S-TIER DRAMA TO WRAP UP THIS YEAR

Dec. 14, 2021

Oh my gawd, this drama is the perfect cherry on top to end this goddamn year. Every single episode was packed and full of interesting stories that is clearly laid out. Definitely, the superior drama for the latter half of 2021. Park Hyungsik and Han Hyo Joo really snapped with their comeback. I couldn’t care less for what others might say but let me tell you I love this drama. From all the overhyped drama released this year, Happiness deserves better ratings and popularity.

The off the chart chemistry of Yi Hun and Sae Bom. OH MY GAWDDDDDDDD. I lowkey wished they gave us an episode just full of cliché of them being romantic cause I will literally live for that. Anyhow, the plot is perfect, the music is perfect, the cast is magnificent. One of the few dramas this year where I don't have any complaint at all. I really just wish for a special episode like is that too much to ask for? I really love our trio, Yi Hun and Sae Bom and their 'child' ahahaha. For all the other characters like the ones in the apartment can die like literally. They are down horrendous and the worst people I have ever seen. I really wish they got death instead of jail. I really don't believe that jail is the necessary punishment for them. I never felt this type of anger, I feel like Penthouse was the last drama I really felt this way.

Anyway, make sure to watch happiness, it will give you a rollercoaster of a ride. Also, prepare some tissues cause you will fking need it ?

I CRIED EVERY EPISODE

This was such a wonderful drama. Much like life it had its wonderful moments and it had its sad ones.
I watched this show for Park Bo-young, who plays the protagonist Jung Daeun, but stayed for the stories and characters
Dr. Dong was a complete goofball and I’m glad they made him a love interest. I hate when great characters like him are only utilized for comedic relief, it pisses me off. So much so, when it was revealed that Daeun’s best friend, Yuchan, also has feelings for her I was displeased. For one, I’m not the biggest fan of love triangles and I think they’re just filler content used to complicate the plot and make the story so dramatic. I literally swore that no matter how much I enjoyed the show, if Daeun ended up with Yuchan the show would lose a whole star on Mydramalist. But thankfully she ended up with Dr. Dong and I could rate the show a full 10 stars.
Besides the romances I really like the patients stories. If you’ve watched the show Tomorrow and enjoyed it, you would like this show too. I really liked how they dived into the patients backstories and showed what led up to their mental health issues, while also explaining what their sicknesses are and how it affects them in their everyday lives. It also talked about prejudice and stigma that lies around mental health issues which I think will really help change people’s minds. I didn’t even think I had any stigma or prejudice until I watched the show. So not only was it entertaining, but also informative.
I cried so much too. I couldn’t help it. The characters were portrayed so well and it just kept making me sad thinking that a lot of people go through things like what appeared in the show and are affected mentally. The show just helped show how ordinary people going through things many people can relate to can get sick. And I liked how there were always connections between the patients and nurses to show that we’re all similar, just some aren’t strong enough mentally to get through it by themselves. Like the working mother case. I didn’t even know pseudo amnesia was a thing! But when the doctor made her write about some important events in her life and how she felt during those times and then highlight all her negative emotions that made me cry. You could really see how she realized what her life has been for a while. She noticed that she’s felt a lot of negative emotions and a lot of it was from balancing being a mother and having a job. After that she saw the similarities in Nurse Song and gave her advice. And it was really nice seeing although she was the patient, she was giving insight into Nurse Song’s life so that she did that end up like her. I think the reasons I cried so much in this show was because it was hard to see ordinary people change so much mentally because of the world around them.
Lastly I want to talk about Kim Seo Hwan. OH HOW I CRIED!! I actually loved this patient so much! I just knew his story would be a big deal seeing as he was Daeun’s favorite patient, I was just dreading it. Thinking back on it I think it only made sense that his character died. Not just because it helped move along the plot and further played into Daeun's plot line, but because it was important. I think it was important to show how not everyone wins the battle. Seo Hwan’s story was a story that I’ve heard/seen in so many South Korean dramas and true stories. I think the feeling this character felt is something a lot of people can relate to, and seeing his death might help someone out there like him. I really liked how they focused on how much his death affected others. It might help someone who’s considering the same path that he did to not make that choice because the people around them might be just as sad. I’m not that good with my words but I think overall this was an amazing show that dealt with some real world topics and can help a lot of people become more familiar with mental illness and those that suffer from it.

