A FLAWED MASTERPIECE

Hmm.. it's such a strange drama. A weird drama. WHY?

Well, I always thought that with bad writing, the story will be very difficult to follow. But I was wrong. Very very wrong.

The last 3 episodes had one of the most MEDIOCRE writing I've ever witnessed in my days of watching kdramas ever.

However, the PERFORMANCE of the cast and STORY was just too good to make this drama a BAD one. So much so...that I'm EMBARASSED to say that it's a good drama that was WORTH the time to watch.

This drama reminded me of the past Kdramas that used to air back in the day. Dramas where the rich 'chaebol' ML falls in love with a 'cinderella' kinda FL and then loses his memory and so on. What they did here was just a gender swap but the execution of it was so good.

MAYBE we need to bring in the VINTAGE stuff back. However, with proper execution and BETTER writing (Emphasis on this tho).

A solid 9.0 from me. A hugely FLAWED drama but still a MASTERPIECE

This is all meaningless conservative propaganda. If you're different then you're the villain lol seriously the only people with any integrity were Win and Sprite and they were both not shown in a positive light. Tor's character had integrity too in the beginning when he was with Sprite but then he becomes .. wait for it... A LITERAL MONK and joined the rest of the self-righteous clan. Serious WTF storyline. And the BL story like most characters in the show they act on a whim, you don't feel them actually bonding mostly because of the lack of a good script and shoddy direction. So I couldn't care about any of the relationships because there was no chemistry, nothing. No on screen bonding especially for the BL story. It's like the creators saw SKINS (my favorite show btw idc what you think) and wanted to make it edgy and dark but they don't really understand anything because this is clearly the work of an immature mind. And okay I always say this, I 've always had a problem with SOTUS 'bullying is good for you' bs but I still don't rate it low because the couples got chemistry and the couple's parts are done so well and the script and direction is good otherwise. Because yes Hormones could have become SOTUS but the COUPLES WERE ALL SO BORING. I had to keep myself from falling asleep lol at least Win Sprite and Tor in the beginning were interesting characters, the other characters TOTAL SNOOZE FEST. And i know Hormones gets compared with Gloomy Salad Days so I'm going to tell you what I think. GSD is nuanced, and has heart. Hormones isn't even guilty pleasure ecxept for a few scenes. GSD might look low budget but it feels like a cult classic whereas Hormones is just shallow and unremarkable. Okay there you have it. Sorry to everyone who liked it, I know im being harsh.

Has its flaws, but still brilliant

(spoilers)
There's so much to love about Vincenzo: the acting, the killer music, the comedic moments interspersed with intense drama, the action scenes, the contemplation on good vs evil and the nature of justice. Song Joong Ki is at his peak in this drama, making the titular character shine in all his complexity and moral ambiguity. He makes the show what it is and continues to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with on the screen. Jeon Yeo Bin was a new face to me, but I was in love with her within five minutes of meeting her. She's unlike any FL I've seen in a Kdrama to date, and Jeon Yeo Bin masterfully captures her playfulness, her deep determination, and her messy morals. Taecyeon was a brilliant villain, even if his star started to fade a bit toward the end, and Kwak Dong Yeon (another new name to me) stole every scene he was in with his fantastic acting and the complexity he brought to what could have been a very forgettable role as the younger Jang brother.
I do feel that the writers were a bit too generous with Vincenzo. A tight plot and story is all about balancing characters' wins and losses, and quite frankly Vincenzo got a few too many wins. Song Joong Ki did a stunning job with the script, but there was certainly room in the second half of the show for more setbacks, more give and take between Vincenzo and Jang Han Seok. When the protagonist is constantly outsmarting and outmaneuvering the supposedly terrifying, psychopathic villain, it's easy to get comfortable and lose some of the momentum built early on. Jang Han Seok and Choi Myung Hee, both incredibly compelling villains early on, were readily admitting they were no match for Vincenzo well before the end of the show, and failed to anticipate any of Vincenzo's moves or even have much of a plan of their own beyond reacting to whatever he threw at them. I wanted to see Vincenzo really, truly threatened, to see him defeat a powerful villain after a grueling and satisfying battle, but instead, in his own words, he was the cat and Jang Han Seok/Choi Myung Hee were the mice. (For example, for seemingly no other purpose than pissing Vincenzo off, they murder his mother, and are then shocked when he of course retaliates immediately and brutally? How did that murder fit into their larger plans? Why do it at that moment?)
I have other little qualms with the story of course, but overall this was an addictive, intense, entertaining drama that I would definitely recommend for Song Joong Ki and Jeon Yeo Bin alone. If you're looking for morally gray characters who fight evil with evil, or if you just want a fun, action-packed, edge-of-your-seat story, this is a must-see.

Red Balloon is technically the “Parasite” drama version

Red Balloon is the “Parasite” drama version. This one sentence can give you a whole idea of what would be unfolded throughout the series. It started off with a typical loyal friendship between Han Ba-da and Jo Eun-Kang. 20 years of friendship between two different worlds. What a journey.

