjoyable series, with lots of awesome action scenes, a marvellous OST (especially the music score, absolutely great- some momenets were executed greatly accompanied by the music alone) and you get your romance, too. (with your obligatory unecessary angst ofc but well)
p.s if you came here after reading/watching the manga/anime, then let me tell you it's barely (more like nothing) like the original story so don't expect anything and complain later- it's mostly the title.

IT's really good, but could be awseome
First of all, I didn’t read the manga so I don’t know how much the drama stays true to the story of the book, but in fact it’s not the most important thing.I was really hooked on this drama, the action scenes are the best I've seen. Even though it was 2011, I watched after seeing K-2 and Healer and found the action scenes better. The performance of the entire cast is very good and the characters were very well prepared by the actors, which makes the story much more credible. The OST is generally good. The romance develops slowly and the scenes between the protagonists are sweet and funny, the push/pull game works but up to a certain point. And the plot is sensational !!
The series has an excellent development and a very good pace, where everything is happening very well tied up until the 13th episode ... After that it starts to drag and it is very difficult to watch without pressing the FF button. Many scenes without context or even, in a way, repetitive. And the relationship between the protagonists falls apart. That push / pull thing that was working ends up getting annoying and that nice tension between them just disappears. This drama could have 16 episodes instead of 20 and I'm sure it would be much better.
Now let's talk about the ending - SPOILER ALERT.
After dragging the story for more than 5 episodes, the director decides that everything will be solved in the last one and that leaves, contrary to what he wanted, several open ends and everything gets very confused.
After the shooting where Yoon Sung and Jin Pio are shot, JP assumes all crimes by saying he is the real City Hunter, but says that this person - YS in this case - has to die and the two end up unconscious and covered in blood on the floor. Cut to a year ahead where it is assumed that YS is dead, because his mother moves to the USA with the ahjussi with a very sad face and Na Na meets with friends and they mention that it has been a year since YS is no longer over there. Cut (yes, just like that) A Na Na scene dragging a suitcase where she seems to see YS, she runs and he appears behind her, they look at each other and smile and cut. The last scene is YS driving a car through the city at night. The End!
Really ??? WTF?? If he wanted to imply that he did not die, there are other ways ... and, if he did not die, what's the need for him to hide the fact that he is alive from his mother? Why would he continue as City Hunter ?? I really didn't like this ending, because I think it was not faithful to everything the character developed throughout the series: what he wanted the most was to have a happy life with the people he loved and that would be very possible since JP confessed to be the real City Hunter. Now, if he really died, what was the scene where Na Na and he meet? Delirium??? And the driving scene?? LAME !!
My ending: After the shooting, the ambulance arrives and takes YS, Na Na goes beside him (the camera moving and defocusing and an appropriate soundtrack convey her suffocating and desperate feeling about what is happening) they arrive at the hospital and he has to be resuscitated and end up in a coma. During this time, all the people with whom he created a bond will visit him, which shows that he is no longer a lonely guy. He is loved and has built true bonds, something he always wanted in life. After he regains consciousness, sitting on the bed, he puts his hand on his chest and misses something, opens the drawer of the side table: empty. The nurse enters and he asks where the necklace he was wearing is. At that same moment Na Na arrives and shows the hand with the ring. The ring his mother gave him and he hesitated all the time to put it in Na Na's hand because he was afraid. Cut to the scene / flashback where he opens the wooden box with the ring and with the bullet that his "father" was killed. He returns the bullet to JP and puts the ring on a necklace around his neck, as if to say that till that moment he lived to fulfill his promise of revenge, but now he will live to fulfill his promise to himself to be happy with the people he loves and have a normal life. Cut back to the hospital: the two look at each other, he takes her hand and kisses the ring, the tears roll, nothing needs to be said because they already know. The End!

In Short: Great plotting, casting and pacing. I felt entertained and emotionally invested from start to end.
Pros: Well casted and truly thrilling.
Cons: Some details may have been glossed over a bit too neatly (drug money?) and the ending should have provided us with a sequel already.