A beautiful cast with a beautiful relationship ❤️

Another great hit out of park. Just the right amout of everything. This was definitely a beautiful story of 2 college guys that dont know each other, but are looking for each other. Sang Woo is a junior and very smart, but not gullible and is part of a group project that everyone hoping he'll do it. Wrong* instead he calls them out and they get a F and some cant graduate college like Jae Young. Jae young goes on a man hunt to find Sang woo and in the intrum sang woo is looking for a game designer. Once they meet S. W. explains he hates liers and people are responsible for their own work. This causes J.Y. to annoy S.W. for a few days when he realizes that its not bothering him at all so now he wants to understand JW better and how his mind works. Then when a girl Ryu Ji Hye who likes S. W. comes into the picture he finds himself interrupting them on many occasions. The physical connection and personality makes them the perfect pair once they figure out how they each need and fit into each other lives. I enjoyed the other cast members as they also did a wonderful job. I enjoyed Song Ji Oh who played Choi Yu na and how she looked to be tuff, but was funny and playful a needed part (hope to see more of her acting) same with Hyeong Taek and his crazy hair.
The kiss seens between Sang woi and Jae Young were spot on that you could feel the attraction and emotions and it wasnt fake, it was hot ?. I like the personality that Sang woo gives off that everything has it place, but then he becomes the aggressive one in the relationship and surprises J. Y. facial expressions are just to cute. Just love it sorry it ended would love to see more if them.❤️?❤️??

This show is at the top of my favorite list

I have watched everything that writer LWJ and director SWH created and I have become a fan since the Reply series. I have trusted their work because everything they created so far were all masterpieces. And so, even before Hospital Playlist started airing, I knew it would be a great show--and I wasn't a bit disappointed.

I won't comment on the obvious, because the writing and directing was undoubtedly top quality. I would want to commend the ensemble cast who did excellent work in making the characters alive. They felt like real people and their friendship and human interaction were so life-like. Every scene touched me. Every micro expression tells a story. Every band practice inspired me. Every karaoke moment reminded me of my friends.

This is a story about friendship and the road to life. It tells me that at 40, I can still make life-changing decisions and it's still not too late to find love.

I have so much love for this show. So much respect to the production team who gave us a show worth watching.

The chemistry is off the charts!

Two main characters have such great chemistry. It's amazing. The story is simple. Nothing outlandish happens. It's very cute and heartwarming. It had that perfect amount of angst caused by pining and stubborness. The slow build up from enemies to lovers was soo worth it.
The actors did a great job. The main couple complimented each other so well on screen. I also really enjoyed all the side characters. Everyone was so perfect for their role.
I was thinking whether I wanted second season or not, cause on one hand I feel like this story deserves more, but on the other I don't know what the second season could be about without the creators coming up with some convoluted conflict (as it often is for second seasons). Right now it's perfect as it is.

Let me say this in the start " it's the best BL drama i watched" okay i don't watch much because it's always so cringey and the story unrealistic but this one is really well made from story to acting and visual. we all know how Kdrama level of Quality is way better that other asian shows and they prove that with this short but perfect drama.

in most BL drama they wrote the show as boy and girl and make one of them act girly -_- in this drama this didn't happen the boys have clear characters as boys and even the cute one "Han Tae Joo " we see him protecting Kang Gook in first scene and clearly pushing the relationship since the start, it was amazing point.

the story not that new (the bodyguard /friend to lover) but it was made so well with details of characters and how some react different to their own feeling. and the use of Sexual tension between them and the react of small touches in some places like ear and again use the same touch that cause discomfort to show jealous. the push and pull between them and how they know each other weak points well..

this drama being short is plus if you want to watch it in one shout it will be like move and if you watch it already it's easy to rewatch and enjoy it again and again.

acting was great the talk with eyes, the way they look at each other was believable. can't wait to watch more of those actors.

the ost was so good too.. Again kdrama please give us this kind of drama again.

The series itself has a fascinating and atypical plot that really keeps you watching. I enjoyed watching the female lead's character develop in the drama, while keeping her conscience clear. Chang An's character, on the other hand, didn't change much from the start to the end, and was rather underdeveloped in my opinion.

This series needs a second season, solely because the ending of this drama was extremely anticlimactic and failed to tie up all the loose ends. Many questions are left unanswered, and the fate of certain characters are uncertain.

The show reuses a certain ost a lot, but one of the side tracks is actually really good ("ONE") !

The storyline in this piece was the saddest up-and-down, back n forth romance I have ever seen. I felt I was going through my last marriage! j/k The actor and actress who played Wan Mei and Chang An did a great job in convincing its viewers of this back n forth relationship is why I gave a 10 rating on the cast. The Visual Effects were cool especially when they went into the cave. I wished the writers would've created an Agape type of Love between Wan Mei and Chang An. I will rewatch it again. Actor Qu Chu Xiao, maybe he will end up on my top 10 Favorite list. I hope to see this actor flourish! Thank you to the "Bloody Romance" team, for giving my respects.

So worth it!

Happiness is a banger from the very first episode, in fact the intro is so catchy that it reels you in and you’re hit with these character’s well written personalities. The relationship between the leads is chef’s kiss. With so little they give us a lot, definitely slow burn but without the angst. Each episode is so action packed and doesn’t feel like a filler, beauty of 12 episodes I guess! The side characters are super interesting and apartment people are so frustrating that you can’t stand them. They show us how some situations bring out the worst in people. Comeback dramas are so hyped that they can be a fail, but I’m so glad for PHS! Another thing I loved about the drama was how everything was well laid out from the beginning. Certain reveals in the very end shock you but you accept them because the tiny hints exist in the earlier episodes.