While Ba-da has a successful life with a perfect husband and a daughter to be proud of, Eun-Kang is still struggling to find a good match for her. Apparently, she’s dating Kwon Tae-Ki, a young man who has been living off her while ignoring her existence. I almost dropped this drama in the earlier episodes because I can’t stand Eun-Kang’s ignorance, especially about her boyfriend.

I honestly can’t stand stupid main leads. It is such a turn-off. I mean, yes, we can be desperate to get married. Since Eun-Kang is already 37, I understand her desperation, but to allow someone to take advantage of you to that extent. I’m just baffled. (While I hope no one out there is as stupid as Eun-Kang when in a relationship). Please don’t let men manipulate your life.

Just when I thought Eun-Kang’s sister, Jo Eun-San is the most sensible one in the family, she proved me wrong again when she started seducing a married man. Her intention may be right but her method is wrong when she technically throws herself at the man.

Both Jo and Go's families are a complete mess, entangled in complicated and endless scandals. Personally, I think the root of the problem is the Lonely Grandpa. He is so overprotective of his family, controlling everyone in the house, including his son-in-law, Ji Nam-Cheol.

As the plot thickens with a few misunderstandings here and there, leading Ba-da and Eun-Kang to misunderstand each other until Eun-Kang resorts to betraying her own friend. I think the real drama begins in episode 15.

Some good values you can learn from this drama are; Eun-Kang’s family, no matter how worse the situation they get themselves into, they remain strong together as a family, and Han Ba-da’s forgiving nature. Despite what Eun-Kang did to her, she’s still being rational, thinking about the good deeds Eun-Kang had done to help her over the past 20 years.

Ending with ‘friendship’ value wins, with an open ending or maybe hinting for the second season, which I hope nope.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
HO AMATO

NO, semplicemente no (es. l’ultima scena, odiata).

I

Queen of Tears' Concludes with a Heartwarming Finale

Queen of Tears" had me glued to the screen from start to finish. Kim Soo Hyun(Baek Hyun Woo) and
Kim Ji Won(Hong Hae In) brought their characters to life in such a touching way, even Park Sung Hoon
(Yoon Eun Seong) played the role pretty nicely The ending couldn't have been better. Huge thanks to everyone involved for this wonderful ride!

Let's play "count the flies"...there were a LOT.

First of all, regardless of what the inspiration for this Kdrama was, do not expect anything like (or remotely close to) Killing Eve. For me, that wasn't a bad thing at all. This drama is expertly done, the characters are so well written and the interactions between all the characters are packed with so much chemistry. I've seen some less than positive reviews, but I honestly don't know what left field they came from because this drama is so engaging and well done.

The main villain was really appealing, I totally bought her 100% as the bad guy, she was absolutely insane but in the most pleasant way to watch. The music that played whenever she was going crazy was so memorable and felt exactly what her head must have felt like while she was high on the darkness within. The entire OST was really expertly crafted and matched the scenes perfectly.

The main and side characters were all interesting, there was a lot of humor, and the evil darkness of the plot was so colorfully presented with such rich character interactions. But above everything else, the FL was spectacular. Out of every single minute of the drama there was only one tiny scene at the end where I didn't buy her performance, and it was super super minor. In every other moment of this drama her character is so expertly depicted, I never once felt like her behavior was unrealistic at all. Her interactions with every single character in the drama absolutely made the show successful.

To the dude who scoffed at the dirty gamer chick aspect of things, it isn't just guilt that makes someone like this, it's depression. Living in filth, obsessing over an intricate hobby, failing to bathe, drinking, generally not caring about the world around you, these are all massive signs of depression and I thought the drama did a great job of portraying them. 500% better than dragging someone out of the gutter and having them be suddenly competent and successful. This was, in my mind, completely realistic and very much mirrors how some people deal with grief. Something like the suicide of a spouse destroys most people left behind, and I think it would have been disingenuous to represent it otherwise.

I rated this drama really highly not just because it impressed me so much while watching it, but also because the stories and OST stuck with me long after the drama had ended. I really hope there's a season 2 so we can figure out Santa's whole deal. I'm really glad the show didn't focus on "fixing the broken person" but instead molded itself around her like a blanket, allowing her to retain her eccentricities without trying to force her into some societal mold of what a functional human being should be.

This One Was ...... Different

This isn't your typical drama.

As I watched this, I wondered how much of the Webtoon story the Producers and Writers retain for the Drama because the story has some definite problematic issues.

Song Kang probably had a hard time portraying this character and I do not for one bit fault his acting. Sun-oh was ...different, pushy in a way that can be a turn-off. Buuuuut, I didn't hate him, and that's probably why this drama gets an Overall 8 for me. I was still rooting for their relationship with Kim Jojo. I thought Jojo did not have a legit reason for the breakup...I mean for the level of heartbreak involved, hers was too flimsy a reason. Otherwise, this drama drew me in completely. I am glad I waited for both Season 1 and 2 to air before starting because I do not know how I could have endured the wait.