Nana was a terrible female lead. It felt like they tried to spoonfeed the audience — every other sentence about her was that she was strong, badass, independent, and just not scared of anything. But her character was honestly really weak, both physically and mentally. Nana was a damsel in distress, but her constant "Wow, you aren't afraid of anything!" and I'm-such-a-fighter attitude honestly made it really annoying when she needed saving every other episode and never really got involved in the scheming, which is what annoyed me with MLFTS as well — the female lead was practically just there to be a love interest, to be used as a hostage, and there was barely personal growth.
With that being said, the fact that they focused so much on the romance was honestly annoying and I fast-forwarded through all the montages of their moments together. I was much more interested in the vigilante/action aspect than the romance, and the romance was also extremely cliche, with "I'm bad for you, don't love me" being the only reason they weren't together yet.
Jin-pyo was an annoying character as well, but he was the most intriguing by far, with the whole anti-hero thing going for him. I couldn't see his story going any differently than the way it did.
The action twists were really good and the backstory was fleshed out well. The fact that there were these mini plot arcs throughout the drama for each of the corrupted officials and how they were dealt with made things really interesting and I kept looking forward to the next one, especially seeing how the prosecutor's view of things would play along side-by-side.
Yet, I don't think anything really surprised me, and something about production style made a lot of scenes seem less dramatic than they could have been. I felt like the ending was kind of anti-climactic as well, and Nana stayed annoying til the very end.

The last genre i would watch the least is~ action, but this i must say, this drama is much much much outstanding. Everything is well thought about-actor, story, effects(especially)) etc. I cried and laugh (who wouldn't be~i just thought). well, there may be some boring parts but not in the negative way. iguess it's all about timing and all:) In short this is a must watch drama

City Hunter had it all; mystery, bromance, comedy, action, shiny cars, and let's not forget the romance! Each episode was so packed with suspense, I fell in love with the show the first episode! With 20 episodes, you would think it dragged on, but the flow was actually on schedule. I also really enjoyed the OST for this drama, and that is really rare for me! I had never actually watched the anime of City Hunter, so I don't know if it actually was similar to it, but I believe it was good on its own. I loved all the action in this drama, along with its great film quality. The acting was also quite incredible; with Lee Min Ho (looking quite fine) I had previously just watched him on another drama and thought he was great then, but when I watched City Hunter, I didn't see him as his character in Personal Taste, but as a whole separate person. I thought Lee Min Ho actually rose to a whole other level with Lee Yoon Sung - his character. Lee Min Ho really captured Yoon Sung, making him my favorite in the series along with his hot cool moves! Haha
All in all, I Highly recommend that you watch City Hunter! It is NOT something you would want to skip out on!!!

the ONLY reason i gave the story 9/10 is because PEOPLE DIED WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE!!!!
10/10 for making me cry my eyes out and look like a weirdo in front of my family! :L
Acting/Cast: 10/10
you couldn't have chosen a better cast for this drama, i mean...Lee Min Ho, need i say more?
the other actors/actresses were AMAZING and you were really able to connect with them as their personalities and the way they reacted to certain situations was so believable. I fell in love with all the characters: even the bad ones!
Music: 10/10
the music suited the drama VERY well, in certain fight scenes they used the slower music and i think that worked really well because they focused more on the emotional side rather than the 'oh i'm gonna beat the cr@p out of you now with some intense music' it was very touching
Rewatch Value: 10/10
i would definitely be able to watch this a million times over and not get bored, it's one of those dramas that even though you know how it's going to end and you know all the little twists the writers put in, you can't help but want to watch it again: it's addictive!!!
Overall: 10/10
This was such an amazing drama! i can't believe i never watched it before. at first i thought it was going to be just one of those dramas with a load of hype and then when i watch it it's a bit of a let down. Trust me, it is TOTALLY worth watching this!!!!!! Warning: Do Not Start Watching Unless You Are Prepared To Get Addicted!!!