The drama can be a little triggering though, whole with the ongoing pandemic still in place. If you can get past that, it’s so worth a watch!

Masterpiece

I don't usually write reviews ....but this bl deserves it ... In my pov (*since i am reading the manhwa and watched the drama as well) this drama was so well made ...it deliverd everything and every emotion well enough ....even tho at a point i thought that the ending will feel rushed since the manhwa is not complete yet and they skipped many chapters from it but yet they showed us everything ?? its complicated .....

But i am happy since i can still read it coz the manhwa is still ongoing ....??

A Frustrating Experience

[Watched/Reviewed on Letterboxd 5/16/2021]

So far, outside of "Chungking Express", Wong Kar-wai's filmography has been fairly aggravating to watch. Clearly, the guy's modus operandi is the interior lives of unhappy people, but with the way people talked about his films, I was hoping for something with a little more substance than folks who clearly need to learn how to communicate with each other.

It's just been Tony Leung portraying sorry men in even sorrier relationships featuring actors I've only come to like (Leslie Cheung) and already love (Zhang Ziyi, Maggie Chung, Gong Li, and Faye Wong). It's a kind of director/actor dynamic that's proven to be less than stellar, and certainly not entertaining.

Of all his films, I was really expecting to like "In The Mood For Love", if only for my girl Maggie Cheung. The establishing period of the film is really good, I like the way the film sets the characters up as neighbors. It's kind've amusing that we're never allowed to see the faces of their beau's, only hear them speaking (clearly, someone watched "Charlie Brown").

But as the film goes on, it just feels aimless as it languishes in the growing loneliness of the characters. I struggled to remain awake just to see the two interact, but it got to a point that I didn't care anymore. I rolled over and went to sleep wishing they'd divorce their spouses so they can be "[Un]happy Together".

My first BL drama

This is my first BL drama & I love it.... <3. The chemistry between gong jun & Zhang Zhe Han is really spot on. Really like the interaction between Zhou Zi Shu (A Xu (AX)) & Wen Ke Xing (Lao wen (LW). I think this is the first time i wanna scream to my TV, "kiss kiss kiss..." in several scene. Haha. Because one thing for sure there will not gonna be kissing scene in this drama... :D

What i like about costume kung fu drama like this is we can see how hypocritical people really are. In the end yeah sometimes the 'good people' is worse than the 'bad people'.

This is also, for me, the first drama that have so many secret within until there are many video explained about it in YouTube, I especially really like the explanation by 'Ty the Canasian'. Many hidden secret....

Really like the story & development of all the character here. Like ChineseDramaFan wrote, AX, LW & Zhang Cheng Ling (CL) 'When they meet, they become a family, watching out for each other.' They all have their own problem , but together they became family.

Ok lets talk about our cast.
- AX from indifferent people, who already doesn't care about everything else just wait for died, to finding someone that he care about.
- LW from full of hatred to be able to let go his ambition a little bit.
- CL from the naïve boy to find role model & be able to learn how to follow his heart.
- Cao Wei Ning (WN), really like how WN still a naïve man that really can keep his promise to AX
- Gu Xiang (AX) AX from 'the ghost' that only know about killing can learn what is love & touch by WN determination.

This drama makes me to like Gong Jun even more. So far I already watch him play as arrogant man (unique lady), quiet guy ( unrequired love) & in here he as flamboyant & flirty man. Really looking forward what character can he play next...

Ok. Let's talk about that soundtrack. Love some of the song, but there is some song that have annoyed voice for me, I guess that sang by Gong Jun, not love the voice ^_^.

Overall: like everybody write here & like I already write above, this drama really have many hidden secret. Because we know china is very strict with this kind of drama (BL drama). But this drama really good at hiding it so it can pass censorship. But yeah this one good drama with every cast have perfect chemistry with each other.

a character depth focused and heartwarming drama!

i'll admit it. i mostly watched because of the cast! but i really wasn't disappointed!

i was never a fan of medical dramas, but this one turned me into one :) it had all a good drama needed: a great plot, touching characters, very interesting character development, adorable chemistry, and realistic scenes.

all the supporting characters had a lot of depth, their own struggles and stories, which i found very compelling!
and of course, the 2 main characters did a wonderful job, and you could feel their great chemistry :") their romantic scenes were particularly intense emotionally as we see them grow closer and closer, sometimes taking a step back or a step foward each other in a very realistic and sweet way.

the only drawback would be the villains, that don't add much to the story in my opinion, outside of annoying us haha!
overall this is a wonderful drama, especially if you're not that into medical dramas, i assure you you'll get into them afterwards!