Overall an excellent show with great music. Story lagged at times and I thought they did one thing too many but it's easy to over look. I didnt expect it to be so funny. The romance is great, both couples. I find myself thinking about them from time to time and reminiscing about how much I enjoyed them being together. The acting is phenomenal. I love the leads so much. Looking forward to watching more of them elsewhere.

Vicenzo - A rare drama which deserves 10/10

This is the first time i am posting a review. I couldnt help but write one after i finished watching Vincenzo. I have only one word to describe this drama - MINDBLOWING!!
The drama is a blend of everything - action , suspense , comedy , tragedy , romance, u name it. They are all well balanced and complement each other perfectly.

STORY -
The storyline is in such a way that it keeps us hooked to the last second. Its filled with unexpected friendships and betrayals. Unlike many other dramas, u will never get bored while watching it. It never once dragged. This is one of the biggest advantages of this drama.
The drama clearly shows us the real way of the world. It shows us how humans are greedy, selfish, corrupt and manipulative. It shows us the fragility of our laws and justice. It gives us the idea that only evil can eradicate evil.
But even when portraying such serious issues, it never became too dark or too boring thanks to the hilarious situations in between. The balance among them was just perfect.

ACTING/CAST -
Every character in this drama was worth remembering, even the smallest of the roles. Each and everyone did their best.
The chemistry btw Song Joon Ki and Jeon Yeo Been was so gud that it easily grow on u. Even though romance is not the main genre of this drama, u cant help but fall in love with this couple. The character development was so smooth - it was neither fast nor slow. Whether it was as friends, partners or lovers, they were perfect for each other.( And lets admit it, SJK with a gun- WOW😍)
Some special mentions:
○ Guemga family- Everyone in the Guemga plaza was unique and full of surprises. They are one of the main reasons for the success of this drama.
○ Jang Han Seo - Started as an enemy, ended as a brother. U cant help but sympathise with this character. Kwok Dong Yeon did a great job in playing this character.
○ Inzaghi - Even though its just a bird , it played an irreplaceable character in this drama. The drama would have been incomplete without it.

MUSIC -
This drama has a great collection of music. Every ost was just perfect for the scenes. The fusion of Italian music was catchy and the cherry on top for this drama.

REWATCH -
Vincenzo is the kind of drama that u cant get enough of. U cant help but rewatch it again!! Its just an EPIC drama❤

The series presented from cultures (Korean, Italian, Biblical, Buddhist, ...) presents a progression from the Mafia, did not forget the way of speaking and writing in Korean, and barely learned Italian, take off, Italian, Italian, as he is stuck in the war of good against evil, and he sided with me since the beginning , and assist in the ruling in the struggle for justice.
((People need to understand that the Mafia does nothing but brutal murders and murders, they have to follow it, only from here comes what you see in the media portrayal of the Mafia)).
This show had a lot of supporting roles a lot, but I've never felt crowded. Each had a spiritual character and a 20-episode episode of that show was featured.
"Managing episodes, as long as you can visualize it."
● Ok Taecyeon is amazing in his amazing dual portrayal and the CEO of the company, his presentation of both characters is amazing. He's a legitimate madman and a perfect demon) I felt sorry for him, a clearly flawed and troubled human being. I loved all his little English phrases often, I enjoyed seeing his anger and frustration, just his gluttony, he does a good job. I want him to be with the heroine but at the same time I want him to be tortured the way he would torture anyone who gets in his way.
● A half-brother, played by Kwak Dong Yeon, was once again cool in his portrayal of Jang Han Seo.. He's funny but scary at the same time while looking incredibly handsome in porralro suits??
Kind of prepped, in other words, imagine what will happen, but it concludes, definitively. Those who go to hell from eternal torment, those who go to hell.

Disappointing, Boring With Useless Love Triangle

I watched it because of the face card of most of the cast members have and with some expectation for a plot twist. But turns out, with the existing love triangle and unsatisfactory cast for murderer, it's just too boring for me.

Kang Ha was the center of the story, who should exposed and taking a revenge for his twin brother's murderer starting with transfer to a prestigious high school. But as the episode goes by, Kang Ha was distracted from his original plan and entangled with a useless love triangle with Jaeyi and Rian.

I hate the way this drama make most of the characters pretending to be adults cuz it's just too dramatic as if they had been living in their 30-40. I hate how arrogant the characters behave too, like how can u act like that with people whose been with u since u were a child? I don't blame Yoon Hera characterization fir acting that way.

Well, besides the lacking, I still love the handsome cast and the stunning cinematography.

I don't regret watching it but if there's season 2, I really hope it can fulfill my expectations.
